Karl Marx Rowdon, 17

Karl and Chase had known each other for a long time. When I mean that, I mean bad relationships. Karl was kicked out from several schools for his bullying and picking on weak kids.

But then came Chase. The boy who was the easiest to bully. He barely spoke, meaning he rarely defended himself. And he had great points to pick on.

So when they both ended up in a remedial class during the end of the world, Karl couldn’t think any better but to annoy him.

He headed over to where Chase was standing by the window. Tapping in Chase’s shoulder, he said,

“Hey Chase! How are you doing? Oh wait, I don’t even need to ask, you’re probably doing horrible. You hate people talking continuously right? Then I’ll make my sentences quick and short!”

Chase groaned and muttered, “Go away, Karl.”

Karl grinned evilly. “What was that Chase? Can’t you speak a little louder? Oh right, you’re a stupid mute freak. What a bore.”

Chase clenched his fists in anger and grumbled.

“You’re such a failure. Your parents would be ashamed to see their son is a stupid baby mute freak who can’t even talk!” He was getting warning signs from the student teacher, Mr. Lorenzo or whatever, but he didn’t care.

“You’re probably not even a human, you’re a ghost! Do you even know how to talk? It’s such a shame your parents died, because you were too busy being a silent stupid mute freak ghost!”

Karl had done it. “SHUT UP! SAY ONE MORE WORD ABOUR MY PARENTS AND I’LL END YOU!” Chase screamed.
Everyone looked at him. That was the first thing Chase had said. Chase turned around and stood in a corner.

Karl grinned and sniggered evilly. “What a freak.” He said loudly.

Maverick Ambani's POV

Oooh, spicy. Things were getting heated in here. Maverick’s lips curled into a pout, and he waved a lazy hand like he was shooing away smoke.

“Heyyy. Karl, right? No need to pick on the kid. He’s just quiet. Nothin’ wrong with that!”

“Something you could learn a thing or two from,” Henry muttered, his voice as sharp and bitter as a dagger.

Maverick only grinned wider, tilting his head. He loved when people thought they were clever— it made their eventual humiliation taste that much sweeter. Henry answered with the tiniest twitch of his right eye, a tell Maverick tucked away for later.

Come to think of it… ricooo over there had said something that made Maverick’s ears perk. Interesting. But he’d leave him be. For now, anyway.

Henry Wright’s POV

Tch. Straight-up bullying, right out in the open? These people really were neanderthals.

Henry dusted off the cuff of his sleeve and snorted under his breath. The longer he was trapped in here, the more he feared their barbarism might rub off on him.
