Anne pursed her lips and awkwardly wandered a couple of feet away, strolling up to one of the control panels and brushing her fingers across it. There were far too many buttons and switches--she hated not knowing what any of them did--and only one label that simply read "General" in demonic. She walked the other direction and began to snoop through the file cabinets, idly whistling a soft tune.
"Oh~ I found a list of government-run airship repair stations," she said, calling out to the other two. "It'll probably be a good lead on some of the more recent bases... wait, do either of you work in the rebel army?"

"Oi! Excuse me, sir, that's my perching spot!" Void cried, his ears pushed against his head in annoyance at the sudden stranger--although he wasn't sure if Wither knew him or not.
Wither sighed and rolled her eyes, looking over at the cat with exasperation in her voice. "Listen, I apologize about the inconvenience, but I can assure you that the alarms were set under important precautions for a matter that is now resolved."

Crysia grimaced when he talked about her maternal instincts, biting her bottom lip softly to refrain from insulting him. Instead, she listened intently to what Jackson said about his mother with her cheek cupped in her hand.
"I've seen the way she talks about you, Jackson," she responded, her voice softening and her words careful, "everyone in the palace damn well knows that you're the only thing she truly cares about. I do believe that's why she never carefully mothered you--because she didn't know how, but she feared ruining you. Monty is a kind soul and, diplomatically, I'm sure it was safer to have her only soft spot stowed away."

Rain lightly tapped Scarlet's shoulder and pointed, weakly, in the direction of the tree. By now the darkness had completely overtaken it, dripping from what used to be its leaves. A small rumbling noise emitted from it and Reign glanced back at his brother before taking small steps towards it with his weapon raised. The mass began to redirect and slowly spread towards Reign as if it had suddenly acknowledged him, to which Rain nervously lurched forward to put a hand on his brother's shoulder to stop him from walking even closer.

"I'm Fallow," she said softly, although she was sure he already knew her name. She took his hand and shook it, meeting his gaze briefly before pulling away. Minnow had always taught her to smile during a handshake, but she couldn't bear to muster one at the moment; Umbra's hand was cold and there was something about him that was still off-putting to her.

Her hand flinched when he grabbed it but, after silent contemplation, she relaxed. I shouldn't have told him, Silver thought, the warmth of his breath only reminding her of death and the Force. If she was lucky enough, they wouldn't even know Mango existed and she would be able to leave without a trace.
She pulled away and stood up. "I have to go, Mango. You've... been nice. Thank you," she said bluntly, unable to meet his gaze. She gathered her things and walked towards the door.

"No, she doesn't~" Belle shot back, mocking his tone. She propped herself up and watched him leave, knowing that she should go out to stop him. She laid there and contemplated her options for a long moment before pulling the blanket over her shoulder and burying her face in the pillow, figuring that her warnings were enough effort and Jasper would handle it if need be.

Fallow bent her head but listened to Jasper's explanation, a bit on the edge but mostly reassured. Dawn trusts him, she thought to herself, her attention snapping to the door when she heard it open. Her fingers held her throw pillow ever so slightly tighter, aching for Fawn's presence, but she inhaled deeply to calm herself.
"Hello, Umbra," Jasper said calmly, smiling softly at him before Fallow could say anything. "I don't believe you two specifically have met?"

Crysia laughed and shook her head. "That's never been my thing."

Reign glared around before nodding to a specific tree, which Rain squinted at. He slowly stood up and skimmed through the leaves for danger before realizing that a pulsing lump of shadows was crawling up the bark, a feat that he only noticed once he had stared at the trunk for several seconds. Otherwise, his gaze would have passed over it as a normal tree.

Evie, who already knew that she liked Orion more than Oliver and the other strangers, sighed and walked up to him. She squished Koji's cheeks and pet his ear, to which Koji affectionately made an almost cat-like drilling noise. She did this with a straight face as if she were examining the creature rather than just petting it. Koji licked the tip of her finger with one of his tongues and Evie pulled her hand back to wipe it on her shirt.
"Nah," she said, looking nonchalantly over her shoulder at Oliver. "Orion's a good friend of mine; it's his kill anyways. He's coming with us."

Anne looked over her shoulder and made sure that she walked next to Alexander this time, mostly to ensure his safety, as they went through the operating rooms. Her eyes flicked over her surroundings, taking details in with utmost carefulness but having nothing to do with the information as she knew nothing about airships. Anne figured she'd have to get some pilots to teach her around when they moved.
She strolled along with Alexander whilst looking for the most tightly compacted space she could find, only stopping when she saw Konani's hunched figure on the ground before her. She rushed forward and kneeled next to him, cocking her head and trying to get a look at his face. "Are you alright?" She asked, worried and preparing herself for the worst.

Wither had, at this point, managed to shut off the alarms, reassure the public, and dispose of the corpse. Reassuring the public did mean making several announcements over the speakers and sitting through an unbearably long meeting, but she had managed to dodge enough questions and spew enough empty statements about "safety protocols" and "small mishaps" that Magnolia was completely under the radar. Apologizing and explaining the situation to the victim's family had been stressful, but she had convinced them to keep their mouths shut and the job was done from there.
"Alright, Void~" she called as she strolled through the winding hallways of the base. "Now all we have to do is a bit of paperwork and we'll be done."

She shook her head, her ears pinning against her skull. "I was only able to get out because of... connections that I no longer have." Silver took a deep breath to steady herself.
"If I go out there, I don't believe I'll be able to come back. They'll break my mind and god knows what else they'd do to me, what augmentations they'd use to ruin us..." Her eyes cast to the floor and she began to regret telling Mango in the first place, worrying that she was putting him in a bad spot. I need to stop talking, she chastised herself, he already knows too much.
She hung her head and asked anyway, "Mango, would it be selfish to run? They're inhumane, war-drunk people... I can't do this."

"I'm... good at my job. And they don't particularly like me too much; I've never fit in with them." Silver's lips pinched and her eyes flitted around her before scooting her chair in close, her voice dropping. "I love my job, Mango, but what they do up there in the frontlines... It's terrible stuff. It's not just the war part, either; I hate to say this, but the Feline Kingdom has always been sketchy when it comes to battle."

Her face cast down when she watched him take her cup and she bit the inside of her cheek. Silver's usually motion-packed tail limply hung off the edge of her seat. "I've been called to the war, Mango," she said, her shoulders sloping as if saying it was a physical weight on her body. "The Force... they want me in the action. I was able to escape going once, but avoiding it twice? I can't even imagine what they'd do to me."

Jack nodded, reassured despite thinking that Crystal was being overambitious with the house idea. He hadn't actually lived in a house for more than a week or so in years, much less stayed in one place for long. It was good to know that she was committed to the idea of going to the camp--Jack, on the other hand, was only taking the risk because he had little to lose.
"M'kay," he said simply, sliding underneath the blankets of his bed. "Goodnight, Crystal," Jack mumbled in a sleep-drunken state before finally letting himself rest.

[idk let's call this a week or so later]
"Hey, Mango?" Silver asked suddenly, her tone softened. She tightened her hands around the small cup of tea that she had been holding. Her tone wavered despite her strong composure and her milky brown eyes held his gaze. "I know I haven't known you long, but, um... you've been a nice friend, I guess."

"Let's go inside, then," Anne said simply, pushing herself off the railing and landing soundlessly onto the deck. "This is probably the most open space we have on the ship, anyways." She lightly grazed her fingertips on his upper arm as she walked towards the door.

Anne looked to the side at him, barely catching his words. "Is everything alright?" She asked with concern, wondering where Konani had gone.

"Thank you, Umbra," Belle sighed, pleasantly surprised at his sudden appearance. Justin was nice, but penitence, in general, annoyed her these days--she had thrown her morals out the window around the time she met Jasper. She crossed her arms and leaned against the door, relishing the serenity of the dark room. The muffled conversations in the living room kept them from silence as Belle thought about Fallow, before finally coming to a conclusion.
"I honestly think you two should just stay as far away from her as possible. I'm going to call it a night and I'd recommend you do the same," she said in a more neutral tone--nothing demanding as to not start an argument that she was too tired to fight. Belle climbed up to the top bunk before Justin could kick her out of the room, which he had an annoying tendency to do.

Anne watched, a bit confused by their banter. Konani's sarcasm never ceased to challenge her limited social skills. She strolled slowly to the railing of the deck, hoisting herself onto it and dangling her legs off of the airship. She looked up at the sky, searching for aerial danger, and figured that if they were under attack they would have seen something by now.

Spectrum eased the door open slowly and Kaleidoscope entered, brushing against his ankles as she padded past him. "K-kali, what's going on? Are you okay?" He croaked, closing the door and locking it firmly. He followed her to the bed and cocooned himself in the blankets again, noticing that the alarms had turned off. The fluorescent red lights indicated that the base was still on lockdown.
"Everything is fine. Just a little mishap with Magnolia. I spoke to Tony, he's a bit stressed but he's doing better. I do believe we'll be moving soon, though," Kaleidoscope reassured soothingly. She curled up next to Spectrum, clearly exhausted, and rested her head on her paws.

Belle's unsettling periwinkle eyes remained stone-cold, following his face steadily. It was a common practice for her, hiding emotion, but this time it was apparent that she had minimal guilt towards Maxwell. A small part of her knew that her lingering resentment for Draco had something to do with it but Draco was a part of her past that she refused to return to.
"I'm sure whatever manipulation Jasper's forced into her brain will keep her feeling safe among... well, just us. It's a tight situation, I know, but as long as we keep her away from the barn--and for that matter, Dawn too--it'll be fine. She loves her sister and she's very mentally broken. Just... play along, alright? That's all I need."
She pressed her back against the door and took a long sigh. "The situation with Maxwell is temporary, anyway."

Rowan sighed and rolled his eyes, his fingers flexing tightly to get over his annoyance of Willow. Her inconsistent aggression only bothered him even more. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and typed out updates as he walked back to Rosenberg in hopes that he could still rid of the evidence.

Jack stared blankly out of the window and watched raindrops merge into each other on the pane. The sheets of constant rain obscured their view of the sky with flurries of gray--all Jack could think about was how inconvenient it would be to travel in post-rain. Good for hiding and whatnot, but he had never been fond of cold or rainy weather. The loud clinks against the roof of the motel was an ease off the anxious thoughts that flurried in his mind.
"Hey, Crystal?" He called, curling his tail around so that the tip barely touched his lap. "Is this... really a good idea?" He bit his lip when he asked the question. Crystal wasn't quite the most stable person to dump all of his worries on. "I mean, we should at least have a backup plan in case... well, in case the refugee camp doesn't actually exist."

Rowan twisted her hand in a sharp motion and pushed it away from his shirt collar, straightening his jacket and stepping back from her with a glower that darkened his entire face and seemingly everything around him. He readjusted his glove. "How the f**k do you expect me to know?" He snapped, his tone twisted with anger reminiscent of his father.
"I'll say it again, I'm sorry that we happened to be close to what was probably a bunch of gang f**kery at the worst possible time, but I don't know what the hell you expect me to do about it," Rowan lowered his tone and steadied it, matching her growl with an even darker one. "I don't know how many close encounters you've had in this craphole but I highly recommend you just carry on with your day and staying as far away from danger as possible since we both damn well know that this won't be the last time something like this happens here."
