Scriptus wrapped it around Temporus and dragged him with it.
Temporus said:
"Can you stop treating me like an animal?! I just attempted to rid
us of the Shades! Killing Vestige was just a bonus- it gets in our
way all the time!"
Scriptus said:
"I'm treating you like an animal because you act like one. You
really need to learn the definition of the word 'friend'."
"We're almost there. By the way, Vestige, I don't think your knight
would be okay with you leaving like this. Think about it like this-
Temporus attempted to kill you, but ended up saving your life. Had
he not followed you, the Shades would have ambushed you and ripped
you to pieces in no time. If Temporus hadn't left, I wouldn't have
pursued him and the Shades would kill you too quickly for Relic to
arrive."
"Don't let the name 'Shadewood' fool you- there were only like two
or three Shades in there before. Maybe they've managed to form a
tribe and settled down in the woods to prey on unsuspecting
travelers."
"One night when I was younger I took a walk through the forest with
that artifact on me. That was my first encounter with the Shades. I
killed them, but lost the artifact. To this day I don't know where
it is. All I know is... what it does."
"This is the journal's full history. A knight from the north named
Sigmund defeated the creature and sealed it in the journal. One
night Sigmund's satchel was stolen by a thief named Riven- as was
the journal. A man with weird magical powers named Stratus knocked
Riven out and took the journal from him. Stratus returned with the
journal, announcing his intentions to use its powers for evil. I,
having no other choice, killed Stratus and took the journal from
him to protect it. I lost it in the forest, where a thief probably
took it. This journal's owners seem to follow a cycle- knight, then
thief, then mage."
