Still a little bit unsure, Iola simply nodded, bowing internally
that he'd find some way to repay his friend. Careful not to drop
the sword, Iola gently hugged Leaf. "Thank you so much."
"No worries. Isn't that what friends are for? I've got your back."
Leaf smiled as he held Iola. Leaf put his insecurities aside as he
swore to protect his friend, even at the cost of his life
Nodding a bit teary eyed Iola stepped back to smile brightly.
"Yeah. And I've got yours." He promised, eyes sparkling with
newfound resolve to protect Leaf as his family had protected their
kingdoms ruler.
Iola squeaked as he was lifted up and spun. Considering his small
stature and lithe body, it didn't take much to actually lift him up
but the action still startled him. Laughing lightly, Iola blushed
lightly as he hugged back.
"I think we'd better go find Clarisse or something. Or do you want
to go to tge greenhouse? I planted some fruit seeds and maybe we
can check on them!" Leaf said as he grinned at Iola. He had put
Iola so that he was sitting on his shoulders
"Ah, it's no biggie, it's nothing too special..." Leaf blushed as
he carried Iola out. He walked around with him towards the
greenhouse. "It's simple once you get the idea!"
Chuckling, Iola shook his head before realizing that Leaf wouldn't
see. "I don't think so. Doesn't require patience to do gardening?
You must also have a good eye for detail to be able to care for
plants."
"I suppose." Leaf thought for a moment. "Truthfully, I do get some
help from the expert gardeners in there from time to time. But it's
well worth it when I can get the harvest and make food for the
three of us." He sung out happily.
"Hehe, I look forward to that." He giggled, humming happily. While
he never found it interesting to garden and tend to plants, he knew
that it could be a time consuming process. Respect for his friend
grew as they ventured towards the greenhouse
"Erm...apparently that was last month's batch. They said I could
take a few, if I help with the cooking." Leaf looked down,
embarrassed. He felt as if he was letting his friend down a little
Blinking, Iola simply giggled. "Really? Then you have to be
learning with really good gardens." He amended. He didn't feel that
disappointed as he believed that Leaf was amazing. But they were
still students in the end so they all had room to grow.
Leaf blushed even more as he put the fruit down and he buried his
face onto Iola's shoulder. "You're really laying on the
compliments, any more and I feel like I'm going to explode from
embarrassment!" He squealed
Stifling his laughter, Iola simply pet Leaf's head comfortingly.
"There there." He chuckled. "Now you know how you make me feel
whenever you complement me."
"But still...you really laid it on..." Leaf mumbled as he slowly
sunk down onto his knees. His face was now pressed against Iola's
stomach. This wasn't usually like him of course, as he was usually
extremely composed. Leaf couldn't fathom how easily Iola had broken
his composure just now.
"That's because you really are amazing." He countered, uselessly
trying to tug Leaf back on his feet. When he couldn't, Iola instead
dropped to his knees to pour at his friend
Leaf mumbled some more as he stood up. He also helped Iola up. He
swept Iola off his feet while carrying the fruit in his bag and
made his way back to the dorms. "We may as well go back now, good
thing there isn't much people around this early morning..."
