Stargazer's POV

*Stargazer was completely taken off guard at realizing how bad Cryo's current condition was. She opens her mouth to say something in response, but hesitates. She dives into the water below and comes back up about a minute later with a large fish in her talons, and she tears off a little bit of meat for herself before tossing the rest in front of the sleep-deprived IceWing. She sits down next to him and folds her wings tightly for warmth.*

Nightmare: You're not a freak. In fact, for hundreds of years before the volcano erupted, all of the NightWings didn't have those powers, and nobody called them freaks. Stop telling yourself you're a freak. That goes for you too, Starfruit. You're the most unique, interesting RainWing I've ever met before, and your wings are amazing. The other RainWings should be jealous of them.

*Frosbite tilts his head in confusion at Moonseeker's sudden change in emotion. He looks curious.*

Frostbite: What's going through her head right now? Does she like me? Does she think I'm weird? I'll bet it's the second one; Normal IceWings don't whimper like frightened seal pups when confronted by a stranger. No wonder my sister says I'm a runt…

*Frostbite's wings droop a little bit, but he regains his normal, proud stance.*

Frostbite: No. You are an IceWing, Frostbite. You're as good an IceWing as any other one in your tribe. And IceWings shouldn't mope around like sad reindeer.

Blizzard: What's with the SkyWing? Is she embarrassed about something? She's probably glad I'm not a mindreader. I'm glad I'm not a mindreader! Being able to hear thoughts would be really confusing for me.

Nightmare, to Starfruit: You have a very… unusual method of defense. If it's possible, I'd like to know why you're so different from most RainWings I've met.

Stargazer's POV

*Stargazer finally remembers the mental map Cryo showed her and manages to find the cave he went in. She practically collapses on the ground because her wings are tired.*

Stargazer: Cryo! I-I'm here. Ow, my wings are sore…

Stargazer: I should've just used animus magic to find him. That would've been much faster and easier.

Stargazer: W-what are you doing… in here?

Axolotl/Stingray's POV

*Axolotl was now laying down in her room, reading The Animus Histories. Stingray was in the library, working on one of his stories. He was having a hard time coming up with what to write next, and he was curious as to what was happening back on the beach. He set down his inkwell and went to Axolotl's room.*

Stingray: Axolotl? I'm just letting you know that I'm going back to the beach, okay? I'll tell your brother to keep an eye on you.

Axolotl: Yeah, that's fine.

Stingray, walking off: Don't sneak out while I'm gone.

Axolotl, rolling her eyes I won't, Stingray.

*Corvid flares his wings in annoyance at Moonseeker's comment on NightWings and snarls. Nightmare just narrows his eyes a bit, and Blizzard chuckles to himself, amused.*

Frostbite: Ha! Those NightWings deserve to hear that! She's not wrong, they're definitely annoying. And yet, I have feelings for Stargazer… I think? Ugh, emotions are so unnecessarily confusing.

Corvid: Hey! NightWings aren't dumb or boring! You SkyWings can't read minds or see the future. We're probably some of the coolest dragons on Pyrrhia, right? *He turns to Nightmare, & the two dragons stare at each other for a few moments.*

Nightmare: Corvid, each tribe has its own specialties and unique traits. No tribe is superior to the others. Keep in mind, your own mother was a SkyWing, so you don't have any reason to mock SkyWings. Understood?

Corvid: S-sorry father, I got too excited.

Nightmare: It's alright.

Blizzard, to Starfruit: You look nothing like a SilkWing, though.

Blizzard: Why are Corvid and Nightmare staring at each other? Can NightWings with the ability to read minds communicate by thinking at each other?

Nightmare: Maybe your parents or grandparents were from two different tribes. My parents are- …were NightWings, but I got SkyWing DNA from my grandfather, who passed it to my mother, who passed it to me. That's why my wings are so big, even compared to my already enormous size. In fact, maybe you had a NightWing parent and a SkyWing parent, just like my grandparents were.

Corvid: Well, then no wonder I'm so much more NightWing-ish than SkyWing-ish! My sister must've gotten the dominant SkyWing traits.

Nightmare: Precisely. And as for mind-reading, that's an ability exclusively for NightWings, and we get it from hatching under at least one full moon. One moon gives prophecy or mindreading, two gives both, & three makes the first two stronger. You must've hatched under one, because I don't think you're a prophet.

Nightmare: Perhaps it was too cloudy on your hatching day. I honestly can't think of another explanation. You look a lot like most other NightWings I've seen, but you may have IceWing DNA. I can't see how that would keep you from having NightWing powers…

Blizzard: What are you talking about? She looks almost nothing like an IceWing!

Nightmare, with smoke rising from his nostrils: What did I do?! *He snarls in frustration, but calms himself down a bit before picking up the fighting dragons and putting them down in two different spots. He stretches his wing between them like a wall to keep them from fighting. Frostbite seems uneasy about these two dragons, but Blizzard just stares at them blankly. Nightmare turns to Moonseeker after giving Starfruit a gentle pat on the head.* Literally what did I do to deserve you slapping me?

*Blizzard flinches in surprise, both at realizing Moonseeker can read minds, and at Starfruit's sudden awakening. Frostbite does the same, except he nearly falls over. Nightmare & Corvid both seem unsurprised by Moonseeker's response, but Corvid backs up from Starfruit as if she were a dead fish that had suddenly started flopping around again.*

Blizzard: Y-you're a mindreader?

Nightmare: Of course. Look at the scales behind her eyes. Silver teardrops, indicating she hatched under at least 1 full moon. *He points to his teardrop scales.* Same with mine, except I hatched under three. Do you IceWings know nothing about NightWing powers?

*Corvid snickers at the look of annoyance on Blizzard's face. Nightmare carefully scoops up Starfruit in one talon, and uses his other to help her stand back up. He seems to find her unnaturally large wingspan interesting.*

Nightmare, carefully holding one of her wings: Well, you're a peculiar little RainWing. What's your name, dragonet?

Autumn's POV

*Autumn smelled smoke coming from the beach she had just left and started to head back. Her wings were tired, but she could rest later.*

Frostbite: I-I- I wasn't going to make fun of your name! It's- It's a very n-nice name, in fact! *Frostbite pulls his arm back quickly & backs up with his wings flaring defensively. He looks like he thinks that Moonseeker is a potential threat. Blizzard was a bit startled by the statement that she "could kill all of them right now if she wanted to" & the icicles on his tail bristle up.*

Blizzard: Second chance? What did we do to take a first chance?! Why is she so… violent?

Frostbite, surprised: Agh!!

*Nightmare & Blizzard back up nervously at the sight of the fire. Frostbite panics & almost immediately runs in the opposite direction, tripping over one of his talons and landing face down in the sand.*

Nightmare: Wh-what-? *Nightmare unfurls his wings, making sure to do so slowly enough that he doesn't blow everyone away with a gust of wind. He stares at StarFruit like he's... analyzing her, but keeps his distance. Blizzard quickly finishes eating his fish, and he runs over to Frostbite to help him get up. He blows frostbreath at the fire to try to put it out.*

Axolotl's/Stingray's POV

*The two SeaWings were finally back at the Deep Palace, & two healers were checking out Axolotl's scratches. One of them carefully grabs one of her wings to check it over.*

Healer 1: Hmm... It's not that serious, but we should probably bandage the bigger ones, just for good measure. *She looks at Stingray.* How did she get so scratched up?

Stingray: I don't know. I just found her standing on a beach, and she was just covered in little scrapes. Axolotl, do you remember how you got those cuts?

Axolotl, unsure: Uhhh, I think I got cut on some coral shards while I was swimming? I don't remember really well, to be honest.

Healer 2: Well, I can understand that. Coral can be very sharp when it's broken. Your brother came here yesterday with a scratch from broken coral.

Axolotl, sitting up: Eel did? Is he okay?

Healer 2, wrapping something on Axolotl's arm: Yes, he's fine. It was a minor cut, nothing serious. ...This scratch on your arm seems like it's the worst one. Keep it bandaged for a few days while it heals, okay?

Healer 1: She's also got bruises all over her. Are you sure that coral did this?

*Axolotl hesitates for a moment.*

Axolotl: ...W-well, the bruises came from a fall. But I'm fine, really!

Stargazer's POV

*Stargazer is still trying to find Cryo, and she's been looking for hours now.*

*Frostbite is a bit startled by StarFruit touching tails with him, causing him to flick his tail away instinctively. Blizzard momentarily stares at Snowstroller like he's trying to figure something out, then readjusts his focus back to the water. He dives in and comes back up with a bass in his talons.*

Frostbite: ...I can honestly understand how that might feel. I mean, my sister doesn't really like me because she says I'm... *He starts talking in a snobbish tone of voice.* "Too soft to be a real IceWing. Not like me, I'm so perfect and popular just because I'm ranked a spot higher than my brother!"

Blizzard, giggling: Ha! You sound like my cousin Thresher! He thinks he's so cool just because he's got SeaWing DNA, and I'm like "Do you think I care that you can breathe underwater? At least I don't live in the Kingdom of the Sea." *Blizzard giggles a little bit, and Frostbite, smiling, has to hold back his laughter.*

*Frostbite giggles a little at the fact that this RainWing doesn't seem to care that she's profusely bleeding. He brushes the ice off of StarFruit's tail before turning to Snowstroller.*

Frostbite: You seem shy for a NightWing. You remind me of this dragonet I saw in the Rainforest once. *He chuckles a bit before reminding himself that IceWings aren't supposed to be this cheerful.*

Blizzard: I don't recognize the IceWing that just flew off. Maybe he was raised elsewhere? *He realizes he's thinking out loud and shuts his mouth before walking to the cliff, trying to spot some fish to eat.*

*Frostbite notices Freezer and recognizes him from earlier. He approaches Freezer almost immediately when he notices that he's choking and tries to smack him in the back to dislodge anything stuck in his throat.*

Frostbite: You! Weren't- Weren't you with the, uh, weird SkyWing a few hours ago?

Blizzard, seeing him: Yeah, he was. Oh, and we never got your name. What is it?

Frostbite: Did Blizzard even notice that he was choking, or is he just ignoring it?

Corvid: Oh hey, Freezer. *He quickly goes back to talking to Nightmare.*

*Autumn decides to try to go look for the RainWing that snuck up on her the day before, and she quietly flies off and heads towards the rainforest. She also loves looking at all the flora there.*

Blizzard: Interesting.

Frostbite, rubbing his neck: I-I mean, maybe it's just me. IceWings, uh, aren't exactly easy to tell apart by color.

Autumn's POV

*Autumn was now flying over the ruins of the Summer Palace. She sighs at the thought of how beautiful it must have been when it was newly built. She notices a bunch of dragons she's never seen before on the beach with Frostbite, Blizzard, & a few others. She dives down to get a closer look and then nearly falls out of the sky at the sight of a gigantic NightWing.*

Autumn: Woah! Who is that?! They're huge! I should go in for a closer look, but stay out of sight.

*Autumn dives onto a rocky cliff and stares at the dragons below her. The huge NightWing flinches when she lands, almost as if he heard her, & she steps back quietly.*

Axolotl's POV

*Axolotl and Stingray were nearly to the Deep Palace, and were currently taking a short break in a coral reef. The only reason they weren't already back is because Axolotl kept stopping to look at things like sea otters and turtles.*
