Ariel smiled a little and started to stretch her limbs to get them warmed up, followed by a few jumping jacks when she heard something. She stopped and coked her head a little. "Sorrento, did you hear that?"

Suddenly the grass nearby rustled a little, then a young infant came crawling out, quietly gurgling and cooing as if lost. Ariel gasped out. "A baby?" With eyes growing hazy, very slowly she knelt down to it. "What are you doing out here little one?" She cooed in a soft motherly tone. As if to respond, the baby cooed to her and crawled into her arms, laughing slightly as Ariel's arms wrapped around it.

A... child? and an infant at that. Sorrento's first instinct was to check on Faith and when he saw that her child was still in her arms, safe and unharmed, that's when Sorrento started to worry. He couldn't recall there being another heavily pregnant tribute so it couldn't be safe, could it. But when he glanced over to the child now in Ariel's arms, he couldn't help but feel a wave of protectiveness wash over him. He couldn't help but remember how much the sight reminded him of when their triplets were still newly born, that first itching of pride and protectiveness running through his veins.

Phenix walked for a dreadfully long time, clambering over rocks and up slopes, eventually finding himself at the top of the tallest mountain he could find. There seemed to be a sort of shrine there, tall rocks standing in a circle around some kind of inscription. Carefully, he stepped into the middle and bent low to read. Instead of some ancient language as he'd been expecting, he found what seemed to be a song. Or, a poem maybe.

"There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white,

Robins will wear their feathery fire
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree
If mankind perished utterly;

And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,
Would scarcely know that we were gone."


It was an eerie message, but somehow comforting. At the bottom, a final sentence could be seen: "What you seek is not impossible, so long as your will drives it." Phenix nodded to himself, looking up as he heard the wind rustle the grass.

T'val awoke with a grunt and a sigh, quietly murmuring, "Jamie?" before fully opening her eyes. With a quick chuckle, she sat up. "Not Jamie," he sighed, smiling at Narukami.

A twleve-year-old tribute was hefting her backpack over her shoulders as she walked along, trying to get a feel for the arena. She would stop on the occasion cocking her head this way and that as her ears picked up on the smaller details that other tributes might overlook, she finally settled down at a small stream and refilled her water bottle. She had been hiking all the previous day and most of last night after another tribute had cornered her. She was grateful that her power of music had gotten her out of that mess. As she waited for the water to purify she nibbled on some roots she had found on her travels.

Trotting down the hill carefully, Phenix stumbled clumsily into what seemed to be a camp. Smoldering logs sat in an area, clearly unsuccessfully lit the previous night. A Tribute gasped awake, darting from under a tree after looping their hand through a bag next to them. From the small glance he got of the Tribute, Phenix was suddenly sure he'd found Sedric Fornes. Sprinting after the man, Phenix started to cuss as branches whipped him and his target vanished.

Gasping for breath, Sedric glanced over his shoulder. A small stream bubbled out of a hole in the hillside next to him, drawing his attention. Frowning in dismay, she started to follow it. The worst thing that could happen now was a Gamemaker's trap. And he'd clearly won the people's favor, so traps were a small worry to him.

The tribute, Iro, had finished her roots and put the water bottle in her bag as she got ready to start moving again. Maybe she should find someplace to rest for the day? She was a little tired, though the extra sleep and calories from her Capital stay were working in her favor, for now at least. As Iro slung her backpack over her shoulder, she heard something, she didn't know what, but she still got ready to run or fight as her leg muscles tensed up.

Freezing, Sedric looked ahead. After a moment, he blinked his eyes, his ability sparking his vision into a separate plane. A heat signature stood in front of him, just behind a few bushes and trees. Smiling, he blinked again and drew a long knife, then squatted low to teh ground and started to advance in a sort of crawl.

"Sorry, not Jamie." Narukami chuckled, folding up the dirtied blanket she had used. She could empathize with T'val, sometimes she woke up with phantom warmth half convinced that she was still back in her shared home, breakfast being prepared and her arrival was what they were waiting on. Just thinking about them sent a wave of loneliness running through her but she resolutely pushed it away, leaving it for future her to deal with. "I was thinking of going hunting. We'll need some food for the coming days."

Admitedly, Iro was going to move on, but the SNAP made her turn to where Sedic was, she summoned a red and blue CD looking shield.

(Sonic Screen: Iro creates a blue and red shield in the form of a CD)

The baby in Ariel's arms laughed a bit more as Ariel started to soothe the infant, but the Sorrento saw something that made survival instincts kick in: its eyes were flashing slightly as if indicating a warning of sorts. . .

Like it was going to explode.

Zahara crosses her arms and pouts. "Who says I care about you? I simply don't want to lose my human shield" she lies. She quiets down after that rude comment to listen to the rest. "That's... Smart. I'm glad you found a way to cope with your emotions" she says sincerely, although her rage doesn't dwindle. "Be sure to tell me next time you decide to leave (so that I don't have to worry.)" She doesn't say the final part.

Sedric froze, seeing that his new target had done something. Carefully, he crept forwards, preparing to leap at this new threat. Blinking, he surveyed his surroundings, then confirmed that it was safe. His body extended like a cat's, sending him flying out of the bush as his knife struck the shield, creating sparks as it was deflected. Rolling to a stop behind Iro, he stood and whipped around, preparing to strike again.

"And you think I am?" Narukami chuckled, stretching out just to test if her wound still hurt. It stung slightly but it was manageable. "I suck at sneaking around so we'll be no good at hunting together." As if to demonstrate, she flexed her hands, the gauntlets she still wore snug around her hands. It was true that punching something in the face was probably not the way to go when hunting for food but she supposed she could call on some fog to give the pair an advantage.
So caught up in his own memories of parenthood, Sorrento almost missed the warnings until it was almost too late. "Ariel!" He screamed as soon as he gave into his intuition and finally noticed the slightly flashing eyes, lunging forward to pull his wife back. He almost made it, pulling her back enough that the child was yanked out of her grasp but he wasn't fast enough.

Iro spun on the ball of her feet to face this new threat, her body rigid. "Infinite Echo!" With her free hand, she shot a purple vortex beam of energy at him as a small distraction before running off. Unfortunately, a fair distance away she tripped over a rock and fell to the ground, her shield skidding out of her reach. To make things worse her ankle was swelling from a slight tweak due to the fall. Pulling herself up she hobbled towards her shield to at least defend herself.

(Infinite Echo: Iro shoots a vortex-like or crescent-shaped purple sonic beam of energy at the enemy)

Ariel was startled by Sorrento's shout of alarm, let alone him jerking her away, the infant fell from her grasp. Sorrento had just started pulling her away when the infant suddenly exploded, both of them were thrown by the explosion a short distance away as a pinkish ooze-like substance scattered around the area. Ariel screamed when a small portion of what now appeared to be acid, landed on her exposed arm. She was honestly too stunned to react much at first, from both the sudden wolf in sheep's clothing and the sudden burning of her skin. Ariel was finally able to come to enough sense to get most of the acid off, what little remained had been absorbed into her skin.

Ariel was shaking and crying, all she could think about was her unborn baby. Was she okay? What was this going to do to her?

T'val giggled a little, shaking her head. "I guess the best thing I can do is stay behind ang guard the camp. You'll at least be able to go about without having to worry about the images."

Sedric ducked quickly under the blast, watching at is burst against a tree and scorched the bark and wood. After a moment, he turned and flickered into his heat vision, quickly spotting Iro and sprinting towards her. Leaping again, he went to strike at the young Tribute, before being knocked aside by something that seemed to have burst from the woods beside him.

Phenix had scowered the area, trying to hunt down Sedric before the other Tribute got away. He'd been alerted to noise nearby, and had quickly moved to intercept where he thought the sound might go. Seeing Iro, he had made to move towards her, only to spot Sedric in the dark a few feet away. As Sedric leapt, he did too, striking the older male in the side and sending him sprawling, if at the momentary cost of his bearings.

Iro managed to pick up her shield and turned around to find that another tribute had swooped in and saved her, or at least that's what hopped had happened.

"I don't mind you coming along, it will be fun to learn together." She assured, though she did empty out the bag of cloth to take along with her. "But if that's what you feel like is better, I won't stop you."
Flinching from the explosion, Sorrento immediately drew Ariel close, frantically checking over her. "Are you okay?! Ariel please, I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong." He said desperately, trying to figure out why she was curled up and crying. It sort of frightened him, seeing his normally strong and capable wife so shaken up.

Ariel sputtered on her words as she tried to talk but finally showed him her arm, which was starting to heal up on its own from the acid burns. "That. . .thing exploded and got some acid on my arm. I-I got most of it off but the rest went into my skin. I don't want to lose her!"

Sorrento's head was spinning with how much was going through his brain but one specific word that Ariel said he latched onto. "Lose her? W-why would you lose her?" He sputtered, Ariel's own panic rubbing off on him. Gently holding the healing arm, Sorrento could only look on in bewilderment as he watched the wound heal up. He was so confused at this whole situation but he could at least recognize that this wasn't an ideal place to be caught unawares and hastily scanned the area around them, too fraught to use his echolocation, eyes straining as he hoped to catch sight of whoever had sent an exploding baby of all things at them

Phenix and Sedric stood at opposite ends of the clearing for a few moments, glaring, before Sedric suddenly brightened. "Osiris!" His smile was that of an old friend, his knife suddenly held as if it were a toy. "Not another move, Fornes," Phenix growled in response. That seemed to be a shocking thing to Sedric, though it also seemed that he expected it. "Oh, you know, hm?" He sighed. "Terry was fun to fight. She was good at dodging. But poison has no counter.." He smiled an oddly wicked grin, brandishing the knife at Phenix. Phenix growled like a beast in response, quickly managing to lock eyes with Sedric. Sedric's smile vanished. "Oh sh-" He fell to the ground suddenly, holding his head and screaming. Phenix's eyes were alight with the yellow crackle of his power, almost leaping from one eye to another as his rage started to boil over.

Once all the work was done, the day seemed to drag on. Maci no longer had anything to distract herself with. She found herself pacing anxiously around the cave. All she could think about was horrible things happening to Phenix.
Stop worrying Jaxon's voice appears in her head again. She winces, her heart wrenching in pain. Why did this keep happening? Jaxon couldn't do this, or could he? Was this just the Gamemakers messing with her? She sighs and sits down on the ground, deciding that she wants to spend this time meditating. Now was a better time than ever to get her powers back. Especially with most of the group injured. One ambush could be deadly.
She tries to relax, tries to put away her worries for Phenix. She tries to look inward. For a moment, she can almost feel her powers, but the feeling disappears quickly and is replaced by something new.
She could feel the powers around her. Since nobody close to her was currently using them, they were all dormant. The feeling felt so strange, yet so familiar.... She gasps in surprise and opens her eyes, which breaks the spell.
