Clarisse parried the thrust with her axe, getting stumped by Iola's
sudden movement. She knew she'd have to read his moves and strike
before he even finished his attack, if she wanted to win before
getting exhausted.
Her body moved almost on its own, delivering an overhead slash
towards the young heir of Fraldarius.
Backflipping out of the way, Iola used his momentum to help knock
the axe further away with his feet than the follow through swing
probably would, throwing Clarisse off balance. "Wait, are we only
supposed to use our weapons?" Iola panicked, suddenly worried that
he had broken some kind of rule. His arm was tingling just from
Clarisse parrying his earlier attack and he was sure that actually
getting hit by that axe would definitely mean a win for her
"Not at all. Weapons..." Clarisse swung her axe again
"...brawling..." she used the axe's momentum to follow up into a
spin-kick "...dirty tactics, whatever." She then grabbed a handful
of sand, and threw it towards Iola's face.
She finally close the distance, grabbing him by the throat. "Even
grappling, if you want..."
Chuckling, Clarisse released Iola, taking a defensive stance once
again.
Lying on the ground blinking the sand out of his eyes, Iola pushed
himself up and shook the rest out. Coughing, he grinned and nodded.
"Noted." He grinned holding his sword parallel to the ground.
Thrusting the weapon towards Clarisse, he switched his body mid
attack to spin around and slash at her
Instintively, Clarisse went for another parry, and was again
stumped as the attack lightly slashed her side. Insantly, she
skipped back; she then grabbed a shield, making her weapon lighter
so that she could move as freely wielfding it with just one
hand.
Again, she charged, slamming her shield into Iola, before going for
another overhead slash.
Jumping backwards, Iola was unlucky enough that the shield still
knocked his backwards and sent him tumbling with bruising ribs. Now
that Clarisse had a shield, that would definitely complicate things
but it wouldn't be un-winable. As his little tumble had allowed him
to escape Clarisse's follow up attack, Iola had a bit of time to
think, which he used to pull his hair up in a tight bun. Having
free flowing hair was annoying during these times. Running forward,
Iola stayed low to avoid any overhead attacks before grabbing
Clarisse's shield and hauled himself up on it to balance
dangerously on it. He was hoping for Clarisse to either drop the
shield or for him to get a close hit in first.
*After reading all the available classes he been reading in the
library, he decided he would go for the sword master class after
seeing that one of combat arts is astra a familiar move to him*
Good I need to aim for this if I want to keep with these guy's.
*Marcus put everything back in place and went outside were everyone
was practicing*
Clarisse didn't really register waht had just happened. She only
felt her left hand drop the axe and yank Iola down by his leg. She
grabbed tightly the leg, confident je'd be trapped: "So, what now?"
Blinking as he was suddenly in the ground, Iola took a moment to
realize that Clarisse had pinned him down. "Oh." He said dumbly,
realizing that he had been beaten.
Clarisse released Iola, helping him to his feet. "Two for two, I'm
on a roll!" She announced, grinning. "Great match! You did
awesome!" She then exclaimed, smiling at her opponent.
When she noticed Leaf was missing, Clarisse was alarmed, even
though she kept telling herself it was nothing, he could go
wherever he wanted, after all.
Realizing that Leaf indeed was gone, Iola panicked slightly. "d-do
you think something happened to him?" He immediately jumped to the
worst case scenario, dropping his rapier.
Leaf was working harder then ever. He was in the library,
practically pushing himself to the limit. Working on his faith
magic proficiency while working on reason magic on the side. After
seeing what Iola and Clarisse can do, he couldn't help but feel as
if he was already being left in the dust.
"you might be right..." Iola trailed off, wringing his hands.
"Well... Let's go look for him! He should be close... Right?" He
gulped at the thought of searching the whole monastery, but he did
want to make sure that Leaf was okay
"Let's see... library, professor's office, dorm room, greenhouse...
where could he be? What do you think?" Clarisse was phasing out
everything that didn't directly involve finding Leaf, and possibly
cheering him up.
"...Thank you, Professor Lysithea!" He bowed after Lysithea had
explained a magical formula to him, as he continued to work hard.
His attitude was somewhat similar to her in her younger years
Mulling over his choices, Iola made a brave face. "Let's split up."
He suggested, the brave face instantly crumbling. "I'll... Check
the dorm room and... Um... The professor's office." He tried,
smiling shakily.
Leaf stumbled out of the library. He felt exceedingly tired, he
slowly headed to his dorm room, but his efforts bore a little bit
of fruit. He felt he could understand a little more on reason magic
