"I've never seen that kind of Pokemon before," Evelyn says, peering at the small Pokemon in Phoebe's arms even as her PokeDex begins recording its data. "Aww, it's so cute. Hey there, little guy." She wiggles her fingers at it, holding up Sheryl so she can get a better look. The Mareep nudges Evelyn's hip with his head, looking curious about the newborn. "I'm pretty sure this guy's pretty young, too," Evelyn adds, patting the Mareep gently on the head. He seems confused about the touch, shying away, but then appears to accept it as a nonthreatening move. "He's only level two, and he didn't really seem to know how to battle." She looks at him, wondering what she should call him. Oswald has a nice ring to it. She startles as a gray blur races by them, mrrowing fiercely, and jumps, moving out of the way in surprise. The Absol makes a chirring noise that sounds suspiciously like laughter. "Yeah, this is exactly why I don't have a name for you," Sorrel says, though his tone is half-hearted because despite himself, the Absol's standoffish (and if he's being honest, rude as heck) attitude has grown on him some. "You can be Pokemon Zero so you can ditch me whenever." -- Evelyn follows after the two other girls at a distance, mostly to keep in pace with her Budew, who's recovered from Paralysis thanks to Maeve's Cheri Berry, who she still needs to thank. But Maeve seemed really concerned for Sean, not that she can fault her, considering how close they seem to be. She can't help but be a little jealous, but she squashes those feelings down. She exchanges a glance with her still-paralyzed Pokemon and makes a quick decision, snatching up the PokeBall and Sheryl to run after them, calling, "Don't leave me behind!" Maybe not the brightest idea, but she opens her PokeDex as she runs, curious as to her new Pokemon's capabilities. Mareep... hm. She views his ability, and her mouth forms an "o" as understanding dawns on her. "Static", probably from all the electricity discharged by his woolly pelt, giving Sheryl a Paralyzed status. if you watch playthroughs of DDLC, most people seem to focus in on either Yuri or Monika being the "creepy" one and tend to not trust them. if you haven't noticed, monika's the only one whose sprite faces the screen instead of being at a 3/4s angle like all the other girls, almost like she's talking to the player instead of the protagonist... -- "Mareep, huh," Evelyn muses aloud. Electric type... and Sheryl is Grass type, which means she has the advantage here. "Um, Sheryl, use Absorb!" Sheryl obeys, getting a jump on the unsuspecting Pokemon. He squeals with surprise, woolly fur sparking with electricity as his HP drops rapidly, Sheryl's attack having landed a critical hit. But it seems he's not the only one affected--Sheryl cries out, twitching slightly from the electricity. Instantly worried, Evelyn checks Sheryl's status--Paralyzed? She doesn't have a Paralyze Heal! She chews her lip anxiously as the Mareep, HP nearly gone, staggers to his feet, probably preparing to attack Sheryl, who's unable to dodge. Evelyn makes a quick decision, grabbing for an empty PokeBall at her waist, taking care to aim for the unsteady Pokemon, and throws. The PokeBall hits and the automatic mechanics trigger the PokeBall to open, trapping the Mareep inside before hitting the grassy floor. It rocks once, twice, and three times, the third weaker than the rest, before stilling. Sorrel makes a frustrated noise and throws his hands up in the air. "You know what, I'm done," he says, taking sharp breaths to try and calm himself down. "Bye." Without another word, he stalks off towards Route 202, suddenly extremely conscious of the fact that it's just him and Ina. As if to say Finally, the Absol rises to her feet and trots after him. "Dude, why are you following me?" he asks her with a slightly irritable bite to his tone. -- Evelyn keeps moving, setting a slower pace so Sheryl can keep up and keeping an eye out for wild Pokemon, hoping nothing fire or flying pops out. Sheryl makes a noise of warning just as the grass rustles. She freezes, holding her PokeDex out as a blue head pokes its way out of the grass. "That's not even--" Sorrel takes a deep breath as if to calm himself. "Look, Eenie, or Ima, or whatever your name is--" Ina, his brain supplies helpfully, "--I know you didn't do it on purpose, except maybe I was expecting an apology because you bowled me over like this is Wii Sports!" -- Evelyn takes a long look down at the route before her, squinting to see the next town. It'll take a while, especially since she knows how long battling can drag out, but she does want some potions. She has a few PokeBalls, gifts from her parents before she left, but that's it. "Good job!" Evelyn exclaims, and Sheryl positively preens, even as the Bidoof shakes itself off, growling at Sheryl. With a whimper, Evelyn watches as Sheryl's attack drops. Fortunately, Absorb seems to be a Special attack. "Hit it with another Absorb!" Sheryl obeys eagerly, and Evelyn watches as the Bidoof's HP slips from green to yellow while Sheryl's fills up completely. Threatened, the Bidoof goes for another Tackle, sending Sheryl skidding back a few feet, but even before Evelyn can call out a command, the Budew saps up the rest of the Bidoof's HP. "Woah," Evelyn says as the battle ends, Sheryl skipping to her with only a few bruises. "You're clever, aren't you," she coos, bending down to pat her Pokemon on the head. "Good job!" [Read more] |

Quickly, she looks at Sheryl's attacks--Absorb and Growth. Growth is a booster, she thinks, frowning, but she doesn't have the time as the Bidoof attacks instantly with tackle. She winces as Sheryl staggers from the attack. "Absorb?" she suggests, but it seems to be all Sheryl needs, sapping a good quarter of the Bidoof's health and regaining half of that. [Read more] |

By the time she catches up, she realizes they're already in a battle, and with a Starly. A little further down the route, she spots a few other trainers doing the same. She glances down at Sheryl and her PokeDex. While the Starly's level is significantly lower than Sheryl's, it's still a flying type, and she doesn't want to risk Sheryl's health quite yet. Premise: You, a Pokemon trainer, have just been washed up on the shores of the Shrouded Island, a famous mythical island. But it’s not so mythical now, you’ll find, because you’re standing on it, colorless sand slipping into your shoes and a sprawling, gloomy forest looming ominously ahead. What will you do now? Will you set off on your own and risk the terrifyingly strong wild life? Will you stay on the beach and try to find a way home? Or will you band together with the other trainers stranded here? Setting: The Shrouded Island is said to be a island in the middle of the sea, obscured by a thick mist. Those who land on its shores never return. But it is a myth. The actual island is surrounded by cliffs except one, small shore where you were lucky enough to wind up instead of dead against the rocky cliffs. And except for that small stretch of beach, everything else is forest. There is no sunlight, everything murky and lit by strange, glowing lights and Pokemon. The berries here are foreign. Some of them are toxic, strong enough to poison with a single bite, while some are delicious and safe to eat. But the biggest danger here is the Pokemon, all vicious and much more powerful than a normal one. None will see reason, driven by some strange force. The deeper you go into the forest, the stronger they get. Perhaps it is this force’s influence. There are five layers to the forest: the Outskirts. The Pokemon here are ranged level 1 to 20, though you should never underestimate them. Pokemon here are much stronger than normal Pokemon. Layer 2 is slightly deeper than the Outskirts, and Pokemon leveled 21-40 can be found here. Layer 3 is much darker than Layer 2, and a strange oppressive air can be sensed. Pokemon level 41-60 are found here. Layer 4 is inhabited by Pokemon leveled 61-80 here, and it seems to be… brighter than even the Outskirts, but it’s very artificial. And Core, the innermost layer, inhabited by Pokemon level 81-100. Of course, there’s not much information on it… Battle Mechanics: This RP will be heavy on battling, which is why I have implemented an RPBot to be fair. Here is how it will work. Your character will attack, and you look at the accuracy stat of the attack, or just guesstimate it. If it’s higher than 70, if you roll a 5 or higher, your attack lands. If it rolls lower, it misses. If your accuracy is lower than 70, you have to roll a 10 or higher, the exception being the OHKO attacks--you have to roll a solid 20 to get it. If you’re fighting an NPC, specifically the wild Pokemon, the Pokemon’s attack, sp. Attack, defense, and sp. Defense stats will be raised by 50%. Accuracy is lowered: the NPC has to roll a 10 or higher for an attack of 70 or more accuracy to land and a 15 or higher for lower than 70. To decide how much damage an attack that lands does to a Pokemon, you have to look at the base stats of the two Pokemon + levels. (This can be found on Bulbapedia.) Generally speaking, if your Pokemon has an attack of 20 or lower, the dice does not change. If your Pokemon has an attack of 21-100, you get to add +20% damage to your attack. For 101-200, you get to add +40% damage to your attack. For 201-300, you get to add +60% damage to your attack. For 301-400, add +80%. For 401+, 2x damage. The same applies for sp. atk, sp. def, and defense. This does not mean you can’t be creative with attacks! If you need help with this, I can always be of assistance! It's not actually that complicated, it's literally just rolling a dice to see if your attack hits, and to see if it does any damage. If the crazy Battle Mechanics haven’t scared you off yet, I’ll get into the Rules: 1: Please be respectful OOC. No bigotry or discrimination of any kind is permissible. In character, however, I’m fine with it. 2: This RP takes place over Discord, the link to which will be provided at the bottom of the document/forum. As it is over Discord, it is rated T+, which means swearing and inappropriate humor is allowed, but ONLY in the Discord chat. 3: Any and all levels of roleplayers are allowed. 4: You may have as many characters as you can keep up with. Please try and keep the genders even between male and female. Agender/Nonbinary/etc. characters do not factor. 5: Do not have over-powered or Mary Sue characters. If I find your character falls under that category, I will point it out to you and ask you to change them a bit. In a similar vein, young trainers will naturally have weaker Pokemon than older, more experienced trainers. If your character is only 14, please don’t give them a level 60 Charizard without any issues. 6: To keep it fair, Mega Pokemon and Shiny Pokemon are not allowed in this RP. 7: You can post the form either in a google doc and send it to me or just post it in the thread. 8: If you would like anything clarified, I would be more than happy to do so. Name: Sorrel Carbonell Gender/Pronouns: Male/He/Him Age: 21 Sexuality/Preference: He likes dudes. Personality: In short: Sorrel is lazy, unmotivated, bitter, too smart for his own good, scathing, and has a morbid sense of humor. The longer version is pretty much that he’s lazy because he’s unmotivated; he has no reason to do anything anymore. His sense of humor is pretty callous and he can come off as insensitive; although it seems like he might not care if his words affect others, he has a horrid guilt complex and if someone shows signs of being effected negatively by his words he doesn’t apologize, but he does stew in guilt for a while and try to make it up to them. Sorrel’s also a genius, but he and everyone around him all agree it’s wasted talent on him, since he doesn’t have the motivation to do anything, which is the main reason why he dropped out of college. Nothing really seems to effect him, but it’s mostly just him acting aloof because it’s how he learned to survive. Whenever he feels like someone’s trying to insult him, he bites back extremely harshly, though it’s a bit difficult to figure that out since most of what comes out of his mouth is an insult anyways. Sorrel, despite getting defensive over certain things, never really denies anything anybody has to say about him, since he figures if they see it, it’s gotta be at least a little true. He doesn’t actually like humans very much, and they don’t like him in return, but Sorrel loves Pokemon, and Pokemon tend to like him in return. Since they don’t talk, and they can’t understand a word of what Sorrel says, he has infinite patience for them. Sorrel is actually lowkey terrified of children despite them seeming to love him. He’s too scared of accidentally saying something wrong or hurting them, so he tends to avoid kids, though he’ll never say no to one. Sorrel blinks at the small blue Pokemon, a water type that was discovered in Johto. If he's correct, they evolve into Quagsire, which is a serious powerhouse, despite its less than impressive appearance. Wooper isn't weak, either, even if it has... no arms. "She's cute," he says, giving a little wave towards the small Pokemon in the girl's arms. And because he can't help himself okay, he's a bit of a jerk, what can he say, "She's also small. Suits you." -- Evelyn stifles a laugh despite herself, disguising it as a cough. She sets Sheryl, who'd started squirming a little, on the ground at her feet. "I helped raise a Wooper before," she offers with a small smile. "My parents specialize in water and grass types, and I helped with the Pokemon occasionally. They're really friendly." [Read more] |
