All Neko saw was the knife and the hand. When he reached for her shoulder, she squeezed her eyes shut and waited for the pain. When it didn't come, she cautiously opened one eye.

At least for now. . .What is that supposed to mean?

She looked into his eyes, at the obvious pleading. Why was he asking her? He was definitely set above her, so why? She would do what he asked regardless, as even she was surprised at her act of rebellion.

"Of c-course I'll go with y-you, if that's w-what you"

She swallowed

Her eyes were as large a teacups as she slowly lifted her hand to rest it on Tsuji's. She dared not move her lips, but tried to convey the message.

Neko felt the first ever spark of anger she had ever felt in her life. The shadow loomed in her mind, whispering.

How dare they tell you where you are going? Don't let them boss you like this!

Horrified at the thought, Neko shoved the evil thing away to the deepest corners of her mind.

"I- I really shouldn't be talking to you. I-I can't be talking to you! I n-need to g-go!"

Her voice cracked at the end, fear flaring up like a raging torrent of fire. She got up, starting to back towards the wall. She swallowed hard, her hands shaking so much she couldn't hold them still. She didn't even hear what Tsuji and Nobu said afterwards.

Neko had stared at the newcomers as they entered, one thought filling her brain as it always did when people payed attention to her.

After the shock had faded a bit, she realized that he -Nobu?- had spoken to her.

Neko sighed, looking up at Tsuji's face. She squinted at him.

"Why are you. . . Talking to me so much? I can't help you anymore than I already have, unless. . . Are you tired?"

She was trying to think of ways to make sure he was as good as he could be, because all this interaction was making her very uncomfortable.

~~Argh I'm so bad at this~~

Eclipse was soaring just above the clouds, the wind flaring in his face as he thought. He didn't at all feel bad for what he was supposed to do, just exited to be filling out orders. He knew what it would do, but still. . . He grew his wings to more than twice as big, and shot into space. He floated towards the moon, shrinking his wings back to normal. Claws hitting the moon, he began to contemplate.

Neko wasn't sure she believed him, but then after a moment, it hit her. He had no reason to lie. None at all.

It felt like Neko's whole world had flipped upside down to stand on its head. Her eyes widened and she sat back, stunned. If someone had killed her right then, she wouldn't have noticed a thing.

"I can't believe it."

Her voice was small. Almost not there.

"This whole time, I've thought- nobody was around to tell me- I had no-one. No-one but-"

Tears filled her eyes.

"No one but Koneko. I left her. I'm a terrible person!"

She rested her head in her hands and tried to stop herself from crying. after a moment, she said

"We can go get her in the morning- When you're better, OK?"
