Her usually ferocious gaze was glazed over, be it by the tom's gentle words or the sedation of the poppy seeds. "But the camp walls should be fortified with all the predators in our territory recently." Her jaws opened in a large yawn. "The badger's body should be taken care of before it attracts scavengers, the boarder along the berry patches hasn't been properly patrolled in days. Rosepetal's kits are due any day so the apprentices should soften her nest."

"Cats without direction get hurt... Cats without..." Her eyes slowly closed against her will. "Cats without order... Die..." Her words trailed off softly before she fell into a poppy induced slumber.

The she-cat huffed but an amused purr rose in her throat. "Thanks." The small seeds were lapped up and crunched between her teeth. "Do you think Whiteleap is the right cat to be deputy? He's kind and loyal, I don't doubt that. But it takes more than that to take on leadership." Shadedfur rested her chin on her paws and closed her eyes. "There are many things that need to be done, and I don't think any of them are being taken care of."

Shadedfur rested in the nest, rolling onto her side to give Firelight room to see the wound. The badger's claw had raked down her inner thigh to leave a long, deep gash. It would take time to heal and it was clearly painful, but aside from the subtle tang of the start of infection the wound would cause no lasting problems.

The fur on her spine rose as a shudder of pain rippled through her spine. The pulp burned and the pressure on her leg was agony after the long day. "If I take the seeds will you keep it secret?" She asked in a low hiss.

	Rosepetal waddled in through the entrance first and booked it straight to the nursery to check on little Ollie. Shadedfur took a moment to sit outside the entrance and lick herself clean. The badgers blood was pretty much gone, but the scent still clung to her fur unpleasantly. [Read more]

"Right, let's go. Unless you need a rest Rosepetal?" Her sister shook her head. "I can rest in my nest when we get home Shadedfur." The two cats nuzzled noses a few moments before they started heading back to camp.

The trek was difficult for them both, Rosepetal huffing from the extra weight and Shadedfur doing her best not to limp. In fact when they reached sight of camp she forced her paw down to the ground in a stubborn rejection of her pain, walking smoothly even if she had to grit her teeth to do so.

"Get off me you big lug, let's get you home." The sisters parted, both of them having a little difficulty standing on their own paws and leaned against each other for support. Shadedfur couldn't call Fruitclan 'home,' but she would live there for her sister's sake.

"Let's get going before I can't make the trip," Shadedfur grunted, holding her hind leg up against her body.

"I gave her a chance to explain herself, and she told me to leave." But as Snowflank continued the small she-cat sat down, looking down at her paws. Her family would need her, should she really trust the clan to properly care for her sister's kits? And Ollie.... Would they look for his home? and if it couldn't be found who would train him? Another outsider no doubt.

"Fine. But if I'm chased away then you have to let this go until your kits are fit to travel. Deal?" A loud purr burst from the queens chest and soon enough the sisters were tumbling onto the ground with soft grunts. "Hey hey! Get off a me, you're too heavy."

"You don't need me," she mewed curtly. "Whiteleap can obviously take care of all your needs." However, when she looked at Rosepetal her ears drooped. The queen looked about ready to crumble to the forest floor.

"Rosepetal, I killed a badger. I leaped onto it's face to keep it from taking more of Flintstar's lives. I wasn't made deputy, I wasn't made a mentor, for Starclan sake I wasn't even given a thank you! If that isn't enough to impress your leader then I don't know what else I could do! Bring back a dog for fresh kill?" She added sarcastically.
