Hello! I was thinking about this for a couple hours, and i'm ready to make it a suggestion now

I think that there should be a 12.6% chance of a pokemon hatching linked to the profile of the user who likes said pokemon. If there are more then one user(s) who like said pokemon, it would pick a random user, and link to their profile. Upon hatching, it would ask if you would like to add the linked user to your friendslist or not. This would mostly be for fun, since most of you like to click, and hatch eggs

Any support, or ideas on this?

I'm suggesting exactly what i said in the first post. You have a 12.6% chance of hatching a pokemon that somebody likes, and it could link to a users profile if they like it. You can choose which pokemon you like in the settings, if this is implemented

But if you are hunting and a different pokemon hatches, the chain will break so no support.

No. The linked pokemon wouldn't break the chain, since it would still be the same, but would just link to the users profile

Let's say that one user was chaining Combee, or just hatching a bunch of them, and he/she hatched one that he/she found linked to your profile. Upon clicking it to view its summary, he/she would be asked if they would like to be friends with you, Toothless. ^^

No support. That's a fairly high chance to get a link to your profile page, and it gets complicated.

Currently there are 13,813 registered users. If all 100% of them are active and all of them went in rotation for the pokedex entries: (First user liking Bulbasaur, second user liking Ivysaur, etc)

So that's 721 Pokémon to account for, including all of the ones that can't be obtained currently.

So right this very instant there are over 19 users per individual Pokémon. Take into account that you can't hatch all of them because they are evolutions and that number goes up. If it's restricted to just those on the site, that number goes up even more. (Also new users are joining all the time, which will only drive that number up)

And what about the users who like legendaries? They would have a much lower chance of getting a link to their page than the users who like Magikarp.

All in all, it's not a very even distribution, there's a lot of room for errors (on the user end), it might be able to be abused (if you can pick more than one, you could pick all the most common Pokémon to get more of a chance to get linked to your profile, for example)

And in all honesty, I don't want a Pokémon I hatched to relate to someone else without a very good reason. The valenfloon was cute and related to a friend of mine. That was fine. If it were named after a complete stranger, though, I wouldn't have been amused by that.
The same thing applies here. I prefer to stick to my little group of friends for my Pokémon, even though I talk on the forums a fair amount.

12.6% is a low chance. Besides, you don't have to hatch if you don't want to.

Maybe they can only choose one every 5 months, to avoid abuse?

12.6% chance in someone with a high shiny chain (say 200) is saying that about 25 of those pokémon would be linked to other users.

Randomly hatching Pokémon to complete the dex, after a couple hundred, a large number of those should, statistically, link to another user.

And it still isn't very fair. I like Rayquaza. I like Raylong. I like Latios. And I like Natu.
Out of those, only Natu would have a snowball's chance in... well, you get the saying. Where as Magikarp is the number 1 most common Pokémon on the site with 3,286 currently obtained.

That's around 414 links to user profiles alone. So, with this statistic, unless 414 different users like Magikarp (Where as my example earlier would only be around 20 if it were even) there's plenty of links to user profiles right there.

Ho-Oh, on the other hand, has 6 on the site and will get more daily. Which means every 13 days or so, there might be one linked to a user who likes Ho-Oh.

Do you now see why I say it's not really a fair thing to do? And this is why I say that's a pretty high number for this suggestion. I'd HATE to have a large number of my Pokémon linking to another user in any way, unless I choose to name them after the other user.

Also, would shinies count towards this? How about powered Pokémon? It'd suck to get a Mega Pokemon that links to someone else, since that'd push me to have to try and hunt for another one because of a dislike of others being tied to something that I actually worked for. Plus, it wouldn't fit for my characters to link to someone else. (And I collect my characters on here)
