The ice certainly made Mel feel more comfortable. It wasn't just
like rollerblading, which she was good at. She slid forward,
pausing near the front of the group. "What was that?" She asked
quietly, as Riu rushed to her side.
Mira inched forward slightly, trying to listen. She was cautious,
especially seeing as it was dark and nearly impossible to hear
footprints. Just as the conversation grew louder, something crashed
into her, sending them both crashing down. "OW!" She yelped,
sitting up.
"Sorry, sorry!" The newcomer squeaked from his spot on the ground.
"Didn't see you! I just followed your pokemon's light!"
Mel burst into laughter. "We've been in here less than five minutes
and Mira's already fallen." She snickered, glancing at the
newcomer. "What are you doing in here anyway? Don't you have a
flashlight or something?" She asked, slightly concerned.
"I'm Mel, this is Riu--" She gestured to the Lucario. "-and I don't
remember why we're here." She said, reaching into her backpack.
"Here," She added, tossing Liam a flashlight. "I have two."
Liam just barely caught it, and fumbled for a moment. Mira got up
and extended a hand to help him up. He took it gratefully and stood
shakily. "Thanks."
"We're here mostly to explore," Mira told him. "Who were you
talking to?"
"...I wasn't talking to anyone. My pokemon aren't even with me
right now," Liam blinked. Mira went silent.
"Well, repels work fairly well. Besides, I never fight them. Only
tame them," Liam explained. "I can't tell you the last time I've
ever fought a wild pokemon."
"What'd you do, bypass the code on the pc?" Mel asked curiously.
"Last time I tried to clear my party, the pc yelled at me." She
snorted and looked at Mira. "Do you hear anything?" She checked
nervously.
"I'll go on ahead!" Mel shouted, sliding further into the cave,
completely forgetting about the other flashlight in her backpack.
Riu shrieked quietly and chased after her.
Mel turned quickly, grabbing onto the wall to keep herself from
sliding further away. "Who the heck is that." She hissed, hair
almost poofing out like an angry cat.
