"Hey, where ya heading?" One of her siblings called out to Calliope as she slipped out of the cabin's doorway.

She let her her bright green eyes flicker towards the sibling. Wasn't her name Hanna? "Somewhere," was the cryptic reply as she took off running.

The logical part of her brain was screaming at her to stop, while the other half was urging her to continue. She needed to see Kane. He was one of the few calming presences since the attacks, and honestly, blood was sometimes thicker than water.

Okay, so. Tactics. Callie glanced up at the sky, easily gauging the time by the sun's current position. Sunset, hm? Auspicious time for a message. Pressing a finger to the silver diamond pendant on her necklace, she let her consciousness drift from the top layer of reality, delving through the Mist, or in Egyptian terms, the Duat.

The thing about being a daughter of the goddess who had a lot of power in this domain - she didn't need to appear as a chicken-headed ghost like her poor brother Kane. One moment later, she was standing in her incorporeal form, flickering into existence in front of her brother - Kane Eversley. Who was in the middle of a meeting in the 21st Nome.

Several other magicians yelped in surprise as the green-eyed demigod sheepishly smiled. "Hope I'm not interrupting anything?" She asked hopefully.

Kane shook his head as his colleagues stared warily at his sister. "Nope. And contacting me is dangerous, you know? Are you getting yourself in trouble again?" He replied in a partially teasing manner.

"You know me," Ba Callie waved her hand nonchalantly. "Mind if I crash there tomorrow? I'm on the case. Chiron doesn't seem to know anything about all this mayhem. And that's saying something."

"Kane, we can't associate with the enemy," One of his colleagues protested out loud.

Kane barely spared him a glance. "She's not the enemy. She's my sister. She's saved my life and yours about a million times and I owe her for that," He replied tersely, fingering the emerald pendant on his own necklace.

Callie let her eyes scan the table of magicians. Some averted their eyes, while some stared back boldly, as if daring her to try something. Something caught her eye.

"Where's Sadie and Carter?" Callie's brow furrowed, staring at the two empty seats.

Kane bit his lip hesitantly before answering. "Top secret mission. They left me in charge."

"Understood. Oh, do me a favor and cook bacon," Callie nodded as she drew back from the Duat slowly, returning to her real body.

Her eyes shooting open, she glanced around, noting that there was no one around - they all were most likely heading for dinner. Easily launching into a carefree sprint, she headed towards the forest.

Nome: 21st Nome, Brooklyn, New York

Path of the Gods, or not?: Still deciding between Thoth and Shu.

^I feel like I'm being bossy, but yeah, I suggest including in Nomes if they have them, Paths, once again if they have them, and magical items :3]

The sound of metal against metal clashing echoed throughout the arena as two demigods danced a metallic dance, daggers against sword, neither seemingly able to touch the other. Then the larger one faltered for a split second, and her opponent struck as agile and cunning as a snake, the tip of her dagger drawing blood through a chink of armor.

A few onlookers let out a cry of surprise as the tides turned and the larger girl went down in a flash, her sword suddenly several feet away from her and a wickedly sharp dagger pressing against her Adam's apple. Silence befell the entire room as Clarisse LaRue spluttered in surprise as she realized she'd been outwitted.

Her opponent flashed a knowing smile, her foot casually crushing Clarisse's wrist to disable any attempt of movement. She seemed to be suppressing a snarky remark out of respect of the older girl.

"Good game, Callie," Clarisse finally managed, her face flushing in embarrassment, though her tone held a note of grudging respect.

Calliope, more known as Callie, smiled widely as she stepped backwards and slipping her daggers back into her sleeves, still eyeing her opponent warily. Clarisse, however, knew better than to try anything sneaky, instead just picking herself up from the floor and sheathing her own weapon.

"Great duel as always, you two!" Someone called out from the audience, but was mostly ignored by the two girls.

"Same time, tomorrow?" Clarisse questioned as both of them exited the arena.

Calliope shook her head grimly. "I've got stuff to do. Day after tomorrow?"

"Game," The Ares demigod nodded curtly as they parted ways, heading for their respective cabins.

As Callie stalked off to her cabin, she let her thoughts wander to how dangerous it was to be even attempting what she was thinking. With all the tension between the camps, it was kind of stupid and definitely fatal. Still though...she needed to see her brother.

[Hey, mind if I make an Egyptian?]

Name: Calliope Blitz
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Godly Parent: Hecate
Show hidden content
Legacy of Persephone and Athena, gg. Future champion of Hades.

Appearance:

Just copying this from my old PJO RP. Couldn't decide between the three, so yeah. Calliope has the typical black hair (that I give most of my OCs), and unusually bright green eyes. Her fingers are long and slender like a pianist's, and she has a rather skinny frame. Her long black hair is usually let down or tied up in a ponytail. Calliope doesn't care much for her clothes, and usually just throws on a random colored blouse and some worn out jeans, finishing off the look with sneakers. A long pale scar runs from her kneecap to her ankle, which is usually hidden by her jeans. The scar had come from a hellhound that she and the satyr had encountered on the way to camp. The scar was also a symbol of the fact that she knew what she exactly was. Callie sometimes wears glasses because her eyesight isn't perfect, but she often exchanges them for colorless contact lenses.

Equipment: Two wickedly sharp daggers that are about twelve inches in length. She somehow manages to hide these two in the long sleeves of her shirt without accidentally stabbing herself. Of course, she also uses magic, but tries to keep it at the minimum as another secret is another advantage against the enemy.

Calliope herself IS a weapon. She knows basic martial arts, and has learned the special Judo-Flip-An-Annoying-Boy from Annabeth. She used to attend karate and taekwondo lessons at the local sports center, and her father taught her various other fighting styles. She doesn't rely it on much, but when she does go kung-fu panda, it's often because she's angry.

She also has some armor used for Capture The Flag, so yeah :3

Camp: Camp Half-Blood

History: Calliope was born and raised in Sacramento, California, by her single mortal father. She was nine years old when an empousa disguised as her substitute teacher tried to kill her, deeming her more powerful than most children of Hecate. Much to the empousa's surprise, Calliope easily defended herself, having a green belt in both karate and taekwondo at the time. She fended off the blood-sucking monster until her father noticed that she was not home yet at sunset. He quickly guessed what was happening, and arrived just as Calliope was about to be overwhelmed. He tossed his daughter one of the knives that she would later use as her weapons, and she killed the empousa before it could put a spell on her father. They went home as Calliope's father explained what the empousa was and who her mother was. Calliope took the news in a calm manner, but was rather upset when she found out she had to leave her dad behind for Camp Half-Blood. A satyr arrived shortly after to escort Calliope to camp.

Calliope had a difficult journey to get to the camp. For some reason, monsters frequently attacked them. Calliope soon found the answer to these frequent attacks, but kept it to herself in fear of how others would react. Calliope excelled in camp activities, and due to her mixed martial arts training along with her magic and knives, she made a much more formidable opponent that her other siblings, who mostly depended on magic. She only participates in Capture The Flag when Hecate cabin is allied with Athena, refusing to fight the AOE.

Callie somehow gets along with Nico Di Angelo, despite them being polar opposites. She is rather close to most of the AOE, but shies away from anyone else besides her siblings. Callie has never been chosen for a quest, nor has she ever volunteered for one because of certain...reasons.

Other: Was cursed by Circe when she was a baby. (Yeah...more on this later, lol.)

I'm just listing down what she's capable of. This doesn't mean she's got everything at the whole time.

bilities:
➽ Mystiokinesis (Hecate)
➽ Mist Control (Hecate)
➽ Prophecy (Limited) (Hecate)
➽ Geokinesis (Later On) (Somewhat Limited, Persephone)
➽ Chlorokinesis (Later On) (Somewhat Limited, Persephone)
➽ Umbrakinesis (Later On, Somewhat Limited) (Hades)
➽ Necromancy (Later On, Extremely Limited) (Hades)
➽ Fighting Skills (Athena)
➽ Divine Wisdom (Athena)
➽ Strategy and Battle Skill (Athena)
➽ Power Over Certain Domains [Crossroads, battle fields, and nature places. Hecate, Athena, and Persephone respectively. All three are somewhat limited.]

[By the way, PLEASE tell me godmodding isn't allowed.]

[Edit, sorry forgot to add that LATER ON she will become a champion of Hades. Sorry.]

As she shared the results of her day at the dinner table, Matilda watched cautiously for her parents' reactions. They didn't seem too miffed about her getting detention, but she did hate to disappoint them. They continued the rest of dinner with a lighter air, her father telling jokes and her mother making jabs at them.

A knock at the door cut through the middle of one of Jake's puns and the entire family froze. Mattie felt the hairs at the back of her head tingle ever so slightly. Who'd call at this hour? Glancing back at her parents, she caught them exchanging wary glances.

"I'll get it, Liza," Her father muttered tensely, making to get up from his chair.

Liza was standing in a flash, her hand curled around her husband's arm tightly. "I'm coming with you, Jake. No one ever calls at this hour," She said firmly.

Matilda watched the strange scene with interest, feeling her hands warm up in anticipation and fear. Jake looked like he was going to protest, but sighed in defeat at the last moment. "In that case, we'll have to take along Mattie," He pointed out, but pulling his wife along nevertheless.

With an imploring look from her mother, Matilda obliged to stand up and follow her parents to the front door, which her father opened. A friendly-looking portly middle-aged man stood there, a toothy smile forever plastered to his face. "Hello, I'm looking for a Jake Frazer?"

Jake scowled at him, his wife's grip tightening on his arm. "That would be me," He tersely replied.

It was astonishing to find out how a friendly smile could turn sinister in a matter of seconds. "We've been looking for you," The man hissed in an almost garbled accent.

Two much larger shadows loomed from behind him, and Liza slammed the door in his face, letting go of her husband's arm. She grabbed Mattie's arm, tugging at it so hard that Mattie felt like she was trying to pull her arm off. "Run!" she yelled, her feet already on it as the door was kicked down.

Matilda found her feet obeying, managing to glance back and watch her father seemed to be gathering smoke around his body, finally hurling a stream of it towards the three inhumanly tall men in the doorway. The oddities were forced to their knees, and Jake was already running beside his wife and daughter when they came to their senses.

As her mother drew back her slender arm, light molecules swirling around it as she fired them off in the form of glowing bullets towards the attackers, Matilda felt even more stunned. She'd lived with them for almost six years, yet she'd never knew they were like her.

They abruptly halted by the stairs, Jake lifting his own arms, letting the fire join with its origin. Mattie could do nothing but watch as the three oddities stumbled closer, seemingly resistant from their attacks. Liza briefly glanced at her terrified daughter, her brown eyes softening. "Mattie, love, be a dear and call the police," She requested, serenely as ever with a placating smile.

Nodding slowly, Matilda reached for the nearby telephone, dialing the police station, her numb fingers fumbling to find the right combination. The phone was picked up, and there was a "hello?" from the other end.

Matilda suddenly realized her mouth was dry, and her hands were trembling. "Please. We're being attacked on 112 Rowna Avenue, the white house in the middle. M-my parents are holding off the attackers," She almost whispered, her breathing shaky.

The reply was suddenly more alert, assuring her that they'd be there ASAP. Mattie heard nothing but the ringing in her ears. Her blood pumped through her body even louder, adrenaline rushing through her veins, sharpening her senses. The phone dropped to the floor with a dull thump, Mattie's eyes fixed steadily at the supernatural capabilities her parents now showed. Liza had stopped and turned to her daughter, shaking her shoulders with those glowing arms...those...bright arms...

"...not safe with us," Liza's words suddenly came through. "Mattie, head to the basement."

"You never let me go to the basement," Matilda managed, her tone even somewhat incredulous.

Liza's brown eyes were serious now, the corner of her mouth turning down. "You have permission now. There's a trunk there, Mattie. Open it, you should find that the bomb in there will explode within less than ten minutes. Should be enough time to get you out. Also, your birthday present. Get to your room, pack what you need, and run from this house. Run until you can't see it burning."

It took her several moments to process what Liza meant. "Mum-"

Liza shut her eyes, tears beginning to trickle down her rosy cheeks. She forced herself to push Mattie towards the direction of the basement. "Your father and I are special, Matilda," She said, her voice cracking. Matilda knew she was serious when she called her by her full name. "But you are even more so. You and the rest of the heroes out there may be the only things standing in the Web's way. I knew that the day I stepped into the orphanage's nonexistent garden."

And suddenly...memories. Memories flashing through Matilda's brain. Things clicked, and she found herself choking back a sob as she realized...what these two strange adults had done for poor little her. Because these two weren't her foster parents. No, they were so much more. Resistance was futile. "I love you guys," Matilda sobbed out. "My parents. Real ones. Not foster."

Liza took a step back, and Matilda fled. She barely noticed her feet flying down the basement's stairs, her hands shoving the trunk open with one hot touch of the lock. Her hands, carrying the precious large parcel. She didn't stop to glance at her parents when she headed for her room. If she did, she'd realize they were now fighting hand-to-hand with the attackers. Her room now. Her small suitcase, filling up with clothes, shoes, the books she needed.....and the last gifts her parents ever gave her. She shoved the two parcels in, locked the suitcase tight, and grabbed her coat. How long had it been? Five minutes?

There was no room for hesitation when she tugged her suitcase to her balcony and jumped. The suitcase cushioning her fall, she didn't pause to moan about how her back hurt. She jumped to her feet, dragging the suitcase with her, not looking back. Seven minutes passed, and Matilda was four blocks away, adrenaline pushing her. That was when the house exploded.

Mattie heard the explosion from so far away, and she paused to let a tear fall.

"Goodbye," Mattie thought, her grip loosening on the suitcase.

Yikes, this should be fun o-o Well, um, I'd like to help out since I'll be available until at least until the start of February. Time varies, because on Saturdays it's like 13-15 and weekdays approximately 0-6. On Sunday, I may be not online for the whole day, or the other way around.

School is an annoying wasp that is necessary to continue the life cycle, unfortunately.

Character Name~ {-} Matilda Psyche Haywire
Age~ {-} 16
Gender~ {-} Female
Species~ {-} Human
Abilities~ {-} Mystiokinesis. Pretty much reality warping. Here, I'm too lazy to explain.

She's also a telepath. She isn't too experienced with this at first, however she quickly masters it, tending to mix it with her reality warping, creating a dangerous combo.

Another power she later develops due to her telepathic powers is Clairvoyance, which branches into Premonition. Weirdly enough, Premonition, despite being a branch-off, is the first power she masters. (Yay...I'm making this op....again...dammit, Mattie, why do you have to sound so fricking OP?!)

Mattie has extreme difficulties with reality warping due to a certain accident from when she was a child, causing her to accidentally harm herself whenever she overuses it. However, she soon finds out about her telepathic powers, and almost completely relinquishes use of her reality warping. She easily develops Clairvoyance and Premonition, easily mastering Premonition. She is, hands down, more comfortable with her psychic powers than reality warping, and tends to use the former more.

Note that the linked pages are just examples of what she can do. She can't do ALL of the listed abilities. Nope nope nope, just a select few 030

Personality~ {-} Quick to anger, with a quiet demeanor. You really don't want to aggravate her.
Appearance~ {-} [I'm extremely lazy right now, and luckily since she's one of the two OCs I repeatedly use, here just quoting it.]

Quote from Omnia
With eccentric electric blue hair and stormy blue eyes, Matilda definitely stands out. Her long hair is usually kept in check with a blinding white headband, and it is occasionally set in a ponytail. Her stormy orbs switch to a menacing purple when using her powers.

Matilda is often seen wearing worn out blue jeans and a black ruffled lace blouse, topping it with a silver cardigan. She either is seen with glossy black combat boots studded with silver diamonds or comfy black sneakers with white shoelaces.

Slightly shorter than most girls her age, Matilda tends to get underestimated due to her height. Many a bully has tried to pick on her, laughing at her thin and frail-looking frame. Her skin is a sickly pale color, caused by rarely being out in the sun. The lack of color in her skin contrasts greatly with her eye and hair color. Despite all this, Matilda exudes a mysterious strength that makes people think twice before messing with her. She moves with an easy grace that is unnerving for someone who always looks like she's sick.

History~ {-} You ain't gonna know just yet! ;o
Dimension~ {-} Beta
Mutations/Transformations~ {-} None.
Other~ {-} DO YOU KNOW WHAT CAT IS BAE?!

ϟ Prologue ϟ

Deep within a supposedly nonexistent oasis in the midst of a forsaken desert, an outlandish assortment of buildings stood against the unforgiving desert winds.

If one was there to witness the brief moments when the winds paused to take a breath, they would notice how the air shimmered like the broken fragments of a kaleidoscope, the light halting when the winds started up again mercilessly.

But there was no one to see. And so the buildings were left alone.

As if that wasn't enough evidence that the buildings were clearly NOT abandoned like its surroundings, it seemed that their glittering silver walls never faltered to show off, shining beams of light day and night. The forces of nature did what they could to topple these alien structures - structures that could only be found usually in the cities of the unkind humans. Yet the buildings stayed in tip-top shape, looking like a beacon of two-faced darkness to the desert dwellers. The cynical fauna kept their distance, cursing it from afar as they scuttled to and fro the oasis.

The buildings were undoubtedly manmade. And though the locals scoured the surrounding area for any sign of a human, they turned up nothing. Frustrated and anxious, everyday they would perform a meticulous, and somewhat useless search. Their instincts were screaming "INTRUDER!", yet reality seemed to defy this.

Their instincts were right.

The desert dwellers were intimidated by the presence of the alien structures so much that they would not enter them. Unsurprisingly, the answer lay within the cold, chrome walls of the laboratory, for that was what it was. A crimson color carpeted the similar silver floor, discouraging anyone to look at the room for too long due to the bright light reflected. But this was not the end of the secrecy.

In the deepest part of the lab, within a vast vault (yep, still silver) shut away from the rest of the world by a variety of high-tech locks guaranteed to be unbreakable, was a bed.

It was a perfectly normal bed, with a pillow and sheets. Unlike the rest of the interior, the bed was pure white. The sheets shifted slightly, and abruptly, its owner was revealed.

Her eyelids blinked open, revealing silver orbs that were the exact same color of the room. Her hair was a fine sheet of a blonde so white, it shimmered when the light hit it. Her face was void of all emotion, her lips pressed together so tightly it appeared as a white line.

Her slender fingers, which any pianist would envy, drummed lightly against the white sheets, in a practiced method that sounded like a cricket's call.

Then the walls and the floor flickered, becoming transparent. The air seemed to buzz with an energy that wasn't there - the sound of thousands of people walking. The bed appeared to be floating in midair as the girl sat there motionless, only her fingers seemingly able of movement.

My name is 02431. I am a project of SterTech Corp., founded in year 2785.

And I am most definitely not your ordinary human.

Author's Note:
This story is an original, by me, and if I find any part of it copied and put on another website other than PokeHeroes (rest assured I WILL find out), I am having a "serious talk" with you. I mean it.

Anyway, all subtle death threats aside, I've been pushing this story 'round in my head for a couple of years now, and have decided I ought to put it down in paper just now. Or on the internet. Whatever.

From the title, you can easily gather that it involves dangerous experiments, illegal doings, and overall advanced technology that the humans of today haven't even remotely touched. (Love you guys <3) But I do hope my amateur-ish writing has improved somewhat the past few years, and that I can actually make this unique and better than most typical stories that revolve around technology and the "evolution" of the human race.

Also, I REALLY want to finish a decent sized story around 20 chapters long without long hiatuses in between.

If you have any comments regarding this story, preferably constructive criticism, please PalPad or PM me.

Do not post here, thanks.

I'll edit in a list of characters after some of them are introduced, and will continue to list them down one by one as they are introduced in the story.

Callisto's head snapped up instinctively at the first words, her hand moving towards her pocket, where her wand was. One of the few things she had been taught and she had remembered: When you're hearing voices, trouble starts to brew.

Ever since her little accident, Callisto had had her fair share of hearing nonexistent people. She'd looked it up, and it was apparently something about her spirit connecting more firmly to the astral plane, or whatever. She wasn't too miffed about it.

She visibly relaxed as she recognized the headmaster's voice, her hand stopping in its tracks as the headmaster finished speaking.

"Greetings, students of Hogwarts... I now announce that all newspapers besides those from the Muggles are banned from this school, including such as the Daily Prophet, Witch Weekly, or any wizarding news in the matter. This is for the safety of students. All newspapers in the future will be confiscated."

"You have GOT to be kidding me," She exclaimed out loud, leaping from the armchair and startling the other Gryffindors, who until this point had not noticed her.

"Are you a ninja?" A nearby (and naive) fourth year brunette girl peered at her curiously.

Callisto's now molten gold eyes flickered towards her blue orbs, and the girl let out a terrified squeak as she quickly left the first year's company. Sighing, Callisto knowingly checked her hair. Yep, it was red again.

She shook her head, focusing on the announcement as she grabbed her bag, heading for lunch. Her mind was awhirl and her emotional level was reaching over 9000. Why the newspapers? What could they be possibly hiding from the students?

As she reached the last staircase, Callisto's jaw was unmistakably set. She had to get down to this. Her thoughts momentarily strayed towards her collection of newspapers, deep in a secret compartment in her trunk, but quickly forced herself to forget it as she passed a professor. The professor glanced at her once before moving on, and Callisto let out a sigh of relief.

The time for her to learn Occlumency was nigh.

Then her stomach grumbled, and Callisto was abruptly brought back to reality from her rebellious thoughts.

By all means, the time to eat lunch was also nigh.

[Casually taking down a stereotype and doing a pun in one post. I think that's good enough.]
