Natalia frowns in confusion. “In case that boy is right, we need to prepare a quick escape, scout for any nearby islands maybe. We need to replenish supplies on the boat, lumber, cloth, rope, lamp oil, biscuits, water and things like that. We should start watches, with weapons ready and we have to be always prepared.” Faith turns to Ace, calling out “Where are you going to go?”

Teri smiles, handing Bree an apple, as well as a plate of assorted foods. He then takes a plate of his own food, before sitting down, cross legged, doing some sums to clear his mind. 2,3,5,7,11,13,17…... 1,4,9,16,25,36,49. He counts out loud, and when he finishes this cycle, he begins speaking again. 52,39,30,20,17,18” So…176?” He speaks all these out loud, before handing Orin a slip of paper, showing him a detailed life like sketch of himself, pointing to his shoes, on it written several highly complicated equations. Teri frowns. “If the pair of you could elevate your feet a little more, and stop clomping like elephants, you can easily master stealth. Even if you’re blind, of course. A blind person’s other senses are highly elevated, so I know Bree has her strengths. She just needs to find them. She is not just a blind girl, Orin. In fact….my mother was deaf, and mute too. Yet she managed to thrive in her environment. So, that’s why, as you may have noticed, she and I never communicate via words, only actions, and sign language. Now, to prepare for the Arena. Our bellies are filled, or we have at least nourished ourselves in some way”

Teri taps Bree’s hand. On the Braille stamped plastic was written. “I’ll tell you all my true strengths if you prove I can trust you, and neither do I mind you giving me a challenge to prove my trust. I can’t trust Orin all that well, he’s really hard to read. Think about it, and reply in Morse code. “Apples” for yes, and “Hippos” for no. Try not to reply in simple yes or no, or Orin may be able to decipher it.” Teri speaks calmly to Orin. “I should need to ask. What art thou skills required in the Arena?”

Faith jabbered back rapidly in French. “I can’t master English, and except for a few basic words. So I learnt French, which was surprisingly easier for me. I speak an array of languages, but French is like my native tongue. Will you need to know what my strengths are?” She pauses for a while, then takes a piece of fruit and begins eating gingerly, having not sensed any poison in it.

Teri smiles, retapping the Morse code, changing King’s name to Orin. He keeps right on tapping, and something that looks like Masie pops up, rotating on the hologram projector. y=32a wherein x=37b+59c and the angle of depression is 64 degrees facing northeast with a interval of 6 and 2 miles per square kilometre in a field of 500cm square, with a=26784 - 21735. Ah, so therefore the prime root of the square of the hypothetical palindrome…32.745. He quickly recalculated his equation, then hands Bree a piece of plastic, Braille on it. “My talents, as you would assume, are matters of technology and persuasion, or to put it bluntly, manipulation. Apart from that, I do well with short range battles.”

Faith jabbers more in French, before writing on a piece of paper, asking about a translator, or someone who understood French. She writes down that she reads and writes English, but can’t speak it

Teri doesn’t say or do much, except for tapping a square on his arm guard, a hologram popping up. “System Authentication Process Complete. Now awaiting instructions.” Teri taps out Morse code, letters appearing on the screen. He stares at Masie Floss, before a light bluish glow passes through her. He panics, and immediately taps frantically, removing the blue light. He then taps again, and a screen visible only to him alone pops up, a file labelled “Masie Floss, King” printed on it in small block letters. He then gazed at both of them, then at Bree.

Faith gestures with her hand, signing out, letters. “Can’t you speak English?” To which she lies and shakes her head, before jabbering away in rapid French, making frantic detailed gestures. She switches to Spanish, and when they still don’t understand, she switches to Russian, sighing in exasperation.

Faith didn’t have anybody to say goodbye to, or at least she thought. Her older brother, Philip, came to visit. He too had run away from home, not liking the rules of their family, despite living lives of “luxury” as their parents were Careers. “Be safe, okay?” Philip says, tucking a strand of her silver dipped black hair behind her ears, and retying the bow in her hair. Faith looks at him, a tear slipping down her cheek, before hardening herself, looking outwardly like a pretty spoiled princess, inwardly carrying the heart of a soldier, a warrior. Just because she was young didn’t mean that she wasn’t capable. She clasped Philip’s hand, giving it a small kiss, before curtsying, and walking out, Philip too, leaving.

Teri exchanged a silent yet tearful goodbye with his mom. Teri softly recites “Sing Swan, Spring Swan, then let’s fly Follow the pretty bird across the sky.” His mother echoes back with a smile “Call Swan, Fall Swan, then let’s rest. Tucked in the branches of your quiet nest” This quote, seemingly guided his father to a peaceful safe rest.

“You’re not. Forgive me, but it seems almost laughingly obvious. To me at least. Some are more hard to read. I’m not being daring, no, not intentionally. I suppose it’s just a way of life. I was brought up this way. Careers and Gamemakers? I don’t fear them, I despise them. And yes, I do practice caution. Do you think I would talk to you so openly without using this? It is an obscure, a tech device that bends sound away for a short period of time” Teri shows Bree a small, sphere shaped object. There is a hint of pride in his voice as he says “I made it myself.” He adds in a softer tone. “I’m sorry about that. I suppose it is sad not to be able to wake up and see the sunrise”

“I hope so too. I reveal my intelligence only to those who share a hate for the capitol. If I’m wrong and accidentally reveal it to someone I wish not to, they will die, unfortunately. Fallon is a very loyal dog. My job is like a exterminator. I will weed out anyone that supports the Capitol. Just like you, I grew up in a loving family, despite not having a father. We’re not defenseless, trust me. I assume you lost your eyesight?” Teri comments

“I suppose. But I would assume they’re probably disappointed, having supported the Capitol scum all their lives. Their deepest desire probably is to be in the Games. And you’re facing me at a angle of approximately 16 degrees off, facing northeast of my right side of my body. Who’s your little friend?” Teri comments quietly.

Faith doesn’t blink when she hears her name. After all, she was bound to be picked no matter what. She walked up to the stage, before looking around curiously. She didn’t really know what to do, having never learnt much “social skills” due to her running away from home at the age of 10. Perhaps that was a little young? The other tributes were all probably much older than her. She thinks to herself. She twiddled the kukri in her hand, running her finger gently along the blade, before trying out a few defensive slashes. She looked really childish, in a pretty blue “princess dress” she hadn’t grown out of, and her hair let down, and a bow in her hair. However, she seemed to be elegant enough in terms of prowess, seemingly dancing with her blade.

Teri walked up to the stage when his name was called, pulling away from his mother with a sad smile. Teri wasn’t really considered on a son-mother relationship with his mom yet, but he loved her all the same. Teri’s mom took off her ring, and handed it to Teri. Although no words were exchanged, the atmosphere around carried something
intangible— it was clear both loved each other like a true pair of mother and son, although they didn’t express it very well. Teri joined Bree on the stage, his boots click-clacking loudly. He looks down at Fallon, admiring the dog. It must belong to that girl, Bree

The Hunger Games. A traditional, terrifying, well known event that people are used to. Emotions are high, the atmosphere is tense. It’s pretty normal, until the host changes. The winners of the Hunger Games begin disappearing one by one. That started in the year 2010. Now, it’s 2030. The Hunger Games are about to go through the Reaping. You receive an invitation, no, a order. You now have to participate in the Hunger Games. However, you notice something strange…… The people who deliver the letter have these choker like collar things around their necks. They look like…..shock collars. With a pained smile, they hand you a invitation.

tHe hungEr games wiLl Please the gamemakers. yoU have been invited to join uS.

This makes you wonder— Why is it written like that? Are they simply illiterate? Are they trying to be funny? Why do they suddenly appear? Why do they have those things around their necks? And why, why do they appear that way?

You quickly scan the letter. And soon decipher a code. Written in capital letters, “HELP US”. Upon close scrutiny, you notice minute writing. “Dip this in water” You do, and you see a map, small enough to be hidden, but still clear. It marks a tall spiralling building, slightly apart from the main island where the Games take place. You also notice something else, a small sparkling gold crystal in a bottle, in the envelope. You pocket it, now curious and fearful of what is to come. What do they mean, help us? Are they in danger? How am I going to achieve this? With the Gamemakers keeping close watch on the games, new security has also been added. How are you going to sneak away?

And what’s more, the rules have changed. By a lot Now, you are expected to hunt down your opponent, and publicly kill them. Failure to showcase a public killing at the centre of the arena will merit your death. Can you survive? Well, not that it matters now. You have been chosen, now you shall escape. You can’t run from fate, it will always catch up to you. And the new host knows that, very clearly indeed.

Now, basic rules apply.

Natalia glanced at the rumbling floor, before sighing in annoyance. She promptly took a book out, and sat down to begin reading, while casting a dome-shield over herself, to protect her from the oncoming rubble. She snapped a pair of earbuds on, then continued reading her book, clearly oblivious in her own world of “calm” Faith smacked her head, partly out of disbelief, and partly out of a strong desire to laugh. However many times she saw Natalia do this, she still found it immensely funny

“Do they have names? Or do we just call them Nightwalker 1 and Nightwalker 2?” Faith asks, setting the Nightwalker down so it could just freely roam around. She kept her berry pouch, before going outside with Tayla, and recasting the protective enchantments around the house, so as to hopefully prepare them against more minor disasters. She cracked her wand like a whip, emanating a red gold line, which she swished around, dancing and pirouetting gracefully, as the flames of the magic engulfed her. It healed her scratches, and also helped to revitalize her. She then waved her wand again, and transformed into a dark red haired lady with green eyes, just for fun and to confuse the Gamekeepers, before walking back to the house, to prepare with Natalia

Faith giggles at the Nightwalker trying to take the berries. “No, little one. These aren’t for you. Do they eat anything other than the berries and fairy dust?” She asked, while she picked up the wriggling Nightwalker who was still trying to reach for the berries

“Like this? Accio berry pouch!” She took out a singular, small case, inside of which were these three small berries. They’re really hard to find. I’ve only ever found two. One was a gift from my friend” Faith comments, walking into the house with the little Nightwalker trailing after her. She waves to Natalia and Jeremy, before waving her wand once more at the pot, preparing some hot, goopy stuff that tasted like oats and honeyed berries and nuts.

“Well, they didn’t, I suppose. Faith’s playing with one outside. I don’t suppose you could tell me more about it? It seems to like you rather a lot.” Natalia comments, watching the two interact, before catching the floating bowl of oatmeal that crashed through the door. “Thanks, Faith” She gestures to her friend outside. Faith holds out a round, shaped fruit. It smelled different to everybody, and to her it smelt like pine trees and lavender. She held the fruit out to the creature.

“Faith slept, but I didn’t.” Natalia says, before walking off towards to hut to get some sleep, indicating that the critter could follow if it wished. Faith had begun playing games with her critter, calling out a note, and getting the little creature to repeat the sound. She absentmindedly waved her wand, making oatmeal come out of nowhere, and putting it in a bowl

Faith picks up the smaller critter and strokes it, before turning to face Tayla. “I have no idea what they are, but they’re actually quite sweet and affectionate. When…you aren’t armed or holding weapons, that is.” She adds, pointing to the crossbow, and taking care to stay in the shade.

Natalia gestures to the taller of the two creatures, whistling a soft tune as she tries to coax it back down. Maybe a more physical demonstration? She then walked nearer to Tayla, placing a hand on her shoulder to show the creature that they were friendly with each other.
