Another one of my single-egg nests has hatched. This girl was born:

Female Coatl
Green Clown / Red Eye Spots / Banana Underbelly

Grown up:

She'd make a decent Christmas derg, no? Maybe? Anyone?

Anyway, she's up for adoption, to a person who'll either keep her as a christmas derg, or just someone who won't exalt her as soon as she grows up.

Edit:
She's taken~

@Abby
I mean, obviously not everyone should charge $10/1h. A few years ago the least amount of time I took on a drawing was 6 hours - and sure, I loved my art. It was good, anatomically correct, with nice standard manga/anime style that was really popular. Would I charge $60-$180 for it? Would I expect someone to PAY that much? HECK NAH! You do have to find your golden mean in pricing. If you take too long on your art, you should probably settle on $5-8/1h. If you are reasonably fast but your art is, eh... you should also think of how much to drop your hourly rate to accommodate to your customers.

@Romania
Gem to treasure ratio is anywhere between 550-750t : 1 gem, so 55k-75k treasure = $1.

Like I said, people who underprice stuff are mostly children who don't know what goes into making a good piece of art, or those weird people who say "i drew dis by hand so i put moar efort then u wit ur digital art lol". Ignore them, go ahead with your prices with confidence. State in the rules "if you don't like my prices, don't comment at all".

@Rabou
I've always come out of the "I will price myself low so that people buy my art!" camp, but holy geez, it's such a wrong way to go about things. Not only YOU don't feel satisfied, but also often you make your art halfheartedly and the buyer isn't happy with it either. That, or in my case, I just don't finish my commissions when I feel the price is not worth my time and effort. =/ Besides: it's better to make one kick-butt piece a month and earn a solid amount than get 20 pent up commissions that you can't conceivably finish in a timely manner and get the same amount of cash for them.

@Abby
See, most deviantart users are children, too. They don't have a reliable way of getting points, so they think that "omg but 10 points is soooo much!".

Most people who underprice themselves on DA are people from the poorer countries, where your hourly wage is less than $5 - of course for them $5/1h sounds reasonable, and asking for the standard rate of $10/1h that most beginning hobby artists adopt as theirs, seems way too high.

That or they, too, are of the "I have to be commissioned no matter what, even if I undersell myself!" mindset. They are not only hurting themselves, but the whole community. I agree though - art world is broken this way.

@Abby
No. People on FR aren't generous.

They are reasonable.

And while of course there are some people (mostly spoiled children coming from other social-oriented sites) who undervalue art, most people simply understand what art should be worth.

I mean, come on, I sell my art at around $35-100 (or less if sketches/chibs/blah...), and here on PH I can't even count on getting 300 nuggets. On FR people will actually easily offer around ~2.5m treasure for my art, which is about the equivalent of $35.

@Twin
Now, the golden rule to pricing your art:
Always start higher than what people tell you to price it! If you still get customers: Great! If you don't, then, and only then, lower your prices. I would say it would be safe to start by asking for 200k for your art - if you don't get any interest within 3 days of bumping - lower it to 150k. And try to be patient. :>

My argument for "they are not connected" is this: look at those close-ups. The female's ears are in a completely different spot than the male's, and both are not connected to either frill when you look at it closely and compare.

Scribbles is female (according to wiki), Swipp is male.

I don't know what's your confusion about the glimmer and the frills? Both the frills are completely separate from Fae's ears as far as I can tell. ._.

Speaking of Faes...

How do you suppose they eat? I mean, they don't have a mouth... Look at any picture of Fae dragons available... The creepy buggers. D:

It is, indeed, her neck.
That's one of the reasons why I keep saying Faes are very poorly drawn. They look broken. XD

GUYS.

Which of these dragons do you, personally, like the most: last page of my lair.

I want to train one or two pretty dragons to level 25 and sell them - so I kept buying relatively pretty, relatively cheap fodder dragons... and I kinda got stuck with these 5 4.

The other 3 or 4 I will either train to 8-9 and exalt, or, if someone wants to have them, I can part with them for 7.5k treasure (generally less than I had bought them for).

Icicle - | | |
Incubore - | Exalted

Okay.

I've had these two girls since week one of my FR life. But I've never found a mate for either of them.

Thus I've decided. Lore-wise, they are going to be mated to each other.
(ノ°ヮ°)ノ*:・゚°.

The girls in question:

Whenever I gather enough treasure, I will hold a small writing contest; I want some fluff to put in their info sections. So for those who can write moderately well and are short on treasure, be on a lookout. `w´)/

@Eri
Thanks!

As to your shop draft, I can only point out two tiny things to fix, both in this sentence:

"Now we're reasonable dragons, we're not going to rip through your horde and take everything"

How I'd fix it:
"Now, we're reasonable dragons, we're not going to rip through your hoard and take everything"

Other than that, I think it's a great draft, and the pricing seems reasonable - though personally I'd raise the prices between level 17 and 20 even more, since it is a really tedious task to level 'em then.

Good luck!

@SpicyPants
It is super cool! I like vibrant colors like that, and the pie/paint really looks like paint splotches. o;

@Eri
Those prices you've listed might be a little too cheap, considering that level 25 dragons usually go for around 300-350k treasure in the AH (and your service as is would cost 110k total to train a dragon to 25). Perhaps you should raise the prices a smidgen, so that the total comes to around 200-250k. Still cheaper than AH prices, but you'll be better rewarded for your hard work.

Unless you mean that getting a dragon from level 11 to 12 would be 4k, from 12 to 13 - 6k and so on; then getting to 25 would be a scary 680k. xD;;

_________
Edit:
Omg, I've found this dragon while browsing the AH, and it's such an eyesore, but I love it so much you don't even know (not getting it though, I already have too many dragons):

My white/white/X Cherub/Seraph Skydancer nest has hatched. One of the boys went to Rabou, the other one is for sale / adoption!

Edit: Both boys went to Rabou. ;v;

Right, doing ten things at the same time that each require my full attention is not helping. I'll edit in a second.

I have this boy with Glimmer, if you'd like a temporary mate for your Mirror (until you save up / get a more fitting derg). Since he's a Iri/Facet, you'll most likely get Pie/Paint hatchlings most the time.

I'm gonna have two White/White/greyscale Cherub/Seraph Skydancer hatchlings tomorrow if you're interested and Abby's stays unavailable. Mine are going to have either Gembond or (unlikely) Circuit tert, but a tert removal scroll is just 10k and the hatchling I could let you have for free if you'd like. Can't help it if there are two females though. ^ ^;

Speaking of spines, I just bought this boy a few minutes ago:

I am in love with him, even though he's a double basic. I might give him peregrine secondary, eventually, but he's so pretty being this plain.
