Ester makes sure Failnaught is working properly by aiming the bow at a tree. Once her arrow starts to glow she fires it, sending it towards the tree at high speeds.

The king of the underground killed me, and put this thing in a glass jar, so he could break a magical barrier that was made my human mages centuries ago, but he resurrected me by holding the jar too close to my coffin, and then I woke up, took my soul back and managed to reason with the king to let me live."

She shows her bow, which appears to be made of bones, to them. There is a slight glow that seems unnatural surrounding it, and in the center where her arrows will rest again is a small stone that seems almost different to the rest of the bow
