Kat crouched down, and glared at the deer. It was grazing in an
open field, the deer swiveled its ears behind it as Kat took a step
forward. Kat froze and waited for a moment as it went back to
eating, the deer's motions were slow, and distracted. Kat then
jumped and went in for a kill; as he did the deer kicked him again,
but only grazed his ear. Kat shook his head, and pounced onto the
deer.
Kat managed to take the deer down. He dragged it back to the cave,
and placed it at the entrance. "A few hours travel...almost a day.
If we leave early in the morning we'd be there by nightfall." He
said kindly.
Lucia looked up when Kat returned. "Is that the same deer that's
been torturing you since we got here?" Her eyes gleamed
playfully. "Then I guess we'll get up early." She decided
brightly.
Lucia scuffed her paws nervously. "Uh.. I'm, uh, sorry about
what I said earlier." She mumbled awkwardly. "Just in case
you were, like, upset or something. I'm sorry."
Andromeda got up and padded over to the fresh kill. She sniffed the
deer, her mouth already watering, "This will be miles better
than the carrion I've been eating.." She stopped herself from
grabbing a piece, and moved her gaze to Kat. "You should have
the first pickings, right?" Andromeda asked, hesitantly.
Andromeda nodded and looked back to the deer, looking it over.
Finally, she choose a leg, tearing it off, and carrying it further
into the back of the cave to eat.
Andromeda lost herself to her meal, chewing on the bone with
content. She sat far from the others, watching her new companions
settle in for the night. They are a nice and honest lot...I hope
they find what they are looking for. she thought to herself.
Kat had finished eating part of the deer. He was now curled up in
his nest. A tattered blanket was at his head, and he had his eyes
closed as if he were asleep.
Kat pricked his ears as he listened to the sounds of the forest. He
was trying to sleep, but couldn't the thoughts of his friends being
hurt, or killed by humans concerned him. He bit back a sigh as the
memories of his cub hood was replaying in his mind. Run
Katsumi! the little boy's-whom he concidered his brother-scream
replayed in his mind causing him to pin his ears back.
