Peregrine finished her perusing of the words and just stood there for a moment, taking in the implications. Would she really go? It could just as easily be a trap as it could be important; pixies were so rare, their intentions couldn't be truly discerned. Going would leave her family alone, with no provider, no defender. However, she'd taught Karmen to use a bow, and he was quickly catching up to her in skill... Yes, this was too important to risk passing up; the kingdoms were certainly in chaos, and that was good for no one. Call it simply the defensiveness of an older sister, she wanted desperately for the world that her brother would walk into to be one of peace, one where he wouldn't be drafted into the armies and die away from his loved ones. The Boarderlands weren't too far, though still quite a walk. She may as well get going, then, she reckoned.

Each of you travels to the Borderlands, though it may take some time, others longer. That being said, eventually all of you will end up somewhere in the Tangled Wood, a grove of trees on Blue Moutain in the borderlands. Being directly between the Swan and Raven Kingdom, it won't take much trouble for either side to get there. Kayleen herself was already living near the Tangled Wood, and had reached her home. But instead of being able to relax, she felt a horrible tension as she bent over a carved wooden bowl that she used as a makeshift waterbasin. She cupped her hands into the cold river water, and as she went to splash it on her face, she swore she saw the flash of someone else's relfection. Jerking back up, she accidently knocked the waterbasin to the ground, sending a huge crack through it. Muttering angrily under her breath, she picked up the two peices, observing painfully all of the spilled water on the floor. She'd take care of that, and then she needed to get more wood to fix the crack, possibly some tar. Kayleen's now-survival tuned brain immidieantly told her to go to the Tangled Wood, where she could find both. She had used all of the rags she'd made from animal skins on other meager chores to repair and keep clean the abandoned cabin, so she had to hope whatever magic caused water to dissapear would work this time, and she grabbed her bag. Pausing at the door, she hesitated before heading out. She was alone. Nothing but beasts, which she could hide and run from. There was no reason to fight. She kept going, heading into the woods. As she neared the side of the grove that ran closer to the Swans, she swore she heard human footsteps. Immieadiently, the former general froze, ducking into the bushes. Who was this? Why were they hear?....What did they want?

Walking with a cane in check and her bag right beside her, Nuabel walked down the grazed path that was the Tangled Woods. She never liked the name, it was almost saying you'd die if you entered, which probably wasn't true but let's not get too high on our horse.

Nuabel kept her walk and, after a short while, stopped to pull out a piece of paper, which was a map. Practically illegible and almost looks like a four-year-old would write it, this is one of Nuabel's first-ever-made maps with barely any structure to it, but it's hers and she loves it, so, really, did a four-year-old write it? No.
I may seem like a bunch of useless text, but I LIVE HERE and I don't welcome visitors >:(

Margo heard the woman -Kayleen- Behind her. she spun, and sauntered up to the bush where she knew her prey was. "You MIGHT as well come out, you know!" She giggled at the word 'might' and she drew her knife. "I'm here to KILL you! Come out so I can finish my job!" She sprang at the shrub.

Hearing the sounds of someone behind her, Kayleen reacted immiedieantly, rolling out of the way and onto the path. She sprang to her feet. "They wouldn't send an assasian after me after a year and three months of exile, girl. Even if they did, I doubt you can actually kill me."

Margo laughed, then with a flurry of her hands, stowed her knives away. "Oh, well, mabey I won't try. I JUST need a bit of your blood to send to my employer, because I know that if I don't send proof you are DEAD, he will send more assassin's! Now, your arm, please?" She tilted her head, and held out a hand towards Kayleen. "I don't REALLY want to kill you, after all, you seem to be on the brink of insanity! And, I have a feeling" she patted her head with her free hand "that you are important!" She paused then. "I wonder if she got a letter. That would be interesting!" Said Margo, to nobody in perticular. She paused, then said "I don't give a DAMN about what YOU think. I think she might." Margo shook her head, then focused on Kayleen again.

Kayleen's eyes hardened as she stood up. She now severly regretted her choice of not bringing along her dagger, at least, but that couldn't be helped now. "Listen here, girl. I have fought wars you could never imagine. I once guarded the queen against countless who take the same job as you. I've outrun, outsmarted, and outmanuvered them all. Your-boss, whoever he may be, can send as many assasians as he likes. I know the Blue Moutain like the back of my hand. Maybe I am insane. All this time in exile would drive anyone mad. I will not comply. But-" she hesitated. "What the h*** are you talking about?" Her hand went to her pocket, where her own letter was. Were they one in the same?

The Tangled Wood. Kumi had traveled past only a few times in a past, but she did have an idea of where it was. When she arrived, it was exactly like she remembered: a dark, shadowed mass of trees on the edge of the Swan Kingdom. It had always seemed sinister in a way, and that fact remained the same.

As Kumi started to enter the trees, she froze as she heard the sound of what sounded like two people scuffling among the bushes. She quickly and quietly climbed a tree. Then, Kumi remembered that her hair would glow against the gloom, and put on her hood and waited in the tree.

Peregrine could hear voices coming from nearby. Her first instinct was to go towards them, but she then recalled that this area was supposed to be deserted. Warily drawing her bow and nocking an arrow, the young woman began to slowly move towards the clearing she could see through the bushes and other foliage. The voices had escalated to yelling, causing her to pick up the pace. She'd been trying to keep her steps silent and muffled, but she now figured the shouting would drown their increased volume.

Slipping through the bushes easily, she stopped only once, and that was to free her dress from some thorns it had snagged on. Sure enough, two women looked to be staring each other down in the clearing she had observed. Keeping her bow trained ahead of her, she watched with narrowed eyes, Peregrine waited to see what would come of this. If either of the women attacked, though, she wasn't certain what she would do, as she knew nothing about the situation. Either could be the instigator, either could be an innocent party defending themselves, both could be simply common thieves, though the older of the two certainly didn't look it.

Shiro finally made it to the forest and saw an old lady looking at something. He quietly walked beside her and looked at what she was looking at. ' Two people are fighting?' He thought. One of them looked familiar to him. Then he realized it was the girl he saw before. Why would she be attacking someone though? " Ahem. What's with the scuffle?" he said loud enough for them to stop fighting and look his way.

Margo leaped up, strait into a tree. She leaped across two other trees, and launched into the young woman she had heard in it. She had the girl on her back, one hand on her chest and the other was in the air with one of her knives in hand. "Who are you and what do you want!" She growled, looking around at the other people she had startled. Of course, she had heard them all approach, but didn't really care. "Drop the weapons you idiots, unless you want to be stabbed. Then again, I might not!" She giggled histericaly, the stepped off the girl. She held out a have to help her out. "Sorry about that, you just didn't announce your presence so naturally I attacked you!" She smiled, waiting with her hand out.

Kumi silently got up, ignoring the hand. By the way the other girl expertly jumped through the trees, as it was an uncommon ability, it was clear this girl was dangerous and not to be trusted. But the thing that interested Kumi the most was something the other girl mentioned, about a letter.

Kumi looked up and faced the other girl. 'What do I want? I wanted to cross this forest, but you were in the way', Kumi said flatly.

Margo rolled her eyes, then her expression grew thoughtful. "I wanted to cross this forest as well. . ." she turned to the others, and announced loudly, "I got a letter from a sprite, or fairy, or whatever you want to call it, and it told me to come here." she looked around at everyone there. "I bet my boots that every one of you goat-kissers got one too!" Margo placed her hands on her hips and spun to face the forest. "I'm going, but I don't know about you. You're welcome to come with me, but don't expect to keep up." She began to stride briskly towards the forest.

"That little-" Kayleen was starting to become even angrier. Especially with all of these new presences. "Call me a goat kisser one more time, you little whelp, and I'll strangle you. But I need to know what this letter really means, so I'll go with you. But at least tell me who you are, girl." Her eyes went to to the others around her, her body unmoving. "All of you. I don't get visitors often."

Kumi's silvery laughter echoed in the forest.

'A goat kisser, huh? You have some creative insults. However, I think I can make it on my own, without your 'help'.'

Kumi turned towards the older female and addressed her.

'Visitors? You live here? How interesting. About myself, I'm from the Swan Kingdom, nice to meet you.' Kumi dipped her head respectfully.

Kayleen nodded in return. There was no use hiding her identidy, she had been exiled long enough that most everyone had forgotten her, most likely. "General, or, you might say, former general Kayleen. Exiled and been living here ever since." She didn't bother giving any more information then that, they could have whatever opinions of her that they wanted.

Margo jumped up into one of the outer trees, and said in a lofty tone, "I'm Margo! My parents were swan. Former general, huh? And a simple girl from swan." She looked at the younger female, and said " that doesn't tell much. Who were your parents? And I use past tense for a reason!" She grinned creepily, then fell backwards out of the tree (on purpose) and snatched another tree close by, to hang upside down looking at the group."oh, and what is your name?"

Nuabel walked down the path that her map told her to go down, it was a light brown and dusty one, but quite the scenic route. A few creeks, berry bushes, and mossy trees scattered the rugged terrain of this forest, but, after admiring it all, Nuabel heard catfighting, close to her. She took it off as some animals joining the cycle of life, but then she heard announcing and greetings.

Nuabel walked toward the noise and peeked in the bushes to see who in the world was in this forest.
