Finch took Hokori’s hand and her other hand reached to the grass to hold on. If only she had brought her scythe, she could have hooked it into the dirt and held her ground... she felt a wave of dreadful regret. The wind wasn’t too intense, but it was definitely enough to bother her.

The wind started to relax, however the light got brighter. The centre was a vibrant yellow, growing, expanding, shimmering... It was somewhere between threatening and soothing, creating conflicting feelings as the blazing light danced through the clearing. It wasn’t long before a figure appeared, a tall, lanky figure with the outline of a sailor hat, small horns, a ponytail and a beak... That wasn’t all though, as they seemed to have large clawed hands with tufts of feathers or fur at the elbows and wrists. Some medium sized wings sprouted from their back as well as the tail of a bird. The outline thickened and with one final striking gust, the figure was fully revealed. An anthropomorphic black raven with a green-grey suit and golden shoulder pads, black trousers and large talons. Their most striking feature was golden eyes which surveyed the group keenly. A crooked smile inched across their face, delight in their eyes. “It’s great to finally meet you all properly? How are you?” That voice, that smug, taunting voice. It was Oneiro.

Finch grinned. Such an unlikely group seemed close already, and she didn’t want to split from them. Whether anything comes from this or not, she was content with a new friend group which she might have the privilege of keeping. She would soon find that she wouldn’t be splitting from them for a while.

The rippling in the air thickened suddenly, noticeable for everyone around. It stirred the leaves especially, the wind becoming harsh enough to stir balance but not enough to knock even Finch over. It felt like something soft was brushing against them, something which was rustling and moving. Any keen eyes would notice a faint green light illuminating the clearing.

Finch didn’t seem to be absorbing any of the words being spoken, but the idea she got was that more souls were joining the party, and it’s always fun to have more possible friends. The scarecrow smiled nonetheless, lowering her hand to go back under her poncho. “Can I get your names?” She piped up, her high pitched voice fitting of a short yet smiley scarecrow. She rocked from boot to boot, taking in the appearances of the newcomers with a curious expression.

Finch admittedly didn’t know what the best thing to do about the situation ahead of her. Ah, right, not bringing her scythe was a poor decision. Now that she’d unknowingly acknowledged her flaw, she stuck out her hand and snatched Hokori’s wand high in the air away from Tabbethuh, before lowering it into reach for the elf again. Evading the fox’s attack was the best idea for her, though she really wasn’t sure. Hesitation might be defeat, and if it was, would she be ready to embrace it? Finch stayed quiet, her expression tense.

Harper winced at the panic she saw written all over Val’s face. Harper felt her face heat up with embarrassment as she trailed behind him, her teeth gritted behind her lips and her fists curled into tense balls. Her white knuckles itched for hard contact with a wall, a bin or something fleshy, but one glance at Val’s back seemed to relax this urge. She exhaled, relaxing her muscles. Then she realised where she was again. Oh, Harper. You’re really in for it now.

Appearance: Xeraphina is an average height female with short black hair which falls around her shoulders and a fringe which covers her eyes. She has green horns (ones that go from her forehead and upwards with a slight curve) and dresses very formally, bearing a red collared shirt (no tie), a white blazer, white trousers and black shiny shoes. She has almond coloured skin and a soft yet angular face, with many scars over her eyes, which are white without details. She also has slightly clawed hands and a long and thin black tail. [X]
Personality: Xera is, in short, quiet. She’s not someone you could pin as evil or malicious, however when she gets talkative, she’s bitter, snappy and quick witted. Behind this, she’s a pretty emotionally weak person, crumbling under pressure and whispering things under her breath. She often is seen shaking.
Background: Xera doesn’t let a lot slip about her past, but it’s clear that whatever she did, she didn’t have any choice. She regrets it and gets stressed and panicked whenever it’s brought up.

Finch looked up at Hokori with a more confident grin. “You’re wise beyond your splendour, sir elf.” She put on a mockingly fancy tone, sneering lightheartedly. The scarecrow had a playful glint to her button eyes as she put a hand on her back and bowed low enough to get the tall, forest grass in her face, raising her head to face Hokori again. Finch wasn’t very wise, thus, she had no clue of the immediate danger any of them might be in. She wasn’t prepared to fight at all, in fact, she’d even left her farming scythe at home. A very unwise decision, she might find.

Harper laughed nervously as she raised her eyes to meet Val’s. “Well, no. Uh, it’s complicated,” She stammered, rolling her eyes to look in far-off direction. She gritted her teeth and hesitated for a while, her eyes conflicted and thoughtful as she chose her words carefully. “I wasn’t planning on going to any lessons, if you know what I mean.” She muttered in a dead-pan tone, finally meeting his gaze.

Finch twisted her head around to look at where the snakefolk had gone, before turning back to Eyre. “I mean, if we didn't, we’d be stupid,” The scarecrow retorted simply. She dusted off her poncho and looked into the dark of the forest, button eyes squashing and stretching as she strained her eyes. It was only then that she looked back towards the group. “I-I mean, only if all of us want to.” She added in a stammer, her tone almost desperate as she grinned nervously.

Finch tucked her hands into her poncho and twisted her head to look behind her. “Why’re we discussing killing stuff?” She piped up suddenly in a neutral tone, playfully bouncing from boot to boot as she waddled forwards. Her button eyes had a sort of far-off look in them as she held eye contact, though it wasn’t an unsettling look, more.. different. She could quote easily appear unsettling, however it wouldn’t be surprising if she was even aware of that. Nonetheless, she eyed the group with an innocent, curious yet clueless expression.

Harper had no idea what she was doing. Val was persistent, and she, for some forsaken reason, couldn’t find the heart to shake him off. He was like a little brother, in some wholesome, twisted way. “N-no. I don’t know my way around.” She admitted, scratching her head and keeping her eyes on the ground. Harper felt an honest comment on her tongue, but she swallowed it before even considering letting it out.

Throughout the duration of many people arriving in all shapes and sizes, Finch had just been watching in a manageable amount of surprise. Their wisdom and foresight was, in her opinion, brilliant, though she’d never claim that. Something about this situation was wildly uncomfortable, but so soothing at the same time. The scarecrow found herself staying on the ground, looking at people with hard, inspecting glances. She finally spoke, her high pitched voice sounding more like a collection of squeaks. “I agree! We should keep walking. Maybe we’ll find some more people who had that dream of ours.” Finch’s button eyes moved towards Alaparos, nodding eagerly.

The corner of Harper’s mouth lifted as the rest of her body froze. “U-uh,” She stammered, furrowing her brows as her eyes dropped. She found that this kid was so unaware that she found it hard to say anything at all. It was sort of endearing to her, like a little brother she never had. Wait, what was she thinking?! She should tell this kid to screw off! She twisted her head and looked to the side. “Harper, my name’s Harper.”

Finch tilted her head as if thinking. After a moment, she burst out in a jovial tone. “I’m Finch! Animated scarecrow toy thingamajig!” She leapt into the air again with a wide grin spread across her fabric head, slowly floating back to the grass. “It really does sound like that voice spoke to us all. Like, no way it didn’t, right? Does anyone know much about dreams? My dad said they mean stuff once, I don’t really believe it though...” She closed her eyes thoughtfully, tapping a wooden finger on her chin.

As if in response, the magic in the air got slightly heavier, before fading back into the rippling appearance it always had.

This time, Finch looked up towards the anomaly and tilted her head. She didn’t say anything, just simply staring at it with a thoughtful yet thoughtless look.

Harper’s face dropped. Folding her arms and letting out a highly exaggerated sigh, she opened her eyes again and looked at Val with eyes glittering with menace. “Listen, I don’t know who you are, or who they are, but I think it would be best if you scrambled on away.” Though her words were gentle, her tone was dripping with annoyance. She was sure this was enough to send him away without much word of her.. personality getting around.

Someone approaching her? That’s not normal. “Can I help you?” Harper raised an eyebrow, cocking her head to the side. She scanned Val through squinted eyes, her surprise conveyed through the skeptical look she gave him. She wasn’t sure if he wanted anything, but at the same time, she wasn’t sure how she was going to inevitably shut him down for whatever he needed nor wanted.

The forest air around them seemed to ripple slightly, the magic in the wind becoming heavier. It’s not wildly noticeable, but if you’re perceptive, you can feel it.

Clearly, Finch did not feel it. “There was some voice, they were pretty mad I think...” The scarecrow scratched her head, flakes of hay falling on the grass. “I don’t remember his name, but he might have burnt a University? No wait, the curses did. Is that what he said?” She sighed and made a conflicted sound, her eyes closed and brows, or where her brows would be, furrowed.

Harper let out a long, exaggerated sigh as she stared at the school. A new school? After getting kicked out of her old one, she felt a pang of apathy towards... well, everything. She was probably gonna get suspended from this one too, so what was the point of even trying? She frowned when the sun blasted her eyes and put a regretful hand on her forehead. The voices of other students caught her attention, making her remove a single earplug to listen to the chatter.

Finch’s mouth hung open in shock. So, not only had she shared dreams with a bunch of strangers, but now a wolf had just appeared in front of them all. “Woah there, puppy! We’re not gonna hurt you!” Finch squeaked, her tone flicking between scared, patronising and shocked. The scarecrow jumped backwards, floating gently in the air with her wooden hands holding in front of her. This was overwhelming for her, so Finch decided to focus on the most normal thing out of all of this situation. She didn’t agree with the elf’s brisk and almost ignorant tone, but she did find it slightly humourous.
