After an influx of pokemon trainers attacking and catching the wild pokemon of Ula'Ula island, villages begin to stop welcoming travellers, turning the place into a more peaceful environment where pokemon can run free and safely. After the Kahuna, Nanu, leaves the island for reasons currently unknown, a new generation of villagers take care of the island in his place. It has only recently been reopened to the public for pokemon trainers to train there. The wild pokemon are stronger and villagers are uneasy with the new trainers and therefore many still do not venture to the island. The Routes are closed off and many villagers fear going outside.
Still, many new pokemon had taken refuge there after it closed, so lots of exotic and rare pokemon are living in the caves and towns.
{For Trainers}
After travelling through lots of new places, you've decided to come to the recently reopened Ula'Ula island. The people so far have been wary of you, and keep staring at you and blocking you from entering the Routes. Except...whenever you ask why, they turn away or point you in the direction of a tavern. "The Blooming Hibiscus." You stand in front of the building. Do you enter?
{For Pokemon}
After going to Ula'Ula to train yourself up when it closed a few years ago, you've been enjoying your peace here. Although recently you've seen more people venturing towards your habitat. You've gone to the village to see why.

The Absol saw a few people waiting outside what appeared to be a tavern, something that instantly sparked the fire within him. For a brief moment, he turned once again into his old, curious self, approaching the building and entering the tavern soon after.

He seemed slightly exhausted, what with walking for a few hours around the island, attempting to find a way behind the barriers. He had also heard of a resort in a faraway realm, but chose not to go there mainly because their friend reported some issues with gauntlets.

She put down the glasses.

My mothers had always spoken so highly of Ula'Ula island, Aegir thought to himself, hauling him and his large backpack up the arching pathway, framed by the beautiful trees dotted along the sides. His Jolteon, Sparky, followed closely behind him, a pensive expression on his face as they trekked through the forest. I hear that there's a nice tavern right around the bend I can drink at... plus, the strange townspeople refuse to point me anywhere else but there.
He paused. He completely forgot in what direction he was going. Sparky nuzzled against his hand, leading him north. He nods, and after a short walk, finds himself in front of The Blooming Hibiscus. He entered, the tavern revealing itself to have a quaint and cozy atmosphere and... he spotted... a peculiarly colored Absol wandering through the tavern, as well as a bubbly person right behind the counter. He waved, approaching her.
"Excuse me? All the locals, uh," he paused, trying to recall what the locals had told him (much to his dismay, he could barely remember, until Sparky had reminded him with an exaggerated paw gesture), "they all told me to go here."

“Hah. Gauntlets. Sounds ridiculous if you ask me, right Star?”
A Lopunny emerged from the Pokéball and glanced at Glitch, giving him a slight nod of their head. He faintly smiled and sighed, leaning on his chair a little.
“They must be exhausted, and yet, they’re supposed to be on holiday there. Ahhaha.”

He jolted, eyes blown wide, suddenly stuttering frantically.
"Oh, what, no! No, no, not at all!" Assuming he was delirious, he pinched himself to check if he was dreaming. The pain reminded him that no, he was not dreaming, and yes, the Absol before him was speaking. This is normal, and this is fine, he reassured himself, trying not to be offensive at all to the speaking Absol.
"Um, it's shocking that you can speak!" Internally, he facepalmed himself. How did he make his reaction more offensive than it was before? "I mean, um, impressive!" Did that make it any better? Probably not. "I wasn't, uh, staring at your fur, no, I was just admiring the, uh... coloration. Yes, yes, the coloration."

She stopped her sentence and cleared her throat. She smiled again.
"Nevermind. Can I get you guys drinks? Travellers get the first drink free! to make up for the locals being a bit icy.."
She grabbed glasses out for all of them before even letting them speak.
"Oh, Hi little guy! I've got some treats in the back if you want some?"
She said to araysh.

“I… guess I could get a drink. It’s been at least 6 hours, hasn’t it? What do you and the others want…?”
The Lopunny made a chorus of chirps and trills in response. Glitch, not understanding a word, could only presume they had asked for a glass of water.

Aegir smiles and nods at the lady. Sparky, too, seems to be parched, so he took a seat on a bar stool, admiring the environment. Not extravagant, for sure, but pretty in a way that feels like home. Or whatever the romanticization of home is - his mothers' home looked more like a laboratory than this.
"Yes, I'll- uh, have a drink, yes. Can my partner have one, too? He seems thirsty* after all that travelling. Whatever drink you recommend."
He smiles at his Jolteon, who's clearly upset Aegir made him travel so much.
"He's used to being in a pokeball, so he's a bit irritated right now." He added, followed by an awkward laugh.

Seeing another person by the counter, it seemed like he'd have to interact more with this Absol. "Oh, yes, all the time you've spent learning our language, yes, I'm so sorry to assume, my bad."
Gosh. Is this a godlike being for real?
He tried to shift his attention to Sparky, who was clearly disappointed with him for making such a bad first impression. If the dictionary definition of disappointment had to be an image, it'd probably be Sparky's face right now.

Star put their hand over their mouth and giggled, recieving an embarrassed glare from Glitch.
“Hey, it’s not my fault. Now, did you wish to come or not?”

What an odd bunch he was with. One had snapped his fingers and reacted in confusion (he didn't hear exactly what the person said) and another was a talking absol. And he knew he could hear other people outside making their way into the tavern. His mothers never told him he'd encounter such oddities.
Aegir forgot exactly why he was sitting there, as if he was waiting for something, and so he turned to Sparky for assistance. Sparky, like a service pokemon, gestured to Leilani and did a gesture with her paws that could be understood as "drink".
Aegir nodded, making an appreciative "ahh" sound once he realized what Sparky meant, nodding slowly. "Oh, of course, got it. Our drinks."

Just about the entire bar raised their hands.
