Surprised to see him crying, she stepped forward and lightly embraced him. "Y-yeah, okay... calm down," Dawn reassured, flustered but wanting to help him anyway.
"Jasper's... not the kindest. I'll handle the situation, talk to both of them..." She sighed and stepped back. There was nothing on her face that showed the slightest surprise from what she heard.
"It's okay, Justin. You're okay. This isn't your fault and I'm glad you told me. There's no need to be guilty--just hang back for now, alright? Don't mention letting Maxwell go to anyone here. Go get some rest. You need it." She patted him lightly on the arm and turned around to walk to the barn, rubbing her goosebump-infested forearm as the winds began to pick up again.
------------
"Fawn's uneasy as well." Robin glanced over at the group of animals, who seemed to be comfortable. He would have to take caring for Dusk in his own hands. Skye walked over sipping her tea and sat on the nearby loveseat; she said nothing.
-------
Mavis paused before responding. Tendrils of darkness circled around her person but the moment Xena mentioned it everything seemed to stop progressing--Mavis was able to stop it from getting worse, but getting herself completely under control didn't seem to be an option. "I don't... think I was ever taught how," she replied, images of power-related mishaps flashing in her head. She didn't remember any of them, nor did she know the context, but she knew that it wouldn't be the first time her darkness had won over her.

Reign silently raised an eyebrow as he noticed the silver chain that barely poked out around the stranger's neck. He reached out a hand to fish it out, unwisely, and flinched back and hissed in pain when his skin made contact with it. The light tug was still enough to reveal the cross pendant, which now sat on top of the stranger's clothes. Reign's suspicions had been confirmed and he was now regretful that he had dropped his confidently outstretched arm when he felt the slightest bit of pain (which would later leave a faint burn mark on his hand, but he wasn't concerned with checking).
"Get out of here, priest. We don't want to fight you," Rain said, surprisingly boldly. He flanked Scarlet closely, his hands raised in case of attack.

Jack's teeth gritted and rage began to claw at his throat again. "Don't open them. I'll take care of it later," he promised breathily, weaving his way through the marketplace and looking over the gaps in the crowd for any signs of alleyways or protection. There was the occasional grunt or complain from the crowd, especially from Crystal--she couldn't see, after all--but Jack kept sprinting through. He didn't look back, both because he was occupied with running and because he was deathly afraid that they had found them.
Jack slipped in between a narrow slit and slowed down slightly as he turned to the next alleyway to the left. He continued to lead Crystal through alleyways, gradually slowing down; he only stopped moving when they were hidden from the public eye by an underpass. "They... won't follow us this far just for stealing food. It's safe now, sit down," he suggested softly, slowly sitting down as well.

Dawn shook her head. Her arms were crossed tightly in front of her and she looked him up and down, silently; she was wearing shorts despite the chilly winds of the night but she didn't seem to be bothered by it. Her eyes were softened with concern. "What did you do, Justin?... You're a good kid, you know. Maybe even the last one in this damn house besides Fallow."
Her attention focused on the space where the portal had been, the fear that was indicated by his words. "I know Darkness Fantasies always struggle with their emotions..." She trailed off into silent expectancy, waiting for him to tell her something before she reacted.
---------
"Don't apologize, it's okay. I'm happy to support you," Marshall reassured. Robin walked over with two cups of tea and set them on the coffee table in front of them, taking a seat on the armchair of the sofa they were sitting on.
"We're all worried, Viola. But to be completely honest, we've had a terrible amount of mishaps just like this before and they've all turned out fine. Everything will be okay," Robin said.
---------------
The circle of grass around her withered into grayness but Mavis hardly seemed to notice. Her powers had seemed to grow out of control, even more so now that she was in front of Xena, but she didn't make any effort to suppress it. "I don't remember much of anything," she admitted, stepping closer to Xena to observe her. "I wasn't aware that my Darkness had an origin, either. What's your name?"

"Oh, yes, it's quite nice. Especially with the two-person advantage--did you know that some people get roommates just to have a bigger room? I don't think it's quite worth it myself, but," Anne shrugged. "I think that even the smallest rooms are quite cozy. The rebellion is truly nice to us, it really is a shame that we've had so many mishaps just in the past month."

Knowing that she was in mental pain made Wither even more worried. She only nodded at Kurai and sat, silently, looking at Magnolia's sleeping body with such a mix of emotions that it was hard to pinpoint what she was feeling. "How long has she been out?" She finally asked, softly, facing Kurai briefly before she looked over at Lucius to check what he was doing.

"Oh. You just... seem like a new couple. With all the fluster and whatnot," she commented, speaking her mind. "How's the rebellion treating you? I know it's... a bit of a rough life for some."
------
Wither sat on the bed next to Kurai, looking down with worry. Void settled next to her feet. "Has she said anything?" She mumbled softly, her eyebrows knitted with worry.

"I--uh. Okay," Crysia stammered, not having enough time to object. She looked over at Percy and awkwardly waved, not knowing how to feel now that she was stuck with the child. She had been planning to go back to everyone else, anyways, to avoid suspicion. Celestial seemed happy to stay, ruffling her feathers and glimmering with constellations to entertain the child.

The twins' eyes went wide at the sight of the water--they knew exactly what it was, and in that moment the stranger became much more of a threat to them than the tree had been. The flash of light, even more so. The shadows of the tree writhed before constricting itself into nonexistence and Reign immediately leaped forward to pin the stranger against it, holding the tip of his blade at their throat.
Reign, you idiot, Rain thought, leaping forth to remove the backpack and making a move to take off the hood. His hand was stopped by Crimson, who shocked him in such a way that he froze.
"I cannot see his face," Crimson hissed, knowing that doing so would alert the Queen.

Evie flinched back in surprise, angry that she hadn't noticed Dexter approach. She had been completely ready to threaten Oliver with mutilation and the fact that she now had to swallow her anger so quickly almost disappointed her.
Orion immediately stepped back and raised his weapon, to which Evie put her hand on the nozzle. "No," was her only explanation; Koji stopped growling and Orion accepted it as a viable answer.

"Hi, Dexter. This is Orion. He's a friend of mine," she said bluntly, looking at Oliver's body on the ground. She heavily considered leaving him for a long moment, but she did firmly believe that an ally with guns would be a valuable one; Oliver was a Lux and, although she hated herself for having a bias for such thing, they had started to develop a bond that she was trying her absolute best to ignore.
"Was... a knockout really necessary here? I mean, he's an absolute a--hole, but it'll be a bit of a hassle to carry back." The more Evie thought about how Oliver acted towards Orion, the more she wanted to leave him behind in the dust.
Especially Koji... she thought, saltily, 'Abomination'? Koji is cute as hell.
"Well, nice to meet you," Orion said, smiling at him. "This is Koji." The creature cooed and stood on its hind legs as a greeting.

Jack's eyes widened as he watched Crystal sprint by, to which he immediately got up on his feet and scurried out the alleyway. The guards didn't pay a second thought to him. He already knew that it was useless to go directly to the guards; together, they would be lucky to even apprehend one of them.
God, they're going to jail us... we don't even have IDs, he thought, knowing that they would be facing death when they were caught. He watched Crystal fall to the ground in the distance and anger seared through his chest. Jack, not having enough time to think comprehensively, slipped his knife out from his boot and slipped next to the nearest innocent to the guard.
He clenched his teeth and dug it into the stranger's flank--collateral damage, as he knew, was a wonderous distraction. A guttural scream rose all noise of the crowd and the two guards looked in their direction immediately; Jack was already bolting towards Crystal. He messily shoved his knife into his satchel as he ran, stopping only to kneel down by Crystal and pull her up by the underarms.
"Get up, run!" He hissed, knowing that they had a chance to lose the guards in the crowd. He glanced back as he was lifting her and saw that the shorter guard had stopped to interrogate the woman, the taller one still scanning the crowd to spot them. Jack grabbed Crystal's hand and sprinted left towards the marketplace, hoping that the crowd would cover them.

Dawn blinked in surprise, but her facial expression grew solemn as she silently watched him go off. Jasper hadn't stopped his conversation with Fallow but it was apparent that he had been listening. He had no further reaction.
"Is he gonna confess his undying love to you?" Fallow asked softly, the first time she had shown any sense of playfulness since arriving.
"Shut up," Dawn replied teasingly, masking the worry that danced about in her mind.
"I'm not ready to be an aunt, Dawnie."
"Oh my god please stop talking--"
"If you take too long I might have to come out there, for your best interest, y'know?"
Dawn rose to her feet and ruffled Fallow's hair, walking briskly out of the room and towards the treeline before any further comments could be made. Seeing Fallow's smile, though, was refreshing; she had remembered it exactly, innocence and all.

Skye came in through the back door, her eyes clearly tired, and Marshall's head craned up from over Viola and met her gaze expectantly. Skye shook her head and took a seat by the kitchen counter, knowing that she was terrible at comforting and deciding it was better if she was away from Viola. Robin came in soon after and, upon seeing Viola's state, slipped into the kitchen to boil some water to make into tea for her.
"Have you... seen Venom?" He asked Skye softly.
"Have you seen Maxwell?" She hissed back, glaring. He narrowed his eyes at her, "Venom could've easily found Maxwell. I'm worried that it's a matter of distance, or... actual danger."
-------------
Mavis navigated through the forest, the blaring of the cicadas and occasional leaf rustles the only noise in the dead of the night. She had spent most of her days slinking through the darkness of the forests, anyways; this was all but familiar, if not comforting to her. Darkness subconsciously gathered around her hands as she felt a presence, growing stronger as she grew closer. It certainly wasn't Maxwell, but she was drawn to it in a way that was difficult to describe.
"Who are you?" she asked the panther that she had stumbled upon, all color from her eyes completely shrouded with black.

[*ambigous time skip here! is it about a week i dont know ima just roll with it*]
Allium sat criss-cross on Matthew's bed, where she had been casually talking to him for the past hour, before sighing and casting her gaze to the bookshelf.
"You figure Crystal's ever gonna... warm up to me? I mean, I know it hasn't been too long, but there's just this hostile air between her and everyone else that I don't know what to do about. It seems like the only person she actually... is actively nice to is Wisty." She pursed her lips and pushed all her hair over to one shoulder.
-------
Wisty clenched her teeth as she opened the door to Adriane's house, closing it behind her and leaning against it as she took off her shoes. Her anger was still lingering from talking to her parents and felt a block rise in her throat as she slipped her shoes off; she took a deep breath in to suppress her want to cry.
"O-oh, hello, Adeline. And I don't believe I've met you before?" She mustered a smile at the white-haired stranger on the couch. "I'm Wisteria--you can call me Wisty, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Anne looked over at Konani, his blush apparent, and cocked her head with interest. "How long have you two been together?" She asked, expecting him to confirm her theory that they were a relatively new couple. She rested her hands behind her back and let her legs dangle off of the edge of the table, swinging them slightly.
-------
Void and Wither conversed softly as they trailed behind Lucius; neither of them trusted him quite yet, but Wither tried her best to look through it with Magnolia's best interest. "You're quite the busy demon, Wither," Void commented, to which Wither smiled.
"It's not always... quite like this, I promise. It'll be more chill tomorrow, and you can always just cocoon in my room in the future if you want to." She looked down at him and thought about her words, realizing how quickly she had just accepted Void into her life. It had been a day--an eventful one, at that--and she hardly knew anything about his past.
Lucius stopped and Wither's mind went back to Magnolia, waiting for him to open the door.

The rays of sunlight directing straight at Jack's face was what caused him to stir into consciousness, his eyelids fluttering open only to be followed with instant regret. His face scrunched up and he pushed himself into a sitting position, rustling the newspapers that he was lying on. "Hey, Crystal," he mumbled, mostly just to check if she was awake. His limbs felt weak and his stomach ached with hunger--he couldn't remember the last time they had eaten, but they were ever so close to the border of the city by now. After running out of spare change they had ceased using the Skyway in favor of navigating on foot but, to Jack, the past week had been a bit of a blur. I'll just have to grab something off some street food stand, he thought, knowing that they were busier and easier to steal from during rush hour.

Anne blinked and rubbed the back of her neck, now sitting criss-cross on the nearest clean tabletop she could find. "Wither gave us the responsibility of protecting the airship... I'm sure it's fine if you two go, but at least one of us needs to carry through." She smiled and flicked her hand in a shooing motion.
----------
"Open with that next time," Void hissed, his tail flicking sternly in a similar manner. Wither simply clenched her teeth tightly and nodded, her hostility dying down. Void opened his mouth to say something about needing to do the paperwork and Wither lightly nudged him with her foot to shut him up, prioritizing Magnolia without a second thought.

Fallow flinched when he called Jasper "griffin boy", still perplexed on how quickly he was able to change his features. Justin, she had decided by now, was someone she would generally try to stay away from--there was far too much manipulation and confusion going on, and what he had said about Umbra...
"O-okay. Thank you." She stumbled on her words, but she meant them. That means he has morals at least...? she thought, rubbing her knuckles.

Silver looked at him blankly. She wasn't sure how to respond; Mango didn't seem to be getting the weight of the situation, and she was now reconsidering her actions--involving him further would maybe mean worse for both of them. It's better if we're seen apart as much as possible, she thought, knowing that no action would be taken until they realized she was missing.
"Just... go, I'll meet you at my place and pay you back there," she stammered, slipping her hand away and quickly walking off.

"Oh, be nice," Jasper scolded lightly when Justin sighed. "There's no need to be so angsty towards her."
Fallow, who was quite confused by now on who she should trust, timidly nodded and said through clenched teeth, "It's alright." She seemed to be unable to pull her attention away from Justin's eyes--she had recognized them as an indicator for the person. Umbra seemed... kinda nice, she thought, which somehow made him even more intimidating to her.

"Ooh, a fighter," Anne remarked softly, tapping her chin with interest. "I sort of assumed you were a strategist for some reason. You have that..." She waved her hand in circles at Alexander, "sorta intellectual, deep-in-thought vibe that they all seem to have." She smiled at him and folded up the list neatly.
---------
Wither narrowed her eyes and Void pressed against her, his lip curled back to reveal a sharp-toothed snarl. The demon was less visibly revealing with her emotions; she held her parasol in front of her and her tone seemed to be calmer, but cold. "I'm afraid my personal life has nothing to your concern, stranger," she replied, tapping the points of her long fingernails on the parasol's handle.
"Allow me to repeat myself: you are completely safe in the camp," she raised an eyebrow, "but if you hold any hostility towards Ms. Toxin that won't be the case, by my own authority." The underlying tone of threat began to seep through to her voice and her gaze grew darker by the moment.

"I--" Fallow began, but she was unable to finish the sentence in pure shock. Her fear, by now, had surfaced; she shrunk back in her chair and simply stared at him. After recognizing that it was Justin speaking, she clenched her teeth and asked, "Are you... a Fantasy?"

Silver flinched and twisted around, her eyes wide with fear. She grabbed his wrist tightly and yanked him down, putting a firm finger to his lips. "Shh--Mango," she hissed carefully, her voice wavering, "there are eyes everywhere. You can't speak so loudly. Come to my apartment with me. We can discuss this there." She slipped her hand firmly in his, making sure that she had some sort of control of him as she walked quickly to her house. She skimmed the area and, much to her absolute despair, spotted a coworker patrolling only meters away. There's no way he didn't hear, she thought, her heart weighing down her chest.
