The foul stench of rotting meat hit his nostrils long before he had entered the supermarket. He wasn't surprised, but wasn't entirely prepared. His brain seemed to be doing it's best to make him throw up on an empty stomach. He cleared his mind of these thoughts and sighed. It was unlikely that he'd find any fresh food in any supermarket now. And still, he had his pistol at eye-level. With difficulty, he lowered. There were no immediate threat present. Constantly keeping your finger on the trigger was just asking for trouble.

Locke kept his fists raised for a moment longer, then sighed defeated. Not in any physical manner, no, but at the mental game Halsey had always been so good at playing. He didn't say anything, just offered Dutch his rifle back and gestured for a medi-kit. He pulled out the shard of wood near the top his arm and removed the shoulder plate. It came away with a good amount of blood, and a small piece of bone was visible. He grunted as he used bio-foam to fill the wound and patched it up with a few bandages. Then, he went to retrieve his helmet, which had fallen some distance away.

Cutter jogged up to the main entrance. It was a matter of seconds before he had forced his way inside. He took in his surroundings. It had a kind of unrealistic beauty to it, the natural green and brown hues blending so perfectly with the complex's modern white and blacks, all bathed in a soft yellow sunlight filtering in from the shattered glass dome overhead. He shook himself from his thoughts. He needed to find food. He went directly for a store over to his right.

Locke kept his fists raised. He didn't even turn his head. "Halsey, you have ten seconds to give me a good reason not to kill him." he growled. It was much easier being rude to her than he had expected. He'd always held Halsey as a mother-like figure, someone who had molded him into what he was today. He had always thought this was why he was comparatively kind to her. Now he discovered that it had just been common courtesy.

"Locke's pretty pissed off at Glaurug giving you a certain set of co-ordinates. Let that piece slip while declaring his love for Faith." Dutch said simply, folding his arms. Honestly, in his opinion, they wouldn't be in this mess if Sliuril hadn't killed the ORIONs. She wouldn't have killed the ORIONs if Faith hadn't been captured. The science types had captured Faith. But, as Dutch saw Locke throw a punch at Glaurug's face, it didn't seem like the best time to mention that.

Locke stumbled forward from the comparatively light force of the kick and spun around, to face his opponent again, fists raised.

Cutter leaned against a wall, catching his breath. Was he really tired already? He blinked a few times to clear his thoughts. Water. He needed water. He pulled out his canteen and drained it. There we go. he thought as he felt the liquid flow down his throat. He'd need more later, but it was most immediate needs first. He wiped his mouth on his sleeve and continued running towards what looked like a large shopping mall.

Locke frowned. Glaurug was coming back around, presumably to give Locke another close-up beating. In your dreams. Locke thought. He waited for Glaurug to get close enough and then threw a single punch, directed at Glaurug's face. Locke's armor's arm had locked, making in stiff, his muscles tensed, his entire weight behind the one blow. He felt a satisfying 'thud' as it impacted. He used the momentum to spin himself around, leg extended for a kick to the chest. He had survived years of every horror a soldier could imagine, done what had quicklh been dismissed as impossible. He'd never full-on lost a fight in his life. He wasn't going to take any more s**t from this assassin.

For Locke, everything slowed down. It was a familiar sensation, something Kelly had once dubbed ORION Time. Each of the mini missiles came into focus and he knew that one of them hitting him above the chest, towards his unarmored head, might kill him. He danced around them, doing his best to predict their paths without his HUD. He was mostly successful, due to his enhanced reflexes. But there would be no dodging the blast of energy. He was thrown back once more, flying towards a tree. It splintered under the weight of his armor. One shard speared his shoulder, going clean through. He gritted his teeth and got back up. After a moment of disorientation, he found his target and raised his weapon once more.

Forge looked around and then sighed in submission. "Fine. Let's go." he held the door open for Aclyma. It wasn't exactly annoying, but it would be troublesome if she needed to get into the dorm while he was busy. He'd have to talk about the door to someone, preferably a headmaster, if the Institute had anything like that.

Cutter ran. He ran through the streets, ducking in and out of the alleys. He had to find somewhere to hunker down. There were probably hundreds of other mutants in the city. He ran with his gun out in front of him. The light slanting down to the streets was green, filtering through the overgrown canopy which had grown inside the city. He tried to stay as quiet as he could, years of guerrilla campaign training kicking in.

"Dutch, gun." Locke held out his arm. Dutch threw over his assault rifle. Locke caught it and started firing once more. His ammo counter clicked to zero. Locke ejected the clip, slammed a new one into place and continued firing. Without thinking the motion through, he pulled the pin on a grenade and threw it at at Glaurug.

Jack observed silently from a distance. He knew that these two were evenly matched. What he didn't know was if Locke would go through with the madness. He didn't seem the type to give up... or die.
Sliuril... he thought towards the direction where she had disappeared. Get down here.

(I'm not sure if this qualifies as 'cute' in your somewhat messed up mind.)

Solium growled as he almost slammed into the building. He reached his arm through the alley, but Sylvie was already too far away. "Get back here!" he growled in perfectly understandable English. "My Uncle will kill me!"

Cutter saw his chance and he ran. The rock-mutant had let him go when the other one had slammed into him. He didn't know where he was going, nor did he care as long as it was directly away from the two mutants who would probably rip him into pieces once they were done with each other.

(Honestly, all I could think about at this point was this.)

Locke coughed once as he saw Glaurug fly out. Blood splattered the inside of his visor. He growled in frustration. Locke had long ago learnt to banish physical discomfort from his mind, but he couldn't fight an enemy he couldn't see. An audible alarm was going off inside his helmet. His shields had been completely drained. He took off his helmet and threw it to a side. The boy was fast. Some part of him knew that he was being irrational. He knew Glaurug was a fellow soldier, that he'd made a decision. The same part told him that his fellow ORIONs, had they been alive, would have disapproved of what he was doing right now. None of that mattered. What mattered was that Glaurug was out of reach, Locke's armor was breached and his pistol was out of ammo.

Atriox barked orders in his language. Solium and Polous suddenly darted out from the trees. Solium ran straight towards Sylvie and Polous towards Kioiki. Atriox himself would take care of this boulder and then the human. He roared a challenge at them. They wouldn't find it easy to escape this time around.

Cutter growled and started shooting at the creature, to no avail. He knew that he was dead. And, quite suddenly, Atriox, backed up by seven hundred kilograms of muscle, slammed into the mutant, running as fast as he could. He wasn't going to let this thing devour his prey. Those rights were reserved for his pack members.

Locke rolled backwards, retrieved his helmet and locked it into place over his head. The ground in front of him exploded, sending him flying backwards. In seconds, he was back on his feet. His shields were at half and started recharging. He lifted his pistol and started unloading rounds at his opponent.

Forge looked around. "God, why didn't you wake me?" he asked Aclyma and went to open the door. "Seriously. Wake me whenever you need me. If a light sleeper at the best of times." He was definitely wide awake now. He looked at the schedule. Dinner. He'd make sure to attend, but he wanted to see the training grounds first. He wondered what sort of weapons these people packed.

Atriox growled. There was a howl up ahead. He gestured for his fellows to move towards it. Perhaps the trail wasn't as cold as he'd initially thought. His pack members were hungry and though they were not nearly as hungry as he knew they'd been in the past, but hungry. As Chief, it was his duty to see to their every need. Their prey would find it much harder to escape this time.

"Love." Locke mouthed. "Fine. You wanna go there, let's go there. I am an officer. Do you know what that means? It means that I love every man and woman under my command. And I have to be willing to send them to their death at a moment's notice. Do you know what that does to a man? No, I expect you don't. But, goddamn it, there is a difference between lives spent and lives wasted!" Locke shouted. "And you," he shouted, "being you, would not know that difference! You know your problem? You're used to getting your way, getting off the hook each and every time. I can see why being Concord's pet did that to you." he was close enough to grab Glaurug now, close enough to snap him in two if the mood had taken him. Still, his hands were behind his back. "Now I'm not asking you to regret your decisions."
There was a long pause.
"I'm asking you to pay for them."
He whipped out his pistol from his holster.

Forge opened his eyes. He wasn't entirely sure why he'd woken up. Some part of his brain was telling him that there were much more productive things to do rather than sleep. "Aclyma?" he asked. "You up?" he kept his voice low in case she was asleep, but it should've been easy enough for her to hear him if she was awake. Maybe he should just go an explore the place.
