[Perhaps I could get a spawn, too? You know, to get the chance to level up as well. :)]

Kage looks at the two pokemon and sighs. Charmander then takes a battle stance, looking as if back in shape, even though her health is still low; she goes further into the forest, unable to sit back anymore, hoping to encounter another opponent.

Kage and Deerling quickly follow. "Oh well. Might as well bump into Arceus itself. She won't back off from that," Kage meditates aloud, pleased with her partner's motivation.

"Will take good care of you," Kage smiles, lifting the Pokeball from the ground and letting Deerling out.

Kage: *patting her head* Good! Now, I wonder what more awaits us in this forest. *looking towards Taike* They're doing a good job, aren't they?

Charmander and Deerling turn to watch Taike's battle. The reptilian pokemon throws a sour and disbelieving look at Deerling when she's not looking.

	[Outstanding work (and skill!) on the Pokedex, @Taike. Got to say that again and again.] Kage looks at her Pokedex surprised. She puts it back, and turns to look towards where Deerling has just been, wondering if the fawn would agree to stay inside the Pokeball. [Read more]

[Alright, let's just assume Deerling had its health restored somehow - Kage gave it some berries while helping with its wounds.]

Charmander suddenly wakes up and eyes Deerling with a daunting glare. She hops off Kage's arms and lands a Scratch on the now fearful Deerling.

Kage: Charmander! *with a reprimanding tone* She's just recovered. We don't do that-... Oof. *looks at Deerling, who hid behind Kage at once* I'm really sorry about that. We didn't mean to hurt you...

Kage turns to look at Charmander, who averts her gaze and folds her arms bitterly. Deerling peeks at Charmander, then, after a few moments, nudges Kage's shoulder bag, making one empty Pokeball fall.

Kage: *surprised* Do you want to...come with us?

Deerling nods. Kage thinks for a moment, then smiles.

Kage: It would be a pleasure. I'll make sure to take care of you.

Kage then gently touches Deerling's head with the Pokeball, hoping she would stay in there.

Kage takes a step back, watching Taike and Solosis battle and checking on Charmander from time to time, who's still asleep. Suddenly, she hears some rustling sounds from a nearby bush, along with a soft whimper. She comes closer and notices a little Deerling (Autumn), visibly in pain. "Oh dear... How have you-"

Deerling flinches and looks at Kage with apprehension. Kage's smile and reassurance manage to ease its nerves, however. Seeing the bandages on the Charmander in her arms, the pokemon thinks Kage may actually want to help, and that there's no need to be afraid.

Kage tends to Deerling's wounds, and the little pokemon rises on its feet with ease. It looks at Kage and slowly and cautiously nears in. A rub on its head and Deerling sways its tail contently.

	"I'm not sure Charmander can take on another pokemon, at least not for a while," Kage thought, her fire partner fast asleep in her arms. Kage: The North West path looks somewhat quieter. I'd very much like to join at least one of you there, but if you go the other way, I shall follow. I don't think Charmander can battle for the time being, so we're pretty much exposed... [Read more]

Charmander fell on the ground, bruised and worn out. Kage lost no time and knelt just beside, tending to Charmander's wounds and praising the pokemon's efforts. Charmander quickly fell asleep, and Kage stood up, one hand patting the pokemon's head.

"That was tougher than I expected. But a well-deserved victory nonetheless," she pondered. Kage then wondered if they would find a Pokemon Center in the city that lay ahead.

Kage: *to Taike, whom she saw nearby* I'm sure you'll have plenty of chances to catch another, don't worry.

Charmander looked back at Mareep, equally impressed with the other pokemon's skill. Flashing her baby fangs at Chatot, she prepares for another Ember, determined to fight till either victory or exhaustion.

Kage: Good! *looking briefly at Colt and Mareep, then back to Chatot and Oddish* We've got this. Let's lead our partners to victory. Charmander, use Ember!

Charmander complied, bouncing at full speed and attacking Chatot from above.

Meanwhile, Kage glanced at Taike and Solosis, unable to contain an amused and surprised face. "That's some strategy I wouldn't have thought of," she said to herself.

But the pokemon was in a complete frenzy. After taking the attack, Charmander banged heads with Chatot, and, just then, some fine lines of bright crimson gathered in the corners of her mouth.

Looking at her pokemon, Kage could recognize the fighting spirit that she hoped for. "She won't back down, nor withhold her power. Then, I can only do one thing...," Kage thought, assessing the situation before slightly narrowing her eyes.

Kage: Charmander, use Ember!

Charmander opened her mouth, blazing hot flames enveloping the bird pokemon.

	Charmander flinched upon seeing the wild pokemon, but soon the fire in her tail grew a tad larger, as if ready to face any unknown danger. Kage takes out the Pokedex and points it towards each of the new pokemon, even though she knew them very well. Much to her surprise, Charmander hops off her shoulder and repeatedly uses Scratch on the Chatot of her own will. [Read more]

(Charmander hops on Kage's shoulder and, after lightly brushing her head against Professor Juville's shoulder, looks at the region's map - her tail swaying with excitement.)

Kage: No worries. We'll make sure to return here and visit the Professor, that I promise you. *then looks at her Pokedex* Hmm. Singing Forest sounds like an interesting place. What about checking that first?

(As her Charmander seemed intent on going for that route, she took that as a 'yes'.)

Kage: *looks at Professor Juville* We'll be heading to the forests. See you, Professor! Stay safe.

(Kage goes outside and, after taking a few seconds to gaze at the morning sunlight, she walks towards the Singing Forest.)

Kage: Why, hello! Seems like we'll be journey-mates, as it were.

(Shifting her gaze back to the pokemon, Kage locked eyes with the fire-type one, Charmander. Without a second thought, she reached for the little reptilian pokemon and patted its head. The Charmander seemed content, a scrutinizing look on its face.)

Kage: I'll choose you. Charmander, right?
Charmander: *nods* Char char!

Kage: I wonder if whoever is going to be will like me. This must be what you felt like on your first day too, right, Professor?
