(Accepted. Feeling any better?)

"Okay! Great! Where are we going and why did you have to do that?" Felix asked.

Locus sighed as he waited for the creature to come back around. He supposed there were worse ways to die. He closed his eyes and focused, though he wasn't sure what he was focusing on. Slowly, he moved his arm. It obeyed... but something was wrong. It didn't feel right. He was vaguely aware that he was standing up, not drifting. He opened his eyes again. He was still underwater. He tried to recall what Sliuril had said and it slowly dawned on him. "Oh, wow. That's genius." he muttered to himself. "I wonder how it works..." he tried to imagine himself shooting to the surface. Nothing happened. "Apparently not like that." he said to himself. He closed his eyes again and concentrated on what he knew was real. The fact that he was standing, trapped, in the middle of a destroyed village and not at the bottom of the ocean, fighting this monster. He felt the illusion start to slip, the feeling of standing become more pronounced.

(Whoa. Sounds nasty. Again, get better soon. And trust me, I can wait until you're better until your next post if you don't feel up to it.)

Felix swore as Faith grabbed him. "N-NO! NO! AWAY FROM THE TEETH. OTHER WAY. DOWN. PUT ME DOWN. NOW." he shouted, trying to maintain some semblance of calm and failing miserably. He took a deep breath. "WHERE THE HELL ARE WE GOING?" he yelled.

(That's fine. I hope you get better quickly.)

"Who's Copper? And why do you swear?" Felix asked, looking around. "More attention to the first question, if you don't mind. Damn, this place is nice." he said. "Bit... how do I explain it... empty? Seems a bit unnecessarily large."

Don't get it, but I'm sure there's some base.

To fight students paying attention, we created texting under the table.

"Ah. Okay." Felix said.

Locus pushed away from the creature, leaving behind a sizeable hole in it's back, about half as deep as he was tall. He sacrificed some oxygen to put some distance between himself and the creature, as he doubted he'd done much more than annoy it. Still, he could hope he'd hurt it enough to ward it off. Otherwise, he hoped his death was quick because he was flat out of ideas.

"What does an access panel look like in a place like this?" Felix asked, looking around.

Sarge, Preston, Haggard and Sweetwater aimed down their sights.
"Who's that?" Preston asked.
"Kirelenko. A HVT if I ever saw one." Sarge said. He called it in.
"Where's our guy?"
"Look." Sweetwater said.
Two guards had dragged a man in front of the HVT who was pointing a pistol at his head. He fired once and their contact fell backwards.
"Damn it." Haggard muttered.
"Okay, we're done here." Sarge said. "Mark up a failure and lets get back to base."

"Why me?" Locus asked himself. He activated his thrusters so he was heading straight towards the creature, like a torpedo. At the last moment, he angled himself so that he sailed over it, its back rushing past just a few inches from him. He bought his knife down as hard as he could in the creature's back and almost dislocated his shoulder as his direction changed. Once he was sure that the was sure the knife was in up to the hilt, he planted his feet on the creature's back and fired his thrusters, hoping that they might damage the Leviathan.

"Locus? Traumatised? That's new. What happened?" Felix asked, dismounting.

Locus had expended any energy he had left. His arms burned and his legs complained with every kick. He stopped struggling and just let himself drift, while he wondered about his next move. It had something of a calming effect. He could see his oxygen levels decreasing. It didn't seem that he'd ever be able to get to the surface with it. So he may as well use it some other way. He checked the fuel in his thrusters. If he channelled his oxygen to flow through them as well, he might get to waters shallow enough to allow his suit to start transmitting a distress signal.
He started making the necessary modifications.

(I think you need to start calling him Locus instead of Locke.)

Locus opened his eyes. The darkness was absolute. He tried moving his arms. The movement was sluggish. Interesting.
"Hello?" he asked. Nothing. He turned his armour's torch on. It took him a few seconds to realise where he was and he spared another few to give silent thanks to his armour's self-contained oxygen system which, if he remembered correctly, had been useless not too long ago. He knew swimming in his armour would be damn near impossible, but he decided he was going to do it anyway. With that, he kicked off and started pushing himself upwards, painful inch by painful inch.

"Errr... okay." Felix said getting on. "What exactly are we retrieving?"

"In here!" Felix called out.

"While I'm not denying that that sucked, I'm sure you can come up with something better." Locus said as soon as he caught his breath. "How many times have I died so far?" he asked, feeling the need to cock and eyebrow but doubting he'd be able to do it without passing out.

Redford crouched at the back of the group, keeping rear watch.
"Hey, Sarge. Are you sure our contact will be here?" Preston asked. "Yeah, if HQ didn't f**k with the ol' intel!" he barked.
"What are the chances of that?" Marlowe turned to Haggard. "I can't believe you're leading us through another minefield Haggard."
"You all are some stupid people." the explosives expert said. "How long until the rendezvous?"
"Five minutes."
"I'll have us there in three." Haggard muttered, cutting the last of the fence and stepping into the minefield, gesturing for the others to follow him.

Locus's vision tunnelled. His thoughts were in disarray. His lungs were trying to find non-existent oxygen.

Felix looked around."So." he muttered to himself and sat down heavily on a chair. He activated his distress beacon. With that done, he sat down and closed his eyes, waiting for the rescue party.

Locus felt the air leave his lungs. He supposed the next couple of moments would get progressively more painful. She was already pushing him to the brink. Not able to move or talk, he conjured up a mental image of every insult he could think of and hoped she was reading his mind.

"It's hard to take a complement on face value when the person issuing it just put a dozen swords in you." he muttered. "I think throwing me off a cliff or cutting my supply of oxygen and watching me asphyxiate would be nice. Might even spare you my smart-a** comments."

He gave a cry of pain, feeling each sword pass through him, but tried to turn it into a laugh. "I like it." he seemed slightly breathless. "Very... ve-very creative." he groaned. "Y-you're gonna need to teach me how to do that some day." he said, head hanging. He supposed it was time for a non-sequitur. "I know it's not proper to ask a woman her age, but I never did catch how old you were."

"I could hazard a guess." Locus gasped, breathing heavily. "What next, dear torturer?" he didn't feel in the taunting mood, but like hell if he was going to let her think for a second that it was having any permanent effect on him.

Felix bolted the door, several Balvarines scratching at the other side. Great, they were contained. The slight drawback was that they were contained on the bridge of the ship. "Err... Locus? I'm gonna be a while. You're going to have to find your own way back." he said over the radio.

Locus received the message. If he had had a wall handy, he would have banged his head. "You know what it's like to have an incompetent teammate?" he said, wincing as his entire body started aching slightly.

Locus forced himself to calm down, a mental exercise he'd repeated several times, more or less every day of his life. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. He was no stranger to pain, but had never experienced torture. He could could feel the flesh bubbling, as well as the invasive presence in his brain. He wanted to cry out, but a small part at the back of his mind told him that it wouldn't do him any good.
"Of course he's coming." Locus said, more to prove than he could still speak without his voice breaking than to confirm Sliuril's suspicions.
The cycle restarted as she restored his arm. "I'm interested in what you'll do next. He'll be here in a minute or so. Are you going to kill me?" he asked. He almost blacked out for a moment, but mentally slapped himself. "They didn't put up much of a fight, you know that? The last few were resigned to death, they didn't even hope to live."
Pain, his mind seemed to cry out.
Ignore it.
"Hey, who else is in your little ship?" he growled, closing his eyes. A soft gasp escaped his lips as the fire burned deeper, melting muscle.

Quite suddenly, a red light pinged on on the inside of Locus's HUD, the prearranged signal from Felix. He smiled. "Okay. Try this. I killed them all. Donut, Tucker and Grif went with a grenade, Carolina, Dutch and Glaurug with a shotgun and Soren and Locke with a sniper. Washington went with the mines, Simmons with the rigged explosives while the idiot made it out." he said. "Satisfied?"
