Kitty flinched softly at the hand as if expecting an impact, then flushed with embarrassment. "I um... Yeah, I'm okay." She took his hand and stood up, brushing herself off and trying to conservatively fix her outfit so she didn't look like a hooker. "I could ask you the same thing."

Kendo pulled out another cigarette, stuck it in his mouth and lit it. He inhaled deeply, exhaling a puff of smoke.

Kitty knew that closed off response, maybe a little too well. "Do- Do you wanna talk about it? Cats are great listeners, you know." Damn her, why did she have to say that? Hadn't she made a fool of herself enough already?

Athena walked in, right on time. Not one second early, not one second late. All her books and binders tucked neatly under her right arm. Head down, heading towards her usual table by instinct. Everyday, she would come to study. Today, she was very early. For an elf. Elvin sleep schedules were strange. They sometimes woke up extremely early, sometimes extremely late, she was probably the only one who woke up at the same time everyday. Another thing they would make fun of her for. But who cared about them? She was her own person, and she would live her life her own way.

He jogged his way to the building the class was taking place in. It's one of those new, city-campus colleges like NYU, y'know? He entered the building. He walked up to the class and took a seat. At least he wouldn't have to think about anything for a few hours.

The problem is... Kendo's mind never shuts off. He fiddled with the Rubix cube, as he scribbled down notes. The thing he hated about college the most was the people. These rich, snobby brats looked down on him because he was poor and only ever wore a black jacket and the same crumpled white shirt and baggy black pants to classes. All he could think of was... ugh. why was it Theo? The damned barista made it so hard to focus...

He sat in the break room, arms crossed and staring off into the distance. It could've been my fault. Or he could've been playing those mind tricks. ... Why am I sitting back here? There's a coffee shop to run...is he that important to my life? He mindlessly ran his hands through his hair as a stress reliever.

Stop thinking about him. You have a coffee shop to run, idiot. While it may not be busy, there were customers, and he needed the money. ...did I mess it up? He quietly left the break room and started making drinks for the few customers, but of course he was zoning out during it.

Athena noticed that Theo seemed distracted. But she didn't bring it up. It was none of her business, and she had more important things to do. Like get to class. Packing up, she headed out, walking into the woods to her 'school'. Most stereotypes about elves weren't actually true. But certain ones were, like the fact that they were nature protectors, were true. And nature protectors they were, their schools were all set in natural areas, preaching about plants and animals. Which Athena enjoyed greatly. That was probably the only normal thing about her.

After just an hour or two, the class was over. He left the classroom. As he walked "home" he flipped through his wallet. nearly empty, save for a 50-dollar bill for emergencies. Other than that, he had about... 8 dollars left. He only earned around... 150 dollars a week. That was when he was working 2-3 hours a day every week, and it barely covered his living wages. He would never take help from anyone, especially not Theo, because he didn't want to burden anyone.
