Nemiru watched as one of the intruders drew a circle in the air, and immediately he dropped to the ground. The young witch quickly tried to scramble away but was grabbed by the wrist. "I suggest you don't try and run if you want to keep your legs attatched to your body."

Nemiru felt a chill run down his spine at the threat, like somebody had dumped a bucket of ice on his head. He lurched after the two strangers as they pulled him through the halls, finally kicking open the door to the theater room. Inside, Nemiru caught sight of several students and a few teachers. While most seemed fine, the young witch could tell that somehow a few of those in the room had been frozen by this unusual magic. Barcus, Jerbo, and Viney being some of the few. Quickly trying to swallow down the fear rising in his throat, he turned around to find the doors had closed. A few intruders were posted around the room, standing guard.

Gripping his arms tight, Nemiru pushed his way over to Barcus and the other frozen victims. He couldn't quite tell what was wrong with them. Even if he had his lyre on him, the witch doubted it would be a good idea to try and fight the intruders. They could easily overpower him, and he would likely end up frozen as well. Biting his lip, Nemiru sat down next to the still form of his friend. This was really bad.

Playing another note, Nemiru watched as his bard magic spread through the halls setting off more of the bells, and even the occasional alarms as he saw them. He should have known something would happen to disturb the strange peace he had observed. Something ran past the corner and he played another note, a book flying out of a locker and slamming into the figure's side.

He didn't stop running until he had entered an unfamiliar hall. He leaned against his knees, panting as he slowly picked up his lyre once more. Things seemed to slow down as a figure ran towards him, and Nemiru played a chord on the instrument, only to find no sound emerge. Their magic had to be the cause of this, but how? Quickly, Nemiru drew his hands in a circle, and a small pillar emerged between him and the stranger, blocking their attack before crumbling to dust.

He scrambled back, eyes wide in panic as he tried to hold off his attacker, focusing more on trying not to use construction magic again, rather than on his opponent. He heard thundering steps behind him before he found himself suspended in the air. He couldn't move anymore, like time had stopped him where he was. Nemiru felt his eyes water as fear took a hold of him. He was completely helpless, trapped in the air by some kind of magic he had never seen before.

The bell screamed up on the wall, alerting the students that it was once again time to continue classes. With a soft sigh, Nemiru stood up from the table, his back popping as he straightened up. The witch cleared his tray, saying goodbye to the former detention track students.

The witch stepped back inside his homeroom, spotting a few students who were already in the room. He sat himself down in a chair, drawing a spell circle in the air. A few moments later, his lyre sat comfortably in his hands. The bell screamed again, signifying that students had one minute to get to class, and that's when Skara entered. Waving his friend down, he grinned as she sat in the seat next to him.

The period slowly passed by, accompanied by the sounds of several instruments playing at once. It wasn't sounding too nice either. Today was simply focused on trying to move medium-sized, nonliving objects with their bard magic, a solo project. Plucking at a string on his lyre, Nemiru watched as a faint red glow outlined the book in front of him. He continued to play a short tune, slowly getting the book to slide closer in his direction. He witch brightened, seeing his progress. He had definitely improved since the start of the lesson!

When the faint red glow of his magic had faded, Nemiru began to play the tune once more. His finger pulled across the string, but no sound came. Narrowing his eyes, the young witch tried again to no avail. Looking up, he finally noticed the other student's confusion. The room had gone silent. Nemiru looked to Skara, who was still trying to get a song to emit from her instrument. He reached out, grabbing her shoulder before he found himself on the ground. Blinking wildly, Nemiru looked up to find an older witch that he was unfamiliar with in the room. How had they gotten there?

As the bard track teacher engaged the stranger, Nemiru grabbed Skara's hand, running from the classroom. The school was under attack. Did Principal Bump know? Once Skara had begun to run beside him, he pulled out his lyre once more, quickly playing an A minor chord. He watched as his magic spread throughout the halls, and quickly playing another note, the surrounding bells began to scream. At least now the students not yet aware of the danger would know something was wrong.

Nemiru yelped as he found himself pinned to the wall, his lyre laying on the ground a few feet away. How were they so fast? Nobody had been in the halls beside Skara and him, he was sure of it. The young witch tried to punch the stranger in the face, but quickly found his arm pulled behind his back. The sound of Skara's instrument filled the hallway, and his attacker was knocked off their feet. Using this to his advantage, Nemiru kicked the strange witch down, running down the hall with Skara. They reached a split in the hallway, and he nodded to his friend before traveling down a different hallway. They could cover more ground separately.

Nemiru settled back down at his table with the multi-track students, easily sliding back into a conversation with Barcus. Maybe the slowness of the day wasn't a bad thing after all. It was actually kind of nice to just sit back and relax without having to worry about any kind of drama or magic eating basilisk. He gave a soft chuckle at that thought. Sure it hadn't been funny in the moment, but afterwords it was just a little funny. Still a little terrifying.

"Oh, I see." Nemiru said with a small nod. "Yeah, that probably helped you make your decision huh." And looking at that logic, maybe it made sense why he struggled to pick just one track of magic to stick with. His family all used different kinds of magic, he got to see all the wonderful aspects of every type of magic it felt like. But then again, it also made little sense. No one else in his family seemed to feel this way.aybe he was just strange. Nemiru quickly turned his attention back onto Pledge and her dragon, quickly giving a soft smile to hide the frown that had begun to tug on his face.

"Well, it was nice talking to you!" The witch said, and he meant it. It wasn't often he spoke to someone outside of Barcus and Skara, it was nice to get a whole new perspective on things.

"That's so cool!" Nemiru said cheerily. "When the whole multi-track thing became possible, I totally thought about giving it a try, but well... I would never be able to pick which tracks I would also like to join. They are all just so cool." Realizing he was about to start rambling, the witch shrugged, cutting off any side tangents he was about to begin.

"That's fair." Nemiru said with a small laugh, "I've got to admit, I'm rather curious about what it's like to participate in two different tracks. I think Viney is also in the Beastkeeping and Healing tracks, but I doubt you share all the same classes with her."

As he began to ramble, he tentatively reached out a hand to try and stroke the small dragon on the table. "Where you also in the detention track with Barcus, Jerbo and Viney? Or did you just select another track during the school year? Do your parents know? Are they okay with it?"

Nemiru nodded, trying to get closer to the dragon. "Do you know how the spell circles work to summon it?" He chuckled at the beasts behavior.

"Oh, I'm Nemiru, by the way." The witch said, remembering he had yet to introduce himself to the stranger he had just barraged with questions. That was kind of embarrassing.

Finally tearing his hands from his face, Nemiru tapped frantically on the table. It had actually been rather quiet at Hexside today, a miracle in every sense of the word. It wasn't unusual for some demon to storm through the halls, or for a younger student to lose control of their magic. Though mostly it was Boscha stirring up drama wherever she went. Nemiru shivered at the thought of the triclops, trying to distract himself by stealing another glance at the dragon.

Barcus must've seen the look in his eye, as the demon gave a small bark. Nemiru gave his friend a small smile, "I'll be back. I just have to see how it works!"

Standing up and pulling away from the table, Nemiru raced over to the dual-enrolled student, slamming his hands on the table with a loud bang! He lightly flinched at the volume, he hadn't meant to be so loud and abrasive, he was just rather excited. He looked at the two colors displayed on the students uniform. Blinking, he realised he might have interrupted a conversation. He felt heat rise up his face as he flushed slightly in embarrassment.

"Uhm- I... Your demon, it's some kind of dragon, right? Do you summon it using beastkeeping magic, I noticed you were wearing the track colors. How does it work?"

Nemiru listened to Barcus as the dog demon spoke, his mind absentmindedly working to translate his barks into words. His friend had just come back from a potions class, and had begun a small lecture on the correct way to brew a truth revealing potion and all the ways it could go wrong. Nemiru listened intently, wishing he could write it all down. In theory it had sounded simple, but once Barcus had begun to explain in greater detail how it had to he done, Nemiru understood why the potions weren't mass produced.

Hearing a small whoosh, the young witch ducked his head down as a small dragon flew overhead, landing next to a witch wearing the beast keeping and healing track colors. Nemiru stared at the multicolored uniform with no small sense of longing. Truthfully he wanted to learn about all sorts of different magic, but his family worked closely with the Emperor's coven. It wouldn't be wise to try and practice more than one track of magic. It also wasn't worth upsetting his parents over. No, Nemiru had to focus focus as Principal Bump would say.

Of course that wouldn't entirely stop him from practicing construction magic when he was alone. It was the least he could do to try and restrain himself better. It would certainly be easier once he joined a coven. Even if Nemiru would he tempted to try other types of magic, he would be unable to. He just had to wait until he graduated Hexside. Of course that brought a whole other wave of worries from him. Was he really so prepared to join a coven? He still wasn't sure if he even wanted to do bard magic for the rest of his life. Finally tearing his gaze from the orange haired student, Nemiru placed his palms over his eyes. If only he could just become a wild witch without hurting his parents, or breaking the law for that matter.

Nemiru drew a circle in the air, the line of orange following close behind his finger. His lyre dissapeared from his hands as the circle was completed. As much as he tried, he was never quite able to figure out where it went, it just ended up... somewhere until he summoned it again. The class had been rather slow throughout the day, and Nemiru had found it difficult to keep his mind focused on the lesson. Walking through the crowded halls, headed for the cafeteria. Skara had exited their class before him, but she had already found Boscha before he could flag her down.

Looked like he would be spending lunch with Barcus and the other former detention track students. Jerbo and Viney were pretty okay he supposed, but he just couldn't quite click with them. Spotting the dog-like demon, Nemiru grinned and walied over to his friend, a tray of food already settled in his hands.

An Owl House roleplay

Belos came from unknown origins, helping lift the Boiling Isles out of the Savage Ages and establishing the coven system. Since his rise to power, society has begun to flourish as like-minded witches and demons found comfort in covens. Magic schools began popping up more frequently, with fewer student deaths as well! However, not every witch has conformed to the coven system, continuing their practice in wild magic. These witches pose a danger to the coven system and people within it, and it is up to those within the Emperor's coven to bring the criminals to justice. But you shouldn't have to worry about any of that, you are just a student preparing to enter the newest magic school. Hexside may be one of the newer schools on the Boiling Isles, but it already has taught many powerful witches.

Vricollei stepped towards the cliff edge, whistling as he overlooked the hidden city. "Kinda looks like Geonosian tunnels, but like... for humans." The horned being lightly kicked a small pebble over the edge. "How do you suppose we get down there?" He had to admit, this hidden city had somewhat managed to catch his attention though it was less of the city and more of the possibility of treasure. The devaronian had never been good with anything to do with climbing or hiking, whatever one wanted to call it, but the unknown seemed to be a good enough motivation for him.

Vricollei groaned, slowly sitting up. "Well I'm not dead, but I've certainly been better." He gave out a coarse grumble as he stood up on his feet. He should consider retiring once he got out of here. He never would, but the devaronian felt like being dramatic. As if suddenly reminded of his blaster, Vricollei reached for his back, grasping the weapon, slowly exhaling as he found it felt intact. That was good, he couldn't imagine being stuck here without a weapon. "Are we all here or did some of us manage to escape the cave-in?"

Vricollei shot a look at Gin as if debating his question. He wasn't really the best with kids, the smaller they were the more trauma he ended up giving them is what Carissa had always joked. Perhaps Aten's history of broken limbs and head trauma spoke after their spars spoke enough of his child handling skill. On the other hand he knew children well enough to know that saying no might just upset the kid, especially in this type of situation. Looking up and shoving in his pockets, the devaronian finally gave his answer. "If you're sure you can handle it." He grumbled, fighting back a small smile.

Vricollei seemed shocked that the human hadn't heard of Sabacc despite stating they had been trapped in some sort of gambling hotel. He snorted hearing the part about magic, personally he had never been one to believe in the whole space wizard thing. The devaronian began describing the whole setup of the game. "So you've got a deck of 76 cards. You take 60 of those and sort them into the four suites, Coins, Flasks, Sabers and Staves. The remaining cars are your special cards..." Vricollei began to explain the entire concept, describing a game near similar to poker.
