Free glanced at a window, still in the air, and thought about
escaping. But then again, other animals were obviously more
desperate than her. She flew out of the room and to the cages, then
glanced at all the animals and guards in thought. "Cool it, dude.
I'm not gonna escape." She sighed as a guard threatened to test on
her. She soared over the cages freely, enjoying being able to fly.
"I'm getting used to things."
1-0 went back from the lab after the emergeny and checked on Free.
1-0 followed her carefuly, making sure that she didn't let any test
subjects escape.
1-0 remembered the time. It was useful to have a clock in your
head. "Off Vixen's cage. Your wing stretching time is over. Thank
you for participating nicely. If you continue to behave you will
have more time out of your cage Monday." 1-0 announced.
Free shrugged and flew back to her cage, but not before leaning
over and saying into Vixen's cage, "Lucky Vixen. Your cage is so
much warmer than mine." She sat down in her own and sighed. "And to
think I was starting to enjoy things."
Stone rolled his eyes. "Lil' miss perfect, aren't you?" He sighed
sarcastically. "Yep!" She meowed smirking while he face-pawed. "Of
course you get time out of your cage." "What's the matter?
Jealous?" She teased, purring. He turned away from her. "Just shut
up and 'behave.'"
Lion lie boredly in his cage, the end of his tail flicking angrily.
The only animals he could talk to were a grumpy raccoon and a
strange winged cat. The other cat got to spend time out of her
cage. Lion was terribly jealous, but he also started to think it
was a goody-two-shoes scientist's pet. How could anyone get on
1-0's good side that easy? How could she get on any of 1-0's sides?
1-0 was emotionless and cold. Lion hated pretty much everything in
this lab. He simply lied there, glaring at the floor.
1-0 walked along the halls. She made sure all the cell doors were
locked. She sat on a concrete bench. "Report: Day 112 of the INH
lab was a success. 3 experiments excaped captivity, but positive
reinforcement was used to prove that good behavior brings rewards.
Obeying authorities is key." she said. As long as 1-0 was the
authority, she was happy. She lied down on the bench and her blue
glowing eyes turned off. She turned on sleep mode.
Luxa researched the database for information on the test subjects.
She went through the lit, trying to decide who should be tested.
She viewed the security camera footage of cage 53. The fire and ice
wolves had produced an interesting fire and ice ball. She then
checked the camera footage from the other cages. Free was behaving
nicely, Stone was ok, Vixen and Lion have been showing increased
anger in the past few days. Luxa debated who to test in her head.
"Like I'm not?" Free sighed, overhearing Flare and Snow. "It's
kinda cool to fly, but suddenly I'm back here..." She groaned
half-angrily, and flicked her tail.
"Shut up, will you?" Stone muttered, annoyed by her ability to
leave the cage. "How the heck did you get out anyway? Did you hack
the bolt-cat's systems?" "No. She just... let me out." She meowed,
half-lying. "I dunno. She said I'm behaving or whatever." She said,
stretching. "You must think you're so special." He scoffed.
"No. I don't." She mewed, lying down.
1-0 awoke. She had received a message from Luxa to retreive a
subject for testing. She thought for a second, than walked up to
Stone and Free's cage. "Stone has been selected for testing. Please
step forward." she said to Stone, than took a tranquilizer dart and
gun from her chest compartment with her tail.
Lion saw 1-0 approaching the cages. He watched fearfully, but then
she passed. "Thank god it wasn't me.." he whispered to himself and
shivered.
Free stared at 1-0 with wide eyes, surprised and very uneasy. She
heard no reaction from Stone as his name was mentioned. He blinked
and sighed, then glared at her, and stepped up. "Let's get this
over with." He growled. "I almost feel sorry for him..." She sighed
as the cage door closed. "Oh and by the way, I think I know that."
She told Flare sweetly.
"Thank you for participating nicely." 1-0 said. She was quite
suprised that Stone willing stepped up. Most of the test subjects
resisted and fought when they had to be tested. She shot Stone with
the tranquilizer, and he became tired and weak, maybe even a little
dizzy. She lead him to the testing room. She put him in a large
glass box, with a variety of gadgets on the ceiling above it.
Within a few minutes Stone woke up, and Luxa waited for him to get
back to normal.
1-0 trotted out again and sat on the concrete bench to watch the
subjects.
