That's so true !
I've been playing Genshin for about a year now and was F2P for like the first half of that
But even as a kind of whale - I feel like I don't actually make much more progress, than when I wasn't?
That being said, I still have a couple of built characters - depending on what you consider to be built
And most, of which, Meta players would probably scream at me for, considering the 5-stars I do have but have left to rot c':

Amber is still probably my absolute favourite and spoilt character: best girl, I love her so much ♥
If it weren't for her kit, and her constellation obtainability, I'd triple crown her
But for now, she can hold onto the one I've given her for her normal attacks
She's, otherwise, maxed out ♥

And then there's Ningguang who is, currently, the only character that I have triple crowned ♥
~~Because I'm a shameless simp for her~~
However, I'd also love to triple crown Eula, and possibly Rosaria, because I've grown to appreciate her a lot
And maybe Beidou (my most recent build) if her playstyle is able to grow on me -
I believe the only other character of mine that has a crown is Bennett for his Alt

I've tried making lists of characters to build, but they always fail me aha-
Like, I'll build a character halfway, and then I'll suddenly become interested in someone else
I'd love to finish off some of my level 80 characters
Whilst there are characters at level 90 whose talents I'd like to get up just a tad more
Then there's characters like my Jean, Noelle, Razor, who were fine, but I've somehow ruined and need to rebuild completely ^^"
I'd like to blame that on bad artifact luck-

Just finished the first and second parts of the Elixir event - work hasn't given me much time to play ;w;
I did the first in the order of 4-3-1-2, and by the time I got to 1, I was able to use the characters from 4 again -

Kazuha - Sucrose - Fischl - Barbara (trial 4 - gold)
Bennett - Yoimiya - Rosaria - Eula (trial 3 - gold)
Beidou - Fischl - Xiangling - Diona (trial 1 - gold)
Bennett - Ningguang - Rosaria - Eula (trial 2 - gold - 2 attempts)

And for part 2: 4-3-2-1

Barbara - Shenhe - Rosaria - Eula (trial 4 - gold)
Childe - Chongyun - Diona - Xiangling (trial 3 - gold - 2 attempts)
Bennett - Sucrose - Shenhe - Eula (trial 2 - gold)
Ningguang - Beidou - Barbara - Xiangling (trial 1 - silver)

Both Shenhe and Yunjin are home !
I love Yunjin's design so much ;w; May probably build her after Shenhe

- surrounded by beaches of soft sand and the glimmering sea, Kōkōtaru was once just a modest coastal town. But since the construction of its Contest Hall, it's become a bustling hot spot for tourists, both native and from afar, and continues to grow, still.

plot note: Sudden commotion at the lab draws the attention of nearby trainers, but are prevented by a group of Team Tempest Grunts from getting close. There's a sudden tremor and noise that sounds like an ongoing battle inside. When the doors finally open, the Champion Arashi emerges from a cloud of smoke, followed by a Honchkrow holding a Pokéball between its beak, and flee the scene together.

Professor Yuuka can be found inside, unharmed but shaken up. She explains that a Pokémon has been stolen and that, as the childhood friend of the Champion, something seems off about Arashi. Hesitantly, she provides starter Pokémon for the new trainers and requests that they, along with the guidance of the Elite 4, figure out what's going on.

- due to the marshy ground below, the town itself has been built within the canopies of the trees, like treehouses, linked together by junctions of sturdy wooden ramps and bridges. The structure is frequently enjoyed as a playground by wild Aipom, and whilst they don't mean any harm, they can sometimes be a little troublesome.

He, jokingly, offers his help to clear the blocked route, if the trainers are able to beat him in a battle. After beating him, he offers them a bed for the night, with free food and milkshakes at the cafe. Blakely later disappears and returns the Combee. Bee can be found the next day waiting at Route 3, rewarding the group with her Gym Badge for helping her.

He describes that similar looking people had run off with his tools a couple of days ago, but it had been too foggy in the mountain, so he was unable to pursue them. After clarifying that he doesn't need the tools and that the group could keep them if found, he wishes them luck before returning to the cabin.

also, I've only added 'mons upto the Kalos dex, primarily bc I underestimated how difficult deciding encounters would be -

After a series of tremors - sourced from somewhere within Mt. Hageshī - shake the Tennokai region, its residents suddenly find themselves stranded, shrouded by a violent storm and an everlasting downpour, which has made travelling of any sort unsafe. Because of this, people have been advised to stay put in the safety of their homes, leaving only to collect essentials if necessary. It also meant that new trainers have been unable to collect their starters and begin their journies.

Furthermore, the Pokémon League Challenge has also been postponed, temporarily, until the bizarre weather passes, causing gyms all over the shut their doors and even the evacuation of the Elite 4 members from the Pokémon League. Well - all but the current Champion who, stubbornly, refused to leave her work, opting to stay behind instead to take care of the place.

It's been a week since. There's been no word from the Champion and the storm remains persistent, causing devastating flooding in many areas of the region. If things couldn't get any worse, a group proclaiming themselves to be members of 'Team Tempest' have suddenly begun showing up in towns, terrorising the people and forcefully taking their Pokémon. But for what reason?

Character Name: Arashi Toba

Age: 21

Gender, Pronouns: Female, She/Her

Appearance

Arashi considers herself fairly tall, standing at around 1.72m (5'8") in her high-heeled boots, with a slender build, 52kgs (115lbs). Her pale-gold eyes are framed by thick lashes, whilst her feather-soft hair is silver, almost white, and smells faintly of vanilla. Contrasting with her charcoal black outfit, her skin is smooth and milk-white. If not already obvious, her dress was designed to resemble that of a bird, likely her Honchkrow, with black wing-like details hugging her waist and collar. Additionally, Arashi has a matching headpiece, plus gloves. Her boots are knee-high, the heels giving her a couple of inches on top of her actual height, which she feels is not important to announce. It may seem like an impractical outfit - it really is - but she's no longer your average trainer running around in the wild.

"What... was that saying..? Calm before the storm?"

Arashi, aka "Storm Rider", is the current reigning champion of the Tennokai Region, who specialises in dark-type Pokémon. Her peers that stand beside her in the league, would probably describe her as a bit of a mystery, whose actions tend to be as unpredictable as the weather, but someone whose good mood should be taken advantage of. Challengers of her region, on the other hand, know "The Storm Rider" for the brutal battles she holds up. As a person who defends her title viciously, she wrings out every last drop of hard work that each trainer has to offer her.

Thus, whilst Arashi may seem completely untroubled on the outside, there's really no telling what may be brewing in her mind. Arashi as herself, rather than "Storm Rider", is a rather awkward person. Since becoming her region's leader, a casual social life has been pretty non-existent, usually resorting to just staying behind in the palace her region's league is set in unless needing to meet with others for business. Travelling as a teen was lonely as others avoided being around for too long because her partner, the Murkrow, was considered to be 'unlucky'. On many occasions did Arashi consider releasing the Pokémon, but would eventually decide against it. Somewhere deep down, Arashi cares and has a lot of love to give, she just is unsure of how to express it.

Obtained many years ago as a sick and injured MURKROW that passersby had ignored out of arrogance and superstition. Now the Champion of the Tennokai Region, HONCHKROW remains Arashi’s partner, and often gives her small, shiny gifts of gratitude to this day. He’s not fond of many other people - if any - but will settle to tolerate them in return for a shiny token or a spicy flavoured treat.

Every time ABSOL appears before people, it is followed by a disaster such as an earthquake or a tidal wave. As a result, it came to be known as the disaster Pokémon.

It took Arashi a long time to gain the trust of, and repair the severe anxiety that had been planted into the Pokémon. The ABSOL had been given to her as a gift by a trainer who had abused the Pokémon so much, as punishment for the 'misfortune' that it was thought to have brought upon them, that they could no longer control it and had been close to releasing it. Absol is now one of Arashi's most loyal team members and enjoys spending evenings cuddling and being groomed by Arashi.

SABLEYE lead quiet lives deep inside caverns. They are feared, however, because these POKéMON are thought to steal the spirits of people when their eyes burn with a sinister glow in the darkness.

Arashi caught the SABLEYE whilst travelling in her younger years, relieving a team of miners from the trickster's pranks. It's fair to say that the Pokémon hasn't changed a bit, and will often wander the halls of the Pokémon League, being a nuisance to Arashi's peers and any unexpecting challengers. It appears to find joy in the spooked reactions of others.

SHIFTRY’s large fans generate awesome gusts of wind at a speed close to 100 feet per second. The whipped-up wind blows anything away. This Pokémon chooses to live quietly deep in forests.

DRAPION’S poison is potent, but it rarely sees use. This Pokémon prefers to use physical force instead, going on rampages with its car-crushing strength.

TYRANITAR is so overwhelmingly powerful, it can bring down a whole mountain to make its nest. This Pokémon wanders about in mountains seeking new opponents to fight.

Itto appears to be a faster attacking Noelle ;w;
His burst is pretty much the same, with the bonus of an increase in attack speed
But his skill is adorable, and apparently OP, if that makes him any better c':

As for Zhongli and Kokomi, I don't have either of them - 2 of the 6 characters I'm missing
So I don't know much about building either of them
But I suppose it would just depend on what you'd want your Zhongli to do/what's needed for your team
Or if you're a casual player, why not use both? c':

I'm pretty sure they both scale off of HP ?
Zhongli would probably be easier to DPS, since he can Crit, and his shield is great if you can't dodge
Kokomi, seems to be pretty decent at healing, plus hydro opens up elemental reactions, unlike geo

If it's a shielder that you want, I'd also recommend looking into Diona or Noelle
Both are decent units if you have them at high constellations
Noelle is pretty easy to build, but you'll probably need a battery since her skill (shield) produces little to no energy
And Diona, whilst her shield isn't too strong, her skill does produce energy, and she heals with her burst
I, personally, like playing her with the Sacrificial Bow (R5), so her skill often resets itself c':

I can only hope that there will be enough wholesome Ningguang content in the next update to soothe my bank account
I don't have any of the up-coming re-runs, and the completionist in me wants them all in case they don't come back for another year, despite knowing I probably won't play any of them, like my other 5-stars
The Ningguang skin is free, however-
I'll be honest and say that I'm not sure how I feel about her in blue (purple?)
But she's so beautiful either way, it doesn't even matter ;w;

At least she's a 4-star - so you'll probably see her on another banner soon c':
Her C6 is really nice if you're running her with a physical build, or as a support for other physically built characters
I've probably said it before, but I like pairing my Rosaria with Eula for that reason
Plus Bennett with his burst and another Pyro character for the ATK bonus-

But, yeah, unfortunately you can't get her cons from the store
I'd hope that they'll eventually swap in new characters
Or add in maybe 1-2 more characters alongside those we already have each month
~~just keep the starter trio in there bc I want my Amber cons~~

The banners are almost over-
I got Albedo, C1 and C2 Eula, and Keqing finally came home
Desperately spending every last primo I have to try for C3 Eula ;w;

Currently grinding artifacts for Keqing
I've given her a 4-piece pale flame, with the bp sword
She still needs a timepiece so I've also been farming the Shimenawa's Reminiscence/Emblem of Severed Fate domain as that's where my luck tends to be
Got a couple of decent pieces of the latter for Beidou
so I'm also on the hunt for an Electro cup and Crit DMG headpiece for her ^^"

From the moment Marot had stepped inside, there appeared to be a chaotic nature to air, which was odd for what she initially thought was going to be a quiet and cosy coffee shop. Giving it the benefit of a doubt, maybe it was what gave the place its charm. Nonetheless, it didn't stop her from wondering if the guy had meant to recommend this place to her. Perhaps she had just come at a bad time? Was she even at the right place, for starters?

"Hi there, welcome to Aurora Crescent Cafe! What can I get for you today?"

Well, that had answered at least one of her questions - definitely the right place. Margot heads over to the counter, taking in her surroundings with quick cautious glances. It's not until she's standing opposite the cashier, that the uncertainty in her eyes disappears, replaced instead with glimmering awe upon seeing all of the person's colourful accessories. In a trance-like state, she's totally oblivious to the barely audible 'wow' that she whispers, taking a second to admire the shiny treasures. But after realising that she's been staring a little too long (and that she's probably holding up the poor guy's morning), Margot diverts her eyes to a nearby menu, her cheeks flushing out of embarrassment.

"Oh, e-excusez-moi... Um, could I, please, get a black tea and a... croissant?"

Opting to take the bus into the city, the ride had been an almost pleasant one. Living on one of the more rural routes, stops were few and far between. There were never many, if any, passengers, either, so Margot pretty much had from every seat to pick from. She settled for the back-most seats. That way, if anyone else did happen to get on board, she wouldn't have to feel their curious gazes burning into the back of her head. A curiosity that knew no better. But perhaps if they could see the things she could, they'd turn a blind eye for once. Besides, who would willingly want to see the darkness of everyone around them, including loved ones? Would they believe her if she'd told them she had already died once?

"Hmm... a zombie doll..?" Margot chuckles to herself as she takes out a small rhinestone covered diary and pen from her purse, not minding the heads turning her way, "Let me make a note of that for next Halloween's shoot..."

The bus jolts forward as it comes to its final stop in the city, the sudden motion almost sending Margot into the back of the seat before her, also causing her to drop her pen. She pouts, watching as it rolls away from her down the aisle to the other side of the bus. She followed behind the other passengers as they made their way off of the bus, her eyes glued to the floor in an attempt to catch a glimpse of her pen. A hand of an older gentleman appears before her, holding said pen out to her.

"Mademoiselle Bellamy! I thought I recognised that face. Your pen?"

"Ah, merci beaucoup!" she thanks, taking back the item.

"May I ask why you're out in the city today, it's not often you leave the estate."

"I figured a change of scenery would do me some good, perhaps do some shopping and try out a new café."

"If you're wanting a recommendation, there's this little coffee shop that I think you'd like. I believe it's called the Aurora Crescent, or something along those lines."

Directions were exchanged, followed by wishing each other a good day before the two parted and Margot was left to navigate the city streets. Where there were people, darkness followed. It was unavoidable: she needed it if she wanted to survive. Being in the modelling industry gave her easy access to just that, people. Draining the energy from those willing to get close to share her image around. Her followers so captivated by her innocent front that they don't think twice about the disappearances of the photographers who had worked with her. A toxic and manipulative industry. More like an all you can eat buffet.

Margot steps into the coffee shop, deciding that getting a bite to eat now would be much less hassle whilst she didn't have to carry around bags of shopping with her.

With tiny hands clasped around the glass, Margot raises it to her lips, taking a sip. Although only briefly, the water's coolness was enough to soothe the unusual dryness of her throat. Setting the cup down on the oak vanity, she peeks back up at her reflection in the mirror. At first glance, Margot didn't think she looked sick. However, with a complexion as fair as snow, it would typically take a little more than 'just a look' to diagnose any ailments. Pressing the back of her hand to her forehead, she wasn't abnormally warm, nor cold. There were also no marks, or rashes, that could offer any possible explanation for why she woke up feeling the way she did. Upon closer inspection, slight dark circles around her eyes were the only thing to note. Fortunately, light make-up would be enough to cover them.

With a couple of dabs of pressed powder, a little red eye shadow, a coat of mascara, and some time later, Margo was ready for the day ahead. Wearing a white, long-sleeved blouse, which had ruffles running down either side of the buttons, and a black collar, paired with a ruffled necktie. Her outfit was complete with a knee-length, black pinafore skirt, white tights, and polished Mary Jane shoes, with bows on the buckles. A large, black and white striped bow adorns the softly curly locks that cascade down past the small of her back. When dressed up like this, 'doll-like' was a common observation people would make about her. 'Child-like' was another. The difference between the two - the latter would have Margot's eye twitch ever so slightly out of annoyance. She was not a child. Thus, having purposely picked out a pair of platformed shoes that would bump up her height up to almost that 5'0 mark she has dreamt of being the last 5 or so years.

Taking the cup from her dresser once more, she drinks the remaining now room-temperature water and leaves her room with the empty glass. After gaining a following for her modelling, Margot had spent a lot of time inside the walls of her home, her parents worried for her safety. But in spite of rarely travelling into the city, staying home wasn't all bad. There was a library filled with all sorts of antique books, the surrounding nature was beautiful, and the Tudor-styled mansion only added to the aesthetic of her portraits. Though, she'd be lying if it didn't get lonely at times, as an only child. Perhaps she'd make a trip into the city, it had been a couple of weeks since she last had. Maybe she'd look for a new dress or two, or try out a new café.

"Maman! Papa! Good morning!" Margot smiles, joining her parents at the dining table for breakfast, toasted quartered baguettes with butter and an array of jams, and fruit juice set aside. They would eat together without any mention of her grogginess as to not trouble them. She was certain that they'd refuse her trip if they knew her health wasn't a hundred percent.

Appearance - From roughly around the age of 13, Margot has since been left a little dishearted by a stunt in her growth that has left her at a meagre 4'10, today. To be just a little bit taller - was that too much to wish for? Lithe limbs; Large, glassy, icy blue eyes; Silk-soft hair; A button nose, and pale, blemishless skin: all only added to her child-like appearance. For now, she'd just have to cope with the double-edged sword that came with her petiteness. On the one hand, it upset her that her parents were frequently under fire by the public's harassment, with claims such as child abuse, neglect and exploitation of their daughter's appearance for money being constantly thrown their way. On the other, Margot found enjoyment and confidence from modelling, her portraits often capturing a creepy, yet beautiful, porcelain dollesque, rather than an actual emotive human.

Personality - With her status as a model, soft-spoken Margot does her best to stick to good etiquette whilst out in public, due not wanting to give them any more of a reason to try to cancel her. She just wishes to be treated like everyone else, and not like a child. Ironically, those who accidentally do mistake her for so, are usually met with a childish pout - "Hmph, just so you know, I am an adult, okay? I'll let it slide, just this once! But next time...". Do not fear, Margot is practically harmless and is more likely to be knocked over by a gust of wind. She does, however, have an odd obsession with anything shiny. Known as 'Magpie Syndrome' - a fascination with shiny objects, which may result in a short-lived obsession or the even compulsive need for the sufferer to claim/pocket it to add to a collection. Margot has a collection of her own, including things like: odd keys, jewellery, stones, bottle caps, but mostly spare change. Because of this, she usually only carries money in the form of notes or credit cards, not wanting to part with her polished pennies.

Backstory - Before Margot had died for the first time, she didn't have the life of luxury that she now lives. Instead, she had been born [unplanned] to a working-class couple who struggled to earn enough to feed themselves. Somehow, they made it work, and when Margot was older, going to school wasn't an option. She took to the streets, rummaging through garbage, stealing from market stalls, pick-pocketing whatever she could, just so that her family had something that they could either eat or sell. More often than not, dinner would be nothing, spoilt food, or sometimes even dirt if they were desperate enough. However, despite her efforts, they would not be enough as she would later pass away from severe malnutrition before even reaching adulthood.

I'd - personally - say that it would depend on what world level you are
Like, if you're below AR45, I probably wouldn't bother grinding for decent artifacts

I suppose it would also depend on who you're building, what you're building them as, and ig you weapon flexibility ?

For the majority of my characters - and depending on the artifact main stat - I try to make sure that 3/4 of my sub stats are:
Crit DMG + Crit Rate + ATK%

Realistically, that doesn't happen to me very often so I'd also be happy with something like:
Crit Rate/DMG + ATK% + Energy Recharge + HP

I tend to stop rolling on an artifact the moment I get 2/3 rolls into something like flat ATK/DEF or Elemental Mastery
Although, Elemental Mastery is more of a personal thing, since I don't focus too much on making Elemental Reactions

From my experience, it's much easier to get a 'godly' artifact, on flowers or feathers

Try to use artifacts that already have 4 sub stats at level 0 (so that'll be your 5-star ones)
Otherwise, you're essentially wasting a roll

But say you get an artifact with 3/4 sub stats, but they're like:
Crit + ATK% + ATk
I'd consider it an artifact that - if I didn't have anything that was better imo - I'd level to level 4, to see the last stat
And then decide what to do with it

As examples:
an artifact I'd consider using if I had a character for it vs an artifact I would use as fodder
and
an artifact I'd risk levelling for another decent sub stat vs the same artifact levelled, which will now go to fodder

It's totally up to you though, and how you'd like to play
Even 'bad' artifacts can be considered somewhat 'godly' if all their rolls happen to be dumped into their single Crit sub stat aha

So, I'm super happy and will probably see about trying for C2 Eula
Also really enjoying the new event-
Haven't done any of the new hangouts yet - a tad busy with work-
