Unsure of what to say, Lucia fell silent and followed him.
Survivors guilt was harsh. She'd never really been close to any
humans, so she wasn't too sure how Kat felt, but they must have
been nice if Kat liked them.
Kat went into the cave, and growled as the stench of rotting food,
and destroyed items were bothering his sense of smell. He turned
into a human, and walked around cautiously looking around. "This
place was where I grew up...the humans who took care of me were
kind, but..." He trailed off and shook his head. "It's the reason I
never really made friends with others. I don't want the same thing
happening to them" he admitted darkly, and stopped at a picture
where a young boy, and a tiger cub were smiling while they sat by a
river.
Andromeda smirked, " Feel free to rest, I will watch for the
others. I haven't slept through the night in ages. " she said.
"It is a nice night, though..."
Lucia narrowed her eyes slightly, the smells mingling and annoying
her nose. She morphed back into a human as well, still sitting on
the ground. She crossed her legs and looked up at Kat. "What were
they like? You said they were kind, but what else were they like?"
She asked curiously. "Just tell me to shut up if I'm prying too
much." She added swiftly.
Kat glanced over and smiled slightly. "Well they took care of
me....the mother; her name was Rachel; she found me in the forest
one day. My mother had died trying to protect me from a small group
of humans, and my father...well he decided to never use his animal
form again. Anyway Rachel was a single mom. Her husband died to a
small group of deer years before when he was hunting...the deer got
spooked, and attacked. She was willing to protect her son with
everything she had, and her son..." He began lowly, and trailed
off. He then decided to begin again. "Rachel took me in when I was
just a cub, her son was about my age, and he was always willing to
play. Rich-the name of the boy- and I would always go to the river,
and fish. One day while fishing, Rich fell into the river, and I
went to save him; since he couldn't swim" he sighed, and looked
back at the picture. It was taken shortly before the boy fell into
the river. "They died keeping me safe...I wish I could have done
more to save them" he muttered quietly.
Lucia smiled faintly. "They seem nice." She murmured. "It's not
your fault they.. They died, you know. Don't blame yourself for
what happened. I'm no good with this kinda stuff, but it wasn't
your fault, from what I'm getting." She shook her head shortly.
Kat nodded, and looked around. He then froze as he knocked
something over, and it created a loud shattering sound. "Looks like
I broke something..." He mumbled lowly, and sighed in
embarrassment.
Kat looked down, and narrowed his eyes against the darkness. His
human form didn't have the added benefit of being able to see in
the dark. He then recognized a broken bottle. "It was just a
bottle..." He said softly, and sighed. "Let's get out of here..."
"I thought we could head over to that river from that
picture...after all I could do with a drink" Kat said kindly, and
scratched the back of his neck.
Lucia followed, messing with her sweatshirt a bit. It had been a
while since she was able to truly relax in her human form, as most
of her time used to be running from place to place. She was
surprised the bow in her hair hadn't fallen out yet.
