Ariel hadn't flinched when her blood had been drawn, but seemed rather calm and collected as the peacekeeper waved her on. Ariel was standing next to Tempest just out of dumb luck, Ariel threw back some of her hair from her shoulder and waited for the reaping to start.

Tempest glances sideways at the girl, trying to measure her up. It was obvious that this girl was much stronger and much more confident than her. 'Everyone has a breaking point' she reasons. She wonders what Ariel's is. She quickly glances away, having realized that she stared at her for much too long now.

The Reaping started and a capital repersentative for each district came and spoke about how an honor it was then a video played about the Dark Days and the wars that followed. Then the part that had everyone dreading their name to be pulled. . .

District 1

Several people took a breath as the the lady plunged her hand in and pulled out three slips of folded paper with names on it. She opened the first and read it with no hesitation. "Gem *Random last name here.*" A girl about 15 with short brown hair hobbled towards the temporal stage on crutches. Just a glance could tell regaruless of how resourcefull this girl was, she wouln't survive the blood bath.

District 2

"Katie Bell." A girl with long braids started walking to the stage, fists clenched in fear at her sides.

District 3

"Melody Rose." Melody walked up to the stage and didn't say anything. When the man asked for volunteers there was slicene. Two more names were pulled and read. Both girls mounted the stage, and again volunteers were asked.

District 4

A random girl with blonde hair had been pulled first, then they called Ariel and she walked up with the confidence and grace as anyone who had prepared years for this only could. Then Tempest's name was called out.

District 7

"Harlow." The man read off and there was a stiffening slicene.

District 10

"Maddy Wolf." The woman called out against the early afternoon's heated air.

District 12

"Blaze Collins." Blaze felt her blood turn to ice as her name rang out against the crowd.

*Talla saw the girl hobble up to the stand.* Oh hell no, Wait! *Talla walked into a pathway* I volunteer in her place. I am not gonna let someone in her condition risk her life.


*Maddy saw Talla volunteer. She was slightly relieved that her sister would be joining her. But she was still nervous*

Miko looked at everyone who’s names were called. They even included people with conditions as bad as that? Do they want death? She clenched her fists and looked at the lady. She didn’t know if she would volunteer once they called someone from district 13, or if she should just say she would volunteer right now. She sighed, continuing to wait.

The girl shot Talla a greatful glance before a pair of Peacekeepers ushered Talla to the stands. A few comments were made then she opened the second and a random girl headed up on stage. The next name made Talla's heart stop. "Alice Bone." From her spot, Talla could see Alice standing there in shock and horror, or that of someone who had just been given a death sentance. Yet the small girl willed herslef to mount the stage and stood between Talla and the other girl. Then the capital woman started on the boys. Two random names that Ryder wasn't firmilar with, then his own got called.

Mika's name was suddenly called out.

She gulped and walked up, looking at the others who were called. She was somehow excited, and also determined to beat all of them.

Scowling at the girl called out for her district, Kardia ground her teeth. She knew Katie Bell, the young girl wasnt a career and she had often sat in the forge crying over her plight of being in the running for the games. Raising a hand, she looked the woman calling out the death sentences in the eye. "I volunteer as tribute." She proclaimed, heart pounding in her ears

She looked at Kardia, unfazed by the sudden volunteer. She was more focused on being confident and determined.

Katie looked at Kardia with what could've been interpited as shock mixed with relief. A pair of Peacekeepers went to Kardia's side and swapped her with Katie.

Kardia didn't say anything, just passing Katie with a smile. She liked the girl a lot and she had a better life ahead of her. Kardia was just a street urchin who just happened to land an apprenticeship. Kardia didn't have anyone waiting for her back at District 2, but she knew Katie had a family waiting for her. No one would cry when Kardia inevitably died.

The remainder of District 2's tributes were then called and mounted the stage. The final words were said then teh tributes were shuffled into the justice building behind them and into a seperate room where they'd wait for thier loved ones to say a final goodbye.

Miko dreaded this. She knew no one would come, and she almost hoped no one did. The men back at “home” would scold her and make her feel worse about the situation. She knew one of them would make fun of her for not having “any real family” to say goodbye to. She sighed and just stood there, watching everyone say goodbye.

Kardia lounged in her designated room, playing with her white heather earring. She didn't have a family anymore, her master being the only person who could qualify. But her master was getting old and his ailing limbs wouldn't support the walk up opulent stairs that she had to climb. Lost in thought, Kardia almost missed it when the doors to her room slammed open and her master flew in like a tornado, graying hair wild and untamed as her hands were grabbed.
"Oh Kardia, you foolish foolish girl." Her master sobbed, wrapping her up in strong spindly arms. "You did the right thing but my soul weeps for you. Your heart won't make it."
Freezing slightly, the fiery redhead relaxed and patter her Master's back. "Zaphiri," she coaxed closing her eyes. "it's okay. My heart burns my life short, and if I am to die young, then I'll die protecting someone from a fate they do not deserve." They stayed there, simply embracing each other before the time was up and her master was helped out of the room.

Maddy looked at Talla as they reached a point where they needed to separate.* Keep yourself safe out there Talla. *Talla gave her sister a hug.* You too Maddy. *They let go of eachother and went their separate ways. Maddy looked back at Talla.* Dont do anything stupid, Talla! *Talla turned around* How can I? I'm leaving it all with you. *Maddy flipped her off and turned back around*

She sighed, just waiting for this to end. She felt so alone, knowing that there was a big chance that she would die alone too. She hated being alone. She had learned her fear the hard way. She closed her eyes as she waiting, thinking that it could somehow speed up time. Of course, that was silly.

Ryder walks up on stage with a goofy smile. "I volunteer to take- well- literally anyone's place!" He manages to speak without slurring too many words. "I'm no saint, I'm not doing this because I'm an angel, do not think that! I'm a selfish brat that just wants to fight!" He shouts

Harlow's eyes widen. She haven't expected this. What were the chances!? An amused smile crosses across her face. She wipes it clear from her face. By the time she walks up on stage her expression is blank. She crosses her arms behind her back and stares out into the crowd, showing no emotion.

Tempest didn't believe it at first. There had to be a mistake! Maybe that was another Tempest! Maybe-... But it wasn't, that was her full name that was called. Tears build up in her eyes as she walks on stage and stands next to Ariel. She clenches her fists so hard she feels her nails dig into her palms. She'll have to be strong now, or she'll most certainly die.

She glared at Ryder, immediately hating him. She wasn’t going to let him take her place. She looked around and noticed that some people called up were shocked, scared, emotionless, or just confident. She understood why people hated the Reaping, but she didn’t mind it at all.

Shion gnawed his lip as the girls in his district was slowly being called up one by one. He wasn't close with any of the names called so far and sighed as none of his friends or acquaintances got called. He knew that the worst was yet to come, when the boys would be called. He would immediately volunteer if his brother was the one chosen, but he severely doubted that it would ever happen. After all, he only had one slip of paper buried within the storm of white. He was more scared for himself.
