The heavy cat wheezed with the effort of her run. Her swollen belly shook back and forth until she burst through a blueberry bush. "Shadedfur!" Her mew caused the small she-cat to poke her head curiously from under her bush. "Rosepetal! What are you doing out here, you can't be running!"

Shadedfur pulled herself free of the bush, her left leg now held off the ground. The longer the day went the worse it felt. Her limp was heavy when she met her panting sister and tried to sooth the pregnant queen with soft licks to her cheek. "You should go back, it's not safe to be out here on your own."

"But I'm not alone. Snowflank offered to help me find you, she wants you to come home too."

Relief washed over the queen and Rosepetal shoved into Snowflank with a quiet sob. "She is, she is a good cat. She's my best friend." The queen pulled back and murmured a soft apology.

Through her slightly stuffy nose Rosepetal caught the familiar scent of her sister. No amount of fragrant berries and flowers could disguise that particular scent from her. "S-she's close. Hurry!"

"Thank you, thank you so much." The queen's mew was desperate. She squeezed through the entrance, ignoring the little twigs that got caught in her pelt. Rosepetal sniffed the air, catching the scent of many cats, but only one that she cared about. "She must have headed to the berry patch to disguise her scent," she mewed to Snowflank.

The Queen's paw steps were sure, but lumbering from her large belly. "She's not a bad cat you know, she doesn't deserve to be sent away."

Shadedfur burrowed herself under a blackberry bush to rest. She'd leave the territory at nightfall, for now she needed to regain her strength. The small she-cat knew she wouldn't be able to hunt, especially not with her wound, so settled for crunching down a few berries.

Shadedfur made it all the way to the berry bushes before she stopped to rest. She'd have to leave the territory soon, it was no longer hers to roam. However, her leg was causing her more trouble then she'd admit. Her rough tongue ran over the deep gash in an attempt to clean it.

Rosepetal stood at the entrance to the camp, locked in place with grief. Shadedfur was not just her sister, but her best friend. She tried to catch water voles for her and she was happy to devour the skinny meager catches she was able to bring back. When the thought of kitting scared her Shadedfur would spend the night in the nursery with her.

When they were kits they got into all sorts of trouble together and would laugh about it for days. Was that all really gone? The pregnant queen moaned her grief, the sound loud and heart breaking.

"A clan run by cowards is not one I want to be apart of." She hissed, spittle covering Flintstar's face before the she-cat turned away. "This is no longer my home. May the next badger swallow you whole Flintstar." She touched her nose to Rosepetal's cheek and the pregnant queen yowled in dismay. "No, Shadedfur please don't go! Fruitclan can still be your home!"

The black she-cat limped towards the entrance still. "What about Ollie? What about me and my kits?"

Shadedfur glanced back. "You'll be safer here. Though not by much." And The warrior left the camp.

"Then perhaps Whiteleap wasn't the wrong choice. You were." Flintstar stepped up to her and Shadedfur shoved her nose into her leader's without a hint of backing down. "You do, in fact. Why should I follow you if you don't?"

The only distraction from Flintstar was the new deputy and her red eyes flashed at Whiteleap. "Then how about you prove yourself Whiteleap. Right now. Even with a wounded leg I could battle you into submission."

"Risked her life? Flintstar fell like a rain drenched rabbit during that fight. Not one claw mark on the badger was left by our fearless leader. Go back to your den you useless lump of fur." She hissed at Wolfpaw, her claws sliding out in warning. Crippled or not, Wolfpaw would not be spared.

Rosepetal was trying desperately to push Shadedfur back. "This is going too far. Please Shadedfur stop it."

The black she-cat shook her head and jumped over her sister, landing with ease despite her injury. "I will address you with respect when you've earned it. Now speak, why is Whiteleap your choice? Why do you favor the outsiders?!"
