Allium drew a deep breath and slid onto her back, her arms sprawled above her head in defeat. "I... know she does," she said with a hesitant tone, "it just seems like every time I talk to her it... it ends in anger. I just seem to tick her off in general." She crossed her legs, turning to face Matthew. "Sorry to rant--especially since she's your friend. Anyways, how long ago did you meet Adriane?" Allium said, quickly changing the topic before he had a chance to reply.

Wisty blinked in surprise. Glacier's ominous attempt to reassure her about Rogue's character unsettled her, and after he left the room the two hybrids sat in a brief, shocked silence.
Adeline was significantly less intimidated by Glacier's words (and by him in general); having come from a regretful past herself, she found it in the best interest to simply evaluate Rogue from what she did know. She cleared her throat, "Crystal's in her room if you want to go see her."

Anne's face twisted in thought. "You can go if you'd like, but Wither did ask me to guard it and I think I'll just follow through to be safe. Besides, she's probably mostly just worried about intruders or moles--especially moles, ever since the incident." Her eyes trailed to the door of the room.

Wither smiled softly as she watched Dark and Magnolia. She said nothing, not wanting to ruin their heartfelt moment.

Dawn steadied a calming hand on his shoulder. "She's perfectly okay. Take a deep breath, alright? Everything is okay. She's safe and she's in the cottage with me right now," she told him. Her lip quivered ever so slightly thinking about Maxwell's trauma, but she regained her composure for the sake of reassuring him.
"Listen, Maxwell. I'm not going to lie to you--it's a tough situation. As much as I want to let you two be together, it's far too dangerous for you and we need to focus on getting you home. Is there any way at all you can contact anyone? Your brother?"

Reign slowly shuffled back to Rain's side. His eyes were narrowed to signify his wariness; he was never the one that handled the diplomatic matters and instead chose to sink to the background to let his brother take charge.
Rain looked at the image carefully for a while, then turned to peer at Jackson's face as if searching for any detail that would indicate a lie. But there was anger in his eyes, and when he took a minute to reevaluate his mood, he decided that he was far too emotional to rationally make this decision. He nudged Scarlet softly and cocked his head to silently ask her what she thought.

Jack's eyes traced her hand as it drew closer to her face. He listened closely to what she was saying, eager to find a good idea, but as he processed her plan his eyebrows furrowed and his ears pinned back. "Wh--Crystal, no. I guess you're right in that nobody will stop us, but the point is to not leave you alone. It wouldn't be the first time I lie--we'll go in together. I doubt they'll check my ID if I'm not being treated," he said, his voice low but steady.
He took a deep breath and lightly ran the tip of his claw-like nails across his jawline. Jack lightly put a hand on Crystal's back. "Let's get going, yeah?" He urged, softly nudging her.

She bit the inside of her cheek. "Rowan's terrible at handling his temper, but... he has a good heart. I really do hope you two can make amends, as much of an idiot he is," Jinx replied with a hint of sadness.

"Thank you. You're very soft," Anne replied with a polite bow of the head, deducing that the most polite thing to do in order to give thanks was complimenting him back. She smiled again in light of Konani warming up to her--she'd thought it would take a longer time.

Wither perked up and looked down at Magnolia. "Yeah," she cooed softly, "I'm here." Her hand stopped moving but didn't pull away from the top of Magnolia's head, simply resting there as light as she could muster.

Father? Reign thought, his guard dropping ever so slightly in surprise. He looked back at Rain. From sight, it was easy to tell that there was still lingering anger for Crysia's sake, but he was trying to suppress it as a means of maturity.
Rain slipped his hand into Scarlet's to calm himself. "We need proof that she's safe," he said in what was a steady growl. "Your words aren't enough to gain peace."

Dawn pressed her tongue against the roof of her mouth when she saw Maxwell but embraced him lightly and ruffled his hair. "Hey, kiddo. It's good to see you again," she said as calm as she could as to not make his emotional situation any worse.
What has Jasper done to you? She thought, not even sure how she would be able to confront him. Dawn glanced over her shoulder at Justin with softened eyes--it was difficult to see in the dark, but they were glossy with held-back tears--and noticed how he simply stood in the doorway. Her first instinct was to motion at him so he would come closer, but she stopped herself.
He's in a raw emotional state, she thought guiltily, Umbra could win at any time. God, Maxwell can't even get home on his own... but I can't leave Fallow alone here. Not with anyone. They're all too dangerous.

At this point, Mavis was not even surprised that Xena knew about everyone else. Xena seemed not that far from an all-knowing deity and she had come to fully accept it. "How... long will we be gone?" She asked in a soft voice that almost resembled that of a small child's. "... Is it far?"

Rain, who had decided to try and hear Jackson out, completely dropped his demeanor. "You bound her?!" He hissed, his eyes wide with pain. He dug his nails into his palm to suppress his anger--he knew that it would be useless to fight someone so powerful--and inhaled sharply. "You hardly even know her! She's already a goddamn slave to your mother--could you not have chosen anyone else to carry out whatever chores you needed? You're a prince! There are thousands of servants that would be more than willing to do what you want!"

Allium blinked and simply stared, straight-faced, at Maxwell for a couple of seconds. Her eyes glittered as she searched for senses of humor. "Matt, are you serious?" She asked in what was almost a whisper, craning her face towards him so that he could hear her better. She chuckled breathily. "Wisty's clearly a special case. She has feelings for her, mate. It's not girls, it's just Wisty."
--------
Wisteria pursed her lips and awkwardly rubbed her elbow. She was hurt by the stranger's coldness and was now a bit too intimidated to try and engage in further conversation.
"That's Glacier," Adeline said calmly, already knowing that the shy ice dragon didn't want to engage in further conversation. "He's Rogue's old friend. Rogue seems to know everyone around here, doesn't he?"
"Yeah, it's a tad bit odd. I met him when he was passing through a Light dragon city, actually. Never found out quite why he was there, but I bought him a coffee and saw him every then and again while he was in the area. I didn't think I'd ever see him again."

Dawn knocked on the door as she pushed it open to alert Maxwell of their presence. "Hello?" She called out, stepping in the barn with her hip still against the door. For a split second, she wondered if Justin was tricking her, but she thought back to how he cried and figured that even Justin wasn't manipulative enough to pull a stunt like that. She was warming up to him and didn't want to fight him, either.
"Maxwell, hon, are you in here? I won't hurt you, promise. Justin's here," she said in a louder voice.

Mavis let her hand rest on Xena's head. It was softer than she thought it would be, although animals tended to stay away from her for the most part. She nodded, not completely understanding what Xena meant, and tucked her hair behind her ear. There was something maternal about Xena that made Mavis trust her--or perhaps it was her lack of a paternal figure that made her want to look for one, but either way Mavis had decided that she was set on going.

"Oh, dear, not for a long time. We need to sort ourselves out first--I don't know how much they tell you guys, but our focus is mostly on building our system to be able to support the expanding amounts of refugees that we take in. Eventually, we're going to have to split apart the refugees and whatever military we're trying to scrape together; it's too dangerous to keep them in the same base, y'know. There are too many casualties by itself," Anne said. She blushed and shrunk back when she realized that she had gone on a tangent.
"Sorry," she mumbled. "I probably shouldn't even tell you that. It's just... they give a lot of information to us strategists and expect us to handle it. It's a lot."
------------------------
"It'll get better," Wither reassured, lightly running her fingers through Magnolia's hair to comb it. "Is... the fever thing normal? How long does it usually last?"

Before Rain could fully process the idea of a vampire priest and respond, Reign whipped his arm down laxly and skimmed the tip of his sword against the ground. "Get out of here and stay the hell away from our cousin," he snapped, his eyes narrowing.
"Reign--" Rain began, but Reign glanced back at him with the same glare.
"This bastard has wronged us several times--I don't think you were there when he tried to make a move on your girlfriend, but he's too deceptive to mess with. To think that we should forgive so easily is ridiculous," Reign replied.

Jack's face scrunched up when she mentioned the apothecary. "Crys, they'd... ask us questions. Maybe even try to get us to report to the police--we'd have to find a small local one. Gosh, I don't even know where to begin to find one..." He rubbed a hand against his face with frustration.
He gently took the bag of coins and stared at her face, his stomach churning not from the blood but the fear that the worst would happen.
Jack took a deep breath, "Okay. I'm sure we can just... ask someone where the nearest apothecary is, but bringing you out in public worries me. People would ask too many questions and there are too many guards just prancing around--we'd get caught. I... could go ask someone alone, but I'd have to leave you here and that'd be risky."

Jinx gritted her teeth. The loving sister part of her wanted to defend Rowan--she hadn't asked, but she knew that he wouldn't have even talked to Willow if not for a good reason--but at the same time, she wanted to yell at him for harming Willow. "I'm sorry about him," she said instead with an exhausted exhale. It was the best she could do for now and she meant it.
"I worked it out with that client after you left, anyway; I think I forgot to mention. No sweat, yeah?" She smiled and sat back on the stool behind the counter, her wings shifting ever so slightly.

Dawn pursed her lips. "I'll keep Jasper from you as best I can, but I'd recommend sleeping in the room with Belle tonight. Just... make sure you're not alone and stay in the house. He sleeps with Cedar," she informed, her voice monotone as she gave him the facts. Emotion seeped into her voice, a small crack which worries oozed through when she talked about Fallow.
"Thank you for not mentioning it to Fallow. I know it's probably right that she knows, but she's in such a terribly fragile state right now... you can tell just by looking at her that adding anything else to worry about would make her crack." She exhaled and shook her head. Dawn slipped ahead of Justin to the barn door and inched her finger towards a bush that sat comfortably against the exterior wall. Her eyes softly glowed the same light green that Fallow's would and the roots of the plant began to shift, rustling as it navigated through the dirt until a single root curled around a silver key popped out of the ground.
"I say this affectionately, but I don't trust anyone here with the individual rights to anything on this land." She looked back at Justin curtly and opened the barn doors, slowly as to not alert Maxwell.

"No," Mavis blurted, a subconscious reaction. The idea repulsed her; hardly days ago she had dreamt of taking a life by that of a light disc--someone important, but she couldn't remember--and the memory still churned her stomach. "I can't do that."

Crimson smiled at Jackson, warmly, and hopped off the ground. He began to hover and criss-crossed his legs with his back turned to the group.

Reign narrowed his eyes but listened to Jackson's words. He lowered his sword with great reluctance after looking over his shoulder at Rain, who gave him a soft nod. "Explain the water," he demanded.

"It didn't come off that way," Anne replied, her nose crinkling instinctively from being pat (it reminded her vaguely of her twin brother, who had always acted as if he was older).
"I guess I like gossip, too. It's interesting to just hear about people and their lives in the camp, even if it's the most basic of things."

"It'll all calm down tomorrow," Wither reassured when she caught Kurai's words. "The... political debating or whatever to convince Tony is my job, after all. In all fairness, it was completely on me that you two went on the trip." She grew silent as something dawned on her. Sensing her unease, Void curled up in her lap.
"You don't think that had something to do with it? Just being around all of those military demons... we did, bluntly, murder quite a few."

Rain gritted his teeth and protectively stood next to Scarlet, skimming his perimeters and silently chastising himself for not realizing she was gone. He stared at the stranger with bubbling hatred--the idea of losing Crysia again made him livid--and it was only then that he realized that fangs were bared at him. A vampire with holy water? Rain's anger was now immediately overshadowed with confusion, perplexed to the point that he was frozen as he tried to think of a normal, realistic answer for this.
Reign was too provoked to care. "The hell did you do to her?" He snapped, his knuckles turning white on his sword handle.

Jack, who had little to no knowledge about medical emergencies, kneeled down next to her and lightly put a hand under her chin to examine it. It doesn't look very good, he thought, biting his lip to keep himself from saying it. Just seeing it was enough to make him flinch thinking about the pain that she was going through.
"It's... not too deep. But I don't think you should open your eye right now--blood might get in it and I-i, um, don't think that's good for your eye." He dug through his satchel and pulled out the extra t-shirt that he wore in the warmer weather. "Cloth," he said as he lightly weaseled it into her hand. "You like... put pressure on wounds until they stop bleeding, right? T-that's a thing."
---------
Jinx emerged from the back room with a surgical mask obscuring her mouth from view. It was marked with sparse droplets of blood. She quickly took it off when she remembered that Yuzuki was in the room, not wanting to subject the young child to any gore. "How's your wrist feeling?" She asked softly, a bit worried about Willow's stubbornness; she had told her that it would be best to rest it and not come help at the apothecary, but, like Rowan, it was hard to convince her out of things.

Anne blinked sharply, taken aback by the question. "No," she replied in a heartbeat; upon realizing how blunt and firmly she said it, she decided to add context. "I'm not... mingling, as they say. I prefer it that way." She softly smiled at him as she thought about her own familiar.

Wither sat next to Magnolia and lightly put her hand on her head, biting the bottom of her lip with concern as she felt the heat. She brushed her hair in a sort of maternal way, her fingernails barely brushing through as to not accidentally wake her up. "Artificial venom. There were a few others, if I remember correctly," Wither chimed in. There was a pain in her eyes knowing that her father had a leading hand in the experiments--mostly with the testing, as he was more of a commander in the field--but she could hardly remember anything else.
