A Kami of luck and foxes fair Entered Mastix's realm of despair And learned of spirits' endless plight Cast down from Elysium's bright light Their only hope and deepest need To Elysium's gates they long to proceed From Mastix's ashes, they yearn to rise To the place they deem paradise Backstory: "A Guide to Ōmagatoki" (Basic Overview): ![]() "Welcome to Ōmagatoki, a variant of the classic party game Mafia! In this roleplay, each player will be secretly assigned a role aligned with either the Humans or Yōkai. The Yōkai characters meet together every night while masquerading as ordinary humans throughout the day, while the actual Human characters must get together to eliminate the Yōkai before they are outnumbered and killed. The game alternates between two stages: night and day. During the night, the Yōkai-aligned members discreetly conspire among themselves to kill a Human character while devising a strategy for the day. During the day, the entire cast of surviving players debate who among them is aligned with the Yōkai and vote to kill someone (or no one). The game will continue to alternate between these two phases until either all of the Yōkai characters are eliminated (the Human characters win), or the number of remaining Yōkai members is greater than or equal to the number of remaining Humans members (the Yōkai characters win)." "The Roles": Once all the character slots are filled, you (or rather, your character) will be assigned a Role from the list below in a private message. Revealing your character's role is strictly forbidden anywhere outside the game, but lying about your role is permitted, however. ![]() The Civilians are regular humans. They have no special abilites. The Rokurokubi despite being a yōkai, is friendly towards humans and poses no threat. They see themselves as a Civilian, but investigations see them as Yōkai-aligned. Upon their death, they will be revealed as the Nukekubi. The Alien is an otherworldly entity disguising themselves as a human They see themselves as a Civilian. If an investigation is performed on them, their investigator(s) will learn their role as Alien. The Pacifist is a believer in unjustifiable violence. They, once per game, may choose to save a condemned character after the vote (a post-vote action). If an save attempt is made on a Yōkai-aligned role, both the Pacifist and said role will die. The Oracle is a person blessed with divine knowledge. They may choose to scry a character each night. Upon their death, they will reveal the role of the character they last scryed to everyone. The Miko is a person trained in the sacred arts of divination. They may divine a character's alignment each night. (Reports show as Aligned/NOT aligned with the Yōkai) The Komainu is a guardian spirit disguised in the form of a human. They may protect a character from any kills each night. The Ashura is a powerful war demon with an unquenchable desire for destruction. They possess immense fighting prowess, and may kill another character once per game. However, their massive ego means that their identity will be revealed to all characters the next day once their kill is performed. They attend the Yōkai Night Meeting. The Futakuchi-onna is a humanlike yōkai with a second grotesque, ravenous mouth on the back of their head. They, once per game, may choose to visit the Yōkai Night Kill's target and hide their role to everyone but themselves. They attend the Yōkai Night Meeting. The Hinoenma is an alluring yōkai that invokes human desires with their beauty. They, once per game, may choose to convert a Human-aligned into a Civilian. If they attempt to convert a character that already is a Civilian, it does nothing (the ability is still spent). They attend the Yōkai Night Meeting. The Ghost Author is the spirit of a deceased writer, seeking revenge against their killer. They cannot be killed by any means other than condemnation. They start with a Will that they may write in at any time. Upon their death or the end of the game, the contents of the Will will be shown to all living characters. On the first applicable day, they must also write down the names of two characters in their Will. The two characters written down on the Will will be protected from any kills during the next applicable night. The Ghost Author wins if both characters written down on their will are alive at the end of the game, preventing any other faction from winning. If only one of the two characters are alive, they will win with the winning faction. They cannot win if both characters are dead. The Karakasa-kozō is a mischievous umbrella youkai that enjoys playing pranks. They win when alive at the end of the game. However, if voted out, they will deliver a traumatic lick to their last voter and neutralize their role. (Turns a Human into a Civilian, a Yōkai into a Nukekubi, and a Third-party) into another Karakasa-kozō. Their power renews if they are saved by a Pacifist There will be a total of 14 roles. The full list is below. Civilians (3) Rokurokubi (1) Alien (1) Pacifist (1) Oracle (1) Miko (1) Komainu (1) Ashura (1) Hinoenma (1) Futakuchi-onna (1) Ghost Author (1) Karakasa-kozō (1) Landscape: ![]() MastixThe second layer of Otherworld, below Elysium. The flames of Hell have long since extinguished, leaving behind only the ashes of their former glory. Mastix is the second layer of the Otherworld, situated just below Elysium. Once ablaze with the flames of Hell, it is now a barren wasteland, where only the ashes of its former grandeur remain. Despite the desolate state of the land, there is an eerie beauty to be found in the way the ashes are scattered about, as if they were a somber reminder of the inferno that once raged there. It is a place of silence and solitude, where one can reflect on the impermanence of life, and the fragility of even the mightiest of flames. The PantheonumThe Pantheonum is a ruined marble pantheon, nestled amidst the barren landscape of Mastix. Once a grand temple dedicated to many minor deities of Mastix, it now lies in a state of desolation and decay. Covered in a thick layer of ash, it is a solemn reminder of the flames that once raged in this forsaken realm. The Pantheonum's walls, now cracked and crumbling, bear witness to the passage of time and the ravages of the elements. The once-beautiful architecture now stands as a testament to the transience of all things, and a haunting symbol of the hubris of those who thought that Mastix's flames would burn forever. An Abandoned VillageOnce a thriving community that was sustained by the flames of Mastix, it now lies in ruins, a testament to the unforgiving nature of the Otherworld. The village's buildings, once grand and imposing, now stand as eerie skeletons, their structures cracked and crumbling, and their walls blackened by the soot and ash that covers them. The streets, once bustling with life, are now empty and silent, the only sounds the faint echoes of a distant past. Amidst the ruins, there are traces of the lives that were once lived here. The remnants of books, furniture, and other belongings are scattered about, as if the villagers had fled in haste, leaving everything behind. The air is thick with the acrid scent of ash, a reminder of the flames that once sustained the village. It is a haunting place, where the shadows of the past loom large, and the passage of time is marked by the gradual erosion of the structures and the endless accumulation of ash. The ObeliscusAdorned with gold and dazzling gemstones, this towering structure stands as a beacon of hope and wonder in an otherwise forsaken landscape. Its surface is intricately carved with elaborate designs, each curve and line a symbol of the stories and legends that once inspired its creators. The obelisk is a dazzling sight to behold, especially in the light of the setting sun, when its surface comes alive with a brilliant display of colors and reflections. It stands tall and proud, defying the ravages of time and the harsh environment of Mastix. Yet amidst its splendor, there is also a sense of melancholy, a reminder of the fleeting nature of life and the inevitability of change. The Obeliscus is a solitary monument amidst the ruins of a once-great civilization, a symbol of the majesty of a bygone era that has been consigned to history. "The Rules": (not to be confused with the Roles) ![]() 1. Hate the characters, not the
roleplayers. Be respectful.
2. Each post must have a minimum of 3-4 sentences or 1-2 paragraphs written in Third-person perspective, unless a valid reason (i.e. asking for character interactions) is provided. 3. Cursing at a minimum. Alternatives are allowed. "[Gosh darn] it!" or "[Redacted] it!" are both acceptable. 4. I am the admin. The admin is necessary to the game. Respect my power. 5. Any back door detective work, i.e. separate Palpads and PMs, are not allowed. 6. If/when you die, do not reveal any information you have obtained from your role. I will personally reveal your character's role to everyone. You may spectate and interact with the characters as ghosts if you wish. 7. Ghosts may only interact with other ghosts, and cannot interact with alive characters. They (or their roleplayer) may not share any information obtained before their death either. 8. Any additional characters, such as characters that do not have a role and have no involvement in the strategic part of Ōmagatoki, must be cleared out with me first. 9. Respect the rules. 10. Misfortuna will enforce those rules for me because, as the past few rounds of Ōmagatoki show, I am completely incapable of doing so. Alice Beaumontt-DevereuxCurrent Location: The Elysian Plain. Travel eastward to the Acheron and Ekuto rivers.Alice Beaumontt-Devereux, clad in regal attire that shimmered with hints of darkness, stood at the edge of the ethereal Elysian plain. The Lost Souls, her loyal legion of shattered spirits, hovered nearby, their eyes filled with a mix of awe and trepidation. With a wave of her hand, the air crackled, and a gateway of swirling mist materialized before them. "My dear Lost Souls," Alice's voice echoed with an ethereal resonance, carrying a sense of both command and sorrow. "Behold the radiant expanse of Elysium, a realm of eternal beauty and tranquility. Here, we shall reclaim what truly belongs to not only me, but us, and forge our own kingdom." With a blast of magic, Alice shattered the nebulous veil that covered the Legion, revealing the breathtaking scenery beyond. Fields of vibrant flowers danced with every hue imaginable, their fragrances filling the air, while gentle rivers meandered through emerald meadows. The sun bathed the land in a soft, golden glow, casting enchanting shadows upon the landscape. "This is our new home, where you shall find solace and purpose," Alice continued, her voice filled with determination. "In Elysium, we shall weave our dreams into reality and reign among the heavens. But remember, the path to power is paved with challenges and sacrifices." The scent of blossoms and the distant melody of chirping birds (that may or may not be cursing at each other in the language of bird) beckoned them forward. "Follow me, my Legion of Lost Souls," Alice beckoned, her eyes gleaming with both ambition and a touch of melancholy. "Together, we shall reshape this land, weaving our illusions into the very fabric of Elysium. Let us stride across this resplendent terrain, reclaiming our destiny as the ones who shall reside in paradise." "We shall meet at our next stop, the idyllic little town of Arcadia situated between the Acheron and Ekuto rivers, and discuss our plans. But for now, I have other...godly matters to attend to. I bid you all adieu." And with a final glance at her devoted legion, Alice vanished from their view in a burst of prismatic radiance. ...But, what are those? Light spirits, it appears. This must be one of Alice's tests. How intriguing. Without pause, the light spirits charged at Lydia, Arachne, and the Mad Hatter in a daze of bright light. The Elysian Plain: ![]() A sprawling, lush landscape of rolling
hills, verdant forests, and colorful meadows, the Plain is the
birthplace of all Elysian deities and a true paradise. The air is
thick with the scent of blooming flowers and the sound of buzzing
insects. The fields are dotted with grazing animals, and clear
streams babble through the countryside. It is a place of
unparalleled beauty and abundance, where life flourishes in all its
forms.
Acheron and Ekuto: ![]() The Acheron and Ekuto rivers are the
natural borders that separate the Elysian Plain from the Iteruna
Mountain Ranges. The Acheron river is a wide and deep river with
murky waters that run slowly but steadily. It is fed by many small
streams and tributaries that flow down from the mountains, and it
winds its way through the valley, cutting a deep channel in the
earth.
The Ekuto river, on the other hand, is a much smaller river with a faster current. It runs parallel to the Acheron, and its waters are clear and sparkling. It is also fed by mountain streams and small tributaries, but its flow is more turbulent and erratic than the Acheron. Together, the Acheron and Ekuto rivers create a natural boundary that separates the lush and fertile Elysian Plain from the rugged and unforgiving terrain of the Iteruna Mountain Ranges. The rivers are flanked by dense forests, rocky cliffs, and steep mountainsides, providing a stark contrast between the two regions. Despite their differences, both rivers are revered by the local inhabitants for their natural beauty and the life-giving resources they provide. Arcadia: ![]() Flourishing between the Acheron and
Ekuto rivers lies Arcadia, a small town specializing in the lore of
herbs and botanical magic. This idyllic town is known for its
abundance of greenery and colorful gardens, where skilled botanists
and herbalists grow and cultivate rare plants for their potent
properties. The town is often shrouded in a misty veil, giving it a
mystical and enchanting atmosphere that draws visitors from far and
wide.
Despite its small size, Arcadia is a bustling hub of magical activity, where alchemists and apothecaries create potent potions and remedies for a variety of ailments. The locals are fiercely protective of their town's secrets and traditions, making it a difficult place to penetrate for outsiders. Anastasia BlackthorneCurrent Location: Inside the Cathedral of the Ghastly RoseAnastasia Blackthorne, the Necromancer of the Ghastly Rose, stood atop the grand dais of the Cathedral of the Ghastly Rose. The air was heavy with an otherworldly presence, as her loyal mercenary defense force, Le Monde Rouge, gathered before her. "Listen well, my devoted warriors of Le Monde Rouge," Anastasia's voice carried through the vast halls of the cathedral, commanding attention. "Alice Beaumontt-Devereux, the wayward, foolish weaver of illusions, seeks to invade our realm. But fear not, for we shall stand united and resolute in the face of her treachery." The jet black banners bearing the sigil of the Ghastly Rose fluttered ominously, casting shadows upon the assembled mercenaries. Anastasia continued, her voice resonating with both authority and a hint of underlying sadness, "In the coming days, we shall formulate strategies, strengthen our defenses, and train relentlessly. Our aim is to safeguard the Black Garden, our homeland and my realm, and ensure that Alice's ambitions meet with defeat." "Within the hallowed halls of our Great Library," Anastasia declared, her gaze sweeping across the vast expanse of the chamber, "you shall find knowledge to aid us in our endeavors. The priests and priestesses shall guide you, providing access to the vast tomes of strategic wisdom and arcane lore. Study diligently, for knowledge is power." Her gaze shifted towards the neophytes, young and eager initiates clad in black robes, who stood ready to assist. "The neophytes shall attend to your needs," Anastasia announced. "From nourishing meals to maintaining the cleanliness of our quarters, they shall ensure that you can focus on the task at hand." With a commanding gesture, Anastasia directed her mercenaries to begin their training, their weapons ringing in the cathedral's hallowed silence. "Remember," Anastasia's voice carried over the clang of steel, "we fight not only for our home, but for the balance of power in this realm. Together, we shall defend the honor of the Ghastly Rose and emerge victorious against the illusions that seek to ensnare us." In the sacred Cathedral of the Ghastly Rose, filled with the scent of incense and the murmur of whispered prayers, Le Monde Rouge prepared for their fateful confrontation. Bound by loyalty and strengthened by the blessings of their goddess, they were united in purpose and ready to face whatever darkness, or rather, whatever light awaited them. The Black Garden: ![]() The Black Garden is a city unlike any
other, ruled by the Necromancer of the Ghastly Rose herself,
Anastasia Blackthorne. Its massive black wall looms high above,
separating the city from the outside world and creating an air of
mystery and foreboding. Despite the turmoil that simmers beneath
the surface, the city bustles with life and activity.
Most of the city's inhabitants rarely venture beyond the walls of the Cult of the Ghastly Rose's cathedral, where they seek refuge from the chaos of the outside world. But for those brave enough to venture out, the city's black brick streets and stained glass buildings offer a unique beauty. Flowers of every kind adorn every corner, their colorful blooms a stark contrast to the city's dark exterior. The scent of sacred plants fills the air, a reminder of the power that Anastasia wields over both the living and the dead. Despite the beauty of the Black Garden, a sense of unease permeates the city. Whispers of the Necromancer's dark magic and hushed whispers of her plans echo through the streets. The Black Garden may be beautiful, but it is a city on the brink of destruction, ruled by a goddess who will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. The Cathedral of the Ghastly Rose: ![]() The Cathedral of the Ghastly Rose
stands tall and proud, its exterior made of jet black stones that
gleam in the sun. But as you step inside, the contrast between the
darkness outside and the colorful interior takes your breath away.
The walls are lined with intricate stained glass art depicting
scenes from the Cult's lore, and silk banners of every color adorn
the ceiling, making it look like a vibrant, living tapestry.
The Cult of the Ghastly Rose has a strict hierarchy, with neophytes being at the bottom of the order, and the goddess Anastasia Blackthorne herself at the very top. The priests and priestesses come next, followed by the initiates and then the acolytes. Each tier has its own set of rights and duties, with the neophytes being responsible for the most menial tasks such as cleaning and cooking. As one rises in the ranks, they gain access to more knowledge and privileges, but also more responsibilities and tasks that are expected to be fulfilled with utmost diligence. Anastasia herself is the ultimate authority, revered by the followers, and her word is law. [Read more] |
