Scriptus read the letter, which was from Lena, Siegfried's mother:

"Dear Scriptus,

I am pained to announce you that your cousin, my husband Sir Sigmund of the North, has died of a disease that has been plaguing him since his youth. I also have good news for you, though. My son Siegfried has been chosen to join the Round Table. He should be in town around the time you read this letter. I beg of you, please help him become as great a knight as his father- you know Siegfried since he was 3 years old, you know that he's always dreamed of being a great knight. I beg you to consider helping him.

Scriptus said:

"Well what do you know! The rumors about Siegfried were true- he'll be joining us! He should be in town about now!"

Temporus suddenly broke free and prepared to attack Vestige:

"NO WITNESSES!"

Suddenly, a pink and white blur slammed into Temporus. Exalon, the Palkia, stood tall over the fallen Temporus:

"Brother! Stop this madness!"

Temporus said weakly:

"Ex... Exalon?!"

Exalon said:

"It is me indeed, Temporus! What do you think you're doing?!"

Owin jumped. He was very startled. "Leave Vestige alone!" he snapped. He pulled out his Sword and Shield and stood between Vestige and Temporus.

Just as Exalon got ready for a fight, Temporus started having a seizure. Exalon noticed a black inky wound on Temporus's neck:

"Only one kind of creature can cause those wounds- a Chieftain Shade! This explains his behavior- it slowly drives you mad, then kills you!"

Temporus collapsed unconscious. Scriptus said:

"We have to rid him of this Shade plague! Exalon, is Siegfried here too?"

Exalon nodded:

"I'm going now to bring him here!"

Vestige woke from another nightmare and saw the end of the encounter. It muttered "Thanks for helping my anxiety" It then tried to fall back asleep. *No matter where I go there will be a threat of death from him...* Vestige thought.

Exalon returned with a young knight. The knight said:

"Uncle Scriptus? What the heck is going on here?!"

Scriptus said:

"No time, Siegfried! Temporus has been affected by the chieftain Shade's plague!"

Siegfried nodded, then got to helping Temporus. About a hour later, Temporus was fully free of the Shade's plague. He woke up, then asked:

"Scriptus? How did we get back here? And what are Exalon and Siegfried doing here?"

He got up and looked at Vestige:

"Why is it terrified of me?"
That's why I said 'Hey, man, nice shot!'

"You tried to kill me twice! Don't tell me you don't remember!" Vestige snarled. "Twice? I saw it happen once..." Owin said his voice fading.

Vestige glared at Temporus. "You might not remember but I do. Don't expect me to trust him anytime soon." Vestige laid back down and tried to go to sleep.

Vestige closed its eyes. It felt more comfortable now that Nell was between itself and Temporus. Relic and Isake had woken up as well and went over and sat with Owin and Vestige.
