It would be great if there was a limit on how long an offer can sit in the gem exchange before it's automatically removed and the person has to set it up again.

Currently the gem exchange is a flood of troll/unfair offers that no one would ever take unless they were very new or had no idea what they were doing. It would be much easier to find offers you're looking for if there weren't the troll offers there to sift through.

Putting an expiry on offers will make it more annoying/difficult for users to keep up with troll offers if they have to keep remaking them and will keep the gem exchange fresh and new by removing the offers no one is ever going to take and prevent the risk of unknowing users being scammed.

My suggestion for the limit would be 10-14 days.

I think this is a great idea! Especially so newer users don't get trolled. It would also just make it more organized for everyone and eliminate old offers set up by users who are't even active anymore.

in addition--if you got a notification of some sort after your offer expired, saying something like "hey, your gem offer has expired, [set up a new one!]" that could also help someone consider if their trades are fair? Like if they don't get any bites and they wanna set it up again. Being reminded that the offer expired because no one took it would make me think "oh heck maybe I should lower the price/sweeten the deal"-- at least that is how I'd think as a player.
