Aethling's name and/or nicknames/titles:
Niyol of the Blessed Wings
Title: He Who Flies Above it All

Personality/Info:
Haughty, Arrogant, Prideful. Even without speaking a word, Niyol carries around with him a presence of regality and aloofness as if he views himself better than everyone else. And for the most part, that is how he acts. His tongue is silver sharp and he never holds anything back, speaking his mind bluntly. He considers himself better than everyone and will let others know about it. He is above worldly matters and his title of He Who Flies Above it All is not just a moniker earned by his flight prowess but for his holier than thou attitude
It's not all negatives, however, as Niyol is politically savvy. He knows what to say and when to say it, swaying people's opinions at a dime though he doesn't make any attempt to mask his scummy nature. He is adept at reading people and making deals with them based of his personal observations, making him a powerful asset in peacetalks and negotiations.
There seems to be something else lurking under the surface however. Perhaps Niyol is different from what others say. But then again, aren't rumours only the projection of what others want to see and not who they really are?

Member of which Court:
Mistress Selyne

Aethling's Appearance:
Niyol is a young man standing at a respectable 5'10 (178) with platinum silver dyed hair. He looks much younger than he actually is, sharp facial features and carefully applied makeup giving off a air of youthful cockiness. Some would even say that he looks beautiful, discarding more conventional complements in favour of a feminine grace. He keeps his image carefully curated, dark eyeliner sharpening his narrow cold grey eyes, slicked back hair never growing out too long. He is surprisingly fit for someone who's main role is in discussions and politics, toned arms and slim figure cutting out a powerful figure despite how delicate his features can be. However fit he is, Niyol is alarmingly light. It is almost concerning how easy it is for others to pick him up, as if any weight that he possesses is only an illusion. Perhaps the only weight he even has in muscles that keep up the facade of delicate strength. For a member of the Selynian court, Niyol dresses much like someone from Maestro Midnio, all dark colours as he's wrapped in mystery fitting for a publicly hated figure.

Backstory:
Everyone knows that there's a member of the Blessed Wings who can fly.
Niyol is not that person.

Born into a subfamily that almost religiously worshiped the ability to fly, Niyol was brought up as a proxy, a fake to draw attention away from his younger brother who took to the skies like the Goddess they worshiped. He was taught every way to make others hate him, to be arrogant and unlikable just to spin a whole narrative that starred him as the villain and his brother as the hero all so that the family could move up in court. He learned to fly, learned to simulate rushing across the skies and dipping past the clouds to dance among his element. He learned to starve himself and bleed numbers onto the ground, pouring out sweat and tears into his facade as he broke his own tender heart again and again until he had none left. He stepped away from the weapons rack and trained his tongue, his verbal lashings as deadly and accurate as a gunshot, aiming straight and true as he ruined his own reputation. Whispers speak of Niyol locking his brother away, jealousy burning in his blood at someone younger than him being better at flying than him, that Niyol had abused his position as a flyer to bully his way up in court. Whispers don't ever speak of the grudging love Niyol still has for his family as he continues to play his part

Weapon of Choice:
While he is proficient in all types of weapons, he is most often seen wearing a pair of kris daggers by his waist
He is most comfortable with long ranged weaponry, particularly a sniper rifle or bow

Other:
Perhaps the worst rumour surrounding Niyol is that he has grown arrogant to the point of dabbling in the petrified arts, dulling anyone who dares oppose him

Trigger Warning: More body horror, we love that

NO, no no no no nonononononononoo

San could only watch on in horror, helpless as he was dangled by his scruff before the view as one by one people were taken in and toyed with, hands wandering over thrashing restrained bodies and red dying mockingly white gloves a pale pink before it deepened under the aggressive florescent lights. He had tried to turn his head away the moment the crunch of bones and wheezing death knell of the damned sank into their bodies but a firm hand jerked his head back to the show, forcing his eyes to take in the bloody delight that danced over deranged eyes. Sharp nails dug into his skin, keeping his head a fixed as skin was split open and limbs were twisted into macabre displays that had his stomach rolling. His eyes burned and if he still had the ability to, he would undoubtedly be sobbing and pleading for them to stop, to hurt him instead, to simply shed tears for the broken and the lost.

When the final screams finally petered off and their prone bodies left to rot, the nails finally released their hold on his face. "I think that's enough fun for one day~" A sickening voice cooed, the same voice having read off names like it was all just an game, mimicking the roll calls that he had once been forced to do. "What wonderful new toys we've acquired! Let's play again tomorrow~" She made to leave before her whole body brightened as if remembering something suddenly. "Oh right! For being such a good kitty, we just have to reward you somehow." So transfixed was he on the painted red walls that San didn't notice the woman approaching him before a needle was carelessly jammed into his chest and he could feel his body twist, attempting to reject whatever serum was being pushed into him.

He couldn't even catch himself as the hold on his scruff was released, slamming into the ground with a wet splat and convulsing limbs. A pool of brackish red grew under his head as his neck snapped in two places, twisting his gaze until it stared blankly at the bloody masterpiece that comprised of unnatural freaks. It pained his slowing heart, the dull thump soft and painless for the first time in a long long while. Still, it was tugged at when San took a final look at the mangled menagerie. He only wanted to protect them, to shield them from the pain and the torture as much as he could, upholding a dying wish that he cradled close to his still chest.

Ah, but who did he even promise it to?

It didn't matter

He'd see them soon enough

A full bodied scream was wrenched out of him as San scrambled uselessly to escape the sudden flood of searing pain, a sensation he hadn't felt ever since he had twisted the final neck of a familiar face, pins and needles ripping him apart from the inside out. Paws that had begun to loose its inky fur and elongate into pseudo fingers clawed as his neck where it felt like lava was trapped in, rivers of liquid that housed more drugs than blood dripping into the still growing pool under his matted shedding fur. The age old scar that wrapped around his throat like a morbid mockery of a choker stung as he writhed on the floor, bones breaking and limbs twisting. His paws were wrenched away from their task as his shoulders popped, throwing his left paw out to the side and cracking as the elbow hyper-extended. His rib-cage felt like it was being crushed up and ground up into dust as his organs fought for space, pushing blood vessels to the side.

He gurgled, liquid spilling out of his mouth and clogging his throat as San felt the telltale snap of his spine realigning itself into a posture better suited to bipedal movement, his hips fracturing before reconstructing themselves to better fit his growing legs and reassemble his anatomy. Bloody tears tracked down his sharp cheekbones, a mocking imitation of normalcy which dripped off black dyed bone as his eyes rolled backwards and darkness reached her hand out to take his own. One final act of mercy as San drowned under the drugs and pain

❅───✧❅ Lyn ❅✧───❅

Lyn's jaw dropped but he quickly picked it back up and sprinted to catch up. He was definitely at a disadvantage, his larger body making navigating the cramped tunnels much more difficult. The spectres, much more active at night when the storms brew, screeched and cackled as they point out different passages to take and shortcuts. But even with supernatural aide, the sheer difference of size could t be overcome and Frost was the first one to escape the winding caverns, beating Lyn by a good few wingbeats

●∘◦❀ Pitaya ❀◦∘●

It was nice, being alone in the dark. Pitaya had fumbled his way back to his nest, curling up and letting the soothing emptiness slowly lull him to sleep but he was roughly shaken out of it when Aether burst into his dorm. The sudden vibrations of heavy footsteps had him reeling back in blind panic as shaking images flashed before his eyes. Aether's arrival was heralded with a bang, quite literally as Pitaya once again had flinched so violently, he fell out of the nest. Blinking at where Aether was, he could hear Mother Earth wrapping him up in her warm embrace once again, whispering comfort into his scales as he nodded slowly. "Oh... I see... Well not literally, but you get the idea. What happened?"
❅───✧❅ Lyn ❅✧───❅

Wrinkling his nose, Lyn was suddenly assaulted by frantic whispers as his his legs began to smoke with writhing spirits. Hide they cried Hide and we shall guide you. Hesitating, Lyn nodded in response. "Well, we have two options. Either we go further or we turn back. It depends on how much you want to explore. We can always come back another night too."

Subject Details

Appearance:
San is a relatively unassuming person of Asian decent, standing at a respectable 176 cm (5'9). Perhaps the only odd thing about him is a streak of white hair that falls over his left bangs, soft as the rest of his midnight black locks with all evidence pointing to the streak as being natural. Perhaps the other striking feature he has are the high cheekbones, a jawline sharp enough to slice through flesh, and predatory red eyes narrowed as a cat's eyes would, but all those fade to the background whenever San smiles, everything seeming trivial when faced with a sunshine dimpled grin. He has broad shoulders but a deceptively tiny waist, his body built from years of training and drugs. While blending in with society and humans as a whole, San is a fan of oversized sweaters and jumpers tucked into waist cinching jeans or leather pants. He always covers his skin, leaving the evidence of dissections and a branded serial number hidden under layers of cloth

Personality
INFP - The Mediator | 6w7 - The Confidant
There's an almost frightening duality to S48A2N5. On one hand, he is the perfect soldier; silent, obedient, efficient, and best of all unquestioning. He carries out tasks quietly and quickly, always working to do the most in the least amount of time. There is barely any emotion on his face during these times aside from apathy or the rare crazed blood lust that overtakes him when he bathes in blood, cold indifference facing the horrors he commits. He rarely complains about his tasks nor does he shy away from any additional probing the Mafia occasionally asks of him. Truly, the model tool
On the other hand, San is kind. Kind enough to remember each member of the Mafia he interacts with, their hopes and dreams, their names and wills. He holds kindness in his actions, taking care of any new recruits, very rarely holding any grudges while voluntarily taking the fall each time. There's just an aura around him that makes people feel safe in his presence, as if they could talk about anything and he'd listen wholeheartedly to whatever you had to share. San can be as playful as a cat, always fooling around and giving the heavy atmosphere the light it needs. Whenever he throws his head back, his sunny laughter bounce off the concrete walls and lifts people's spirits. He is a breath of fresh air and sunshine dancing across the floors. He is joy and he is hope.
But perhaps the most damning of all is S48A2N5's trained ability to emote while never feeling emotions himself. He is a perfect spy, able to play whatever role you give him. So who is the real personality, S48A2N5 or San, or perhaps someone else; remains a mystery

Background:
Once, San had a name. What that name was, he no longer remembers but what good is a name when there is no one to call for him? San was, all things considered, a normal boy. Born into a normal family in a normal neighborhood as normal litter of three on a normal summers day, San was the runt of the family and was always a frail kitten. He wasn't bullied but he certainly wasn't strong enough to aid in hunting for scraps or earn any money. It didn't help that he got sick easily, an extra mouth to feed without any clear use for the family, and so once he was old enough San was sold off. On the surface, the ones who bought him was an wealthy family who regularly adopted slums children in an effort to give them a proper home yet the truth couldn't be any different.

Spending one's formulative years in a trafficking ring warps one's perceptions, and certainly San underwent this. Punishments that came from the smallest infractions were commonplace and he learned which places hurt the most when whipped. He learned how to charm and beguile just to earn an extra scrap of food or a ratted blanket, forming alliances when he needed to. A delicate powerplay where he would gently nudge fortune to his favour in order to survive. During his time there, he observed and he learned. He learned how to fight when he was passed onto a fighting ring, fighting tooth to claw just to live another day. He learned to stay silent when scientists intrigued with the morphological differences in his body dyed their hands pink with his blood. He found a talent for acting, for mimicking emotions and tricking others when he realized that those who bought him only wanted him for his tears and his cries. Some wanted his body and he learned to roll with that as well, viewing his world as a set of transactions. If he could not prove to others that he was willing to die for their sake, then what use did he have?

And so when he was finally freed from his debt, through blood and violence as most things happened to resolve within the city, he immediately joined the people who had freed him. After all, they were his saviours and he had to repay them somehow. If using every skill he had acquired while in the ring to serve as the eyes and ears of the Mafia, co-coordinating attacks and defending his saviours to the death was how he would repay them for the unimaginable blessing, then San was more than fine with it. Even before Anthony took him under his wing and trained his unpolished skills into a deadly blade, San would have gladly thrown himself headfirst into conflict if only his saviour pointed. It was only after he became known as Harpacrates did he finally receive a name that he could take pride in. San, an indomitable mountain towards his enemies and a sturdy hill to his allies.

Relationships:
Sun-tzu:
As the leader of the mafia, San practically hero worships Anthony. In his head, Anthony is the one who saved him, who gave him another chance to live, who guided his hand into a steady blade, and as someone who he would gladly give his life to. If there is only one person that San would unquestioningly obey to his last breath, it would be Anthony. There's some fondness there as San still remembers what it was like to be his protege as he strives to follow in his leader's example. He doesn't mind if he's just another pawn in his long game, as long as he can be of use then he is more than satisfied

Archangel:
San doesn't quite know what to make of Nox. One hand, he trusts her as one half of the attack coordination team and as someone he ultimately reports to but he can't quite shake the feeling that he can't trust her completely. He is definitely the more talkative of the two, charming others with his charisma while drawing attention away from Nox. She's a mystery but he likes working with her nonetheless and considers her a friend

Wolfsbane:
Truly the only way to describe this duo's relationship is that of brothers. They will bicker and take jabs at each other but in the end, they trust each other enough. Faolan grudgingly supports San's various petty crimes against the rebels and puts up with his clingy childishness and in turn San drags Faolan to pieces of art he finds and provides a listening ear whenever Faolan feels the need to talk to someone. Somehow, San feels like Faolan knows more that what he lets on but it could just be his paranoia speaking

⊱ ─── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ─── ⊰

Subject Capabilities

Strengths:
Because of his past experiences, San is rarely ever shocked or disgusted by anything. He is willing to do anything and everything both to himself and to others for the sake of the mafia. His apathy serves him well during missions, terrifying his opponents into submission with his unwavering smile even while in the midst of a bloodbath. People rarely see that though, too wrapped around San's sunshine smile and smooth personality as he sweet talks his way into other's hearts and secrets. Disguising a devil under layers of soft sweaters and even softer smiles is his specialty, hiding his own pain and secrets under his unrelenting zeal. His loyalty is unwavering once earned, undying and steadfast. Over the years, he has amassed a great number of skills, becoming a jack of all trades and picking even more up at astounding speeds. His years in the ring have also served him well, honing his body into a weapon who prioritizes victory over fairness, resourceful in finding ways to complete his mission and win his battles even if they're underhand and unconventional

Weaknesses:
As a jack of all trades, he is a master of none. His skills are average at best and while he could invest time into perfecting them, he chooses not to. Despite his high pain tolerance and seemingly unbreakable smile, the moment his threshold is exceeded, it becomes surprisingly easy to break him as even the strongest of mountains crumble if enough has been hacked away. He's also very dependent on others, viewing himself as nothing more than a tool for others to use. He does not take rejection well and will do anything for others just to find a place to be accepted and belong. Truly the best way to take down San is to not target him physically but mentally. His body may be strong but his mind is such a fragile little thing

He also hates vegetables. Perhaps that is his ultimate weakness; leafy greens

Superpower:
Black Cat Nero
Despite its naming, Black Cat Nero is much more than feline morphing. Of course the power gives San the ability to turn into a black cat, save for one white streak of fur which mirrors his own hair. Aside from feline morphology, Black Cat Nero also gives San feline traits outside of his physical cat form, such as exceptional balance, increased night vision, heightened senses, and an uncanny ability to sense danger though this stays as a gut feeling and not as an actual manifested power. He also has incredible leg muscles, able to leap much like a cat if he angles his body properly and is generally much faster that average. In addition to this, San has claws made of keratin, though they can be a handful to maintain as they rapidly grow in order to combat the fragile nature of his nails. Much like a cat, he is most active during the night and can be caught nesting or purring.

Physical manifestations of this power include:
Cat ears, torn and ragged from multiple fights and pieced by safety pins; the standard cat tail which is an extension of his spine thank you very much, and his hands and feet have fully functionally paw pads forcing him usually forgo gloves or shoes as they are much too sensitive to be bound by cloth
Much less noticeable physical traits are vertical pupils, sharp fangs replacing human like teeth, nictitating membranes, Tapetum Lucida, and a barbed tongue

❅───✧❅ Lyn ❅✧───❅

Rolling his eyes at the other's antics, Lyn fluttered his headwings, creating a small cooling breeze. It was mostly just a habit at this point, his jewelry hauntingly chiming softly through the halls. "I think if you had waited a little longer to pull off your move, it would have been more effective." He mused out loud. "It was effective though. If I wasn't used to storms, I would have been frozen in place." It had certainly been unexpected and for a moment he had been frozen before leaping into action. If Frost had showed her hand at a later time, Lyn would have probably lost the race

He snorted at that but kept silent. He didn't argue too much since it wouldn't go anywhere, letting sleeping dragons lie. Being unable to control electricity was already annoying enough but loosing sleep to murmuring ghosts and turning into a literal cloud? Yeah, those were definitely some hindrances right there. But still, he liked to keep some cards hidden and didn't say much, continuing to traverse the winding caverns, only faint flickers of light guiding his way.

"If we get caught, don't say anything." He suddenly said, gently scoring a wall with his claw as he took a random path. "I'll do the talking, you just look pathetic and pitiable or something. I don't know." Honestly, he was just rambling. The unnatural silence that had now overtaken his senses was too jarring and Lyn hated the faint empty ringing that he could still hear. He didn't think he would ever think this, but he missed the annoying blabbing of long dead specters

"No, but I don't mind. Mine were more of a hindrance more than anything." He murmured, trying to see which way to go. Even if the dead no longer told him what he could not see, whispered in his ears of envy and slander, he still had his other senses around. The caves unnerved him though. He wasn't good with tight spaces, his willowy frame unsuited to contorting just to fit himself through passageways. He couldn't smell the sky nor the ozone and perhaps that was the worst part of this whole ordeal. But still, he persisted.

It was getting harder for him to keep track of the twists and turns and was about to suggest an alternative when he noticed that Frost was lagging. Craning his head, he peered at the stumbling fae and sighed. This would not do. If she continued like this, they would take too long to find the crystal and be caught. That was the last thing he wanted to happen so he stopped in his tracks and bent down until his belly was brushing along the floor. "Get on. It'll be quicker." He snapped, wings cupped into a comfortable cradle. He also naturally ran colder than most other dragons so he supposed that would help an Ice dragon recover their stamina faster

●∘◦❀ Pitaya ❀◦∘●

There was a sudden noise near the doors, the sound of a dragon making Pitaya jolt. Without Her guidance, he couldn't even brace himself for an attack. It was almost... refreshing in a way, to not know anything. To simply be alone in this vast world and not be aware of anything going on. To live life as one wanted without knowing what others thought of you. What a blessing, what a tragedy. Still, knowing that the perpetrator was probably long gone, he still called out. "Who's there?"
❅───✧❅ Lyn ❅✧───❅

Lifting his head, Lyn nodded slowly. Glancing around him, he padded over to Frost quietly while not trying to wake Sidon up. "I told you we should have explored the halls better." He said a little amused. It felt weird to have his world be so silent, no spectral whispers nor the crackle of barely repressed lightning but it was almost a comfort in some way. Still he used his superior height to peer over Frost and into the hallway just to make sure that there were no teachers following them. Seeing as the coast was clear, he slunk out into the night, trusting that Frost would follow

●∘◦❀ Pitaya ❀◦∘●

At the first crack of sound, Pitaya was launched violently from his bed as he sprung to his feet looking around wildly. Despite feeling the ground rumbling and quaking under his sensitive feet, Mother Earth did not whisper to him, blessedly absent as the noises continued to rage and thunder. Slowly, almost as if he wasn't expecting it to work, Pitaya tapped the ground before him. Nothing. He saw nothing. No fuzzy grey outlines, no flashes of too much information, nothing. It was simply dark

Crumpling, Pitaya tapped the ground a few more times just to confirm before desperately sweeping the ground before him with his hands to make sure that there really wasn't anything infront of him and that he was well and truely blind. Silent tears tracked down his cheeks and his broad shoulders trembled, an almost sickeningly sweet purfume flooding his small area of the dorm.

He couldn't see
❅───✧❅ Lyn ❅✧───❅

The spirits were quiet tonight. Almost too quiet

Lyn stood in the shadows of Amber dorm, willowy frame concealed by the angles and darkness. The lightning that sparked across his body was eerily absent and while his feet no longer smoked with snuffed out wills, these did not sit will with him. Every so often, his eyes would crackle before dying back down as he gazed out the window. It felt odd to be alone in the quiet without the damned murmuring secrets to him, without electricity crackling through his limbs. His flock was naturally nocturnal and could go almost a week without sleep before it became a necessity yet Lyn had always been kept awake by the dead. But tonight they were silent, not a word passing between the peacefully buried and the cursed. It almost felt too empty, Lyn's ears ringing in the silence of absence. Yes he was worried, but he knew that even if this was to be permanent, he wouldn't be affected. If anything he could leave the Academy earlier and rejoin the flock and learn to serve. After all, abilities didn't define one's position in The Stormchaser Flock, skill did.

Another crack of sound drew Lyn's gaze towards the window as he peered out the frosted glass. He couldn't quite see what was making the noise but it wasn't a storm even if it sounded like one, that much Lyn knew. He didn't need any powers to tell either, intuition honed from years of stormchasing and watching teaching him what a real storm was like. And this wasn't it. If anything, it was the consequences of a dastardly deed

●∘◦❀ Pitaya ❀◦∘●

Was he really that obvious, he wondered, shaking his head almost in embarrassment. "No, I'm told that I grew up in an area called The Flowering Caves. Its technically a desert biome but the cave systems provide so much shade and moisture that the interior is almost like a jungle. I don't think I've known anything other than sand and earth." He explained. The elders had once speculated that the cave system had once been a temple, ruins of glorious arches held up by bone and vine lining some of the walls. No one knew what had made the intricate ecosystem in the first place among the barren sands and tenacious earth but it had given his family a place to thrive nonetheless. An oasis among the desert that even had its own steady supply of water. With how humid the caves naturally were, gathering water was just a matter of placing stone carvings under large leaves and waiting for water to roll off
❅───✧❅ Lyn ❅✧───❅

It wasn't that he felt guilty about almost killing someone, he was just frustrated that his emotions had gotten so out of hand that his body decided that murdering another dragon was the only solution. Still, he kept his beak shut and only nodded in gratitude. He shifted to make room for the newcomer who Lyn absentminded noticed also seemed like an electricity dragon. "Just because you're giving me advice later doesn't mean I'll go easy on any of you." Lyn warned, crouching down and letting all eight wings unfurl with a snap. It was a magnificent sight, to see them displayed so proudly. Thunderclouds seemed to roll under his leathery wings, stormy colouration shimmering under the light.

In flights of straightforward speed, while his flock was fast, it wasn't their strong suit. They excelled in aerial maneuvers and prolonged flights but speed was definitely one of their strengths. He had confidence that he could beat most of the dragons present but the real threats would be Frost and the weird electric dragon with plants weighing down on of her wings.

"A-ah no Its just that I haven't heard or met any dragon like that. If I have, they would have had to hide it so its really cool that you're comfortable talking about it." Pitaya hastily said, munching on whatever was on his plate. He wasn't paying too much attention to that anyways. His family was little more more conservative no matter how well meaning they were and members who didn't fit into their ideals were quietly ignored. Things like have many personalities or wandering attentions weren't talked about nor acknowledged.

A burst of smokey yet fishy kind of saltiness suddenly burst across his tongue as he widened his eyes. The chewy texture was odd and Pitaya had to work his jaw to grind the meat down and there was a distinct oily and charred flavour which seemed to permeate the food. If he had to guess, he would assume that the heavy salt and water smell was the ocean, working in interesting tandem with the flamed meat. He didn't know if he liked it, per say, but it was definitely beyond his wildest imagination
❅───✧❅ Lyn ❅✧───❅

... what?

Lyn was bewildered as he dared to peek up, unsure of what exactly was happening. Usually people either accepted or ignored his apologies, not... attempt to race him. Customs meant that he should stay postured and exposed but Lyn knew that his own (frankly kind of outdated) customs didn't mean much in such a diverse school. So quite slowly and cautiously, he lifted himself out of the kneel and tucked his wings back into his back while keeping an eye on the newcomers warily.

"Don't complain if I leave you in the dust then." He muttered in a manner that would have been almost haughty if his eyes hadn't still retained some of the regret.

So focused was he on the prospect of being able to read and transcribe Her work that Lyn completely forgot that while he might not be storing any electricity in his body anymore, it was still in his nature to produce it. So when a bolt of lightning jumped from one headdwong to another before leaping to the enct available surface, Flamesurfer, Lyn was too preoccupied to even notice it until it was too late. It almost felt as if he was watching things move in slow motion, the slow cracking of deadly electricity arcing a Ross the air to strike at the unsuspecting dragon before a flurry of ice and mist froze the plasma in its tracks before bursting into a fine dust.

Staring wide eyed at the now empty air, Lyn quickly scrambled backwards as more electricity sparked off his scales, crackling as his horror mounted. "I am so sorry." He breathed, eyes darting from Frost to Flamesurfer. His head almost put a dent on the floor with how quickly he lowered it, hastily exposing the roots of all eight of his wings towards the two dragons in a sign of remorseful apology. "Frost is right, you should be careful around me. Thank you, your speed saved a life today."

Gingerly taking some of the squid, Pitaya nodded and wrinkled his snout at the fruit. Yeah he agreed it was much too strong. Though another detail that Aether spoke about had him pausing a bit. Another personality? He had heard talk of dragons who experienced sudden changes as if they had been swapped out with another dragon completely but had never experienced it for himself. Still, he didn't ask too much about it, figuring that if Aether wanted, she would tell him herself. "So does Emily prefer meats then?" He wondred

Raising an eyebrow, he couldn't help the bubbles of laughter that made his feathers tremble in amusement. Frost's reaction to that odd tropical fruit was much too amusing and he made a mental note to not eat it. Instead, he pushed his unfinished plate of bugs across to Frost to help wash out the putrid taste. The mirth quickly died as other dragons began approaching the table and struck up conversations with Frost. It was a bit surprising to learn that Frost had made so many friends when she had seemed so grumpy at the beginning when they first met. But then again, she had managed to befriend him so it shouldn't be that surprising. With a sigh, Lyn wrapped one pair of wings around his front claws and reached into his tatted cloak. Just by touching the stolen book, Lyn could feel Her influence and it was almost calming if not for the fact that he was illegally in possession of it

"Mhm! It's pretty hard to harvest so not many are exported." He explained, sniffing the air as soon as they entered the cave. While he could make out the outlines of the food, he couldn't quite tell what each food was but was naturally drawn to the fruits section. Letting his nose lead him, he picked out a few fruits that seemed interesting enough that he was willing to try. He stayed clear of one particularly spiky fruit though, the pungent scent assaulting his nose in a way that was almost offensive.

There was a pleasant almost fiery smell coming from one place and he wandered over to it. One of the dishes had faint notes of salt the sea. "Is this the grilled squid you were talking about?" He wondered, blinking a few times. The shape was weird but he could kind of understand how an animal like this was made for the water

Taking mostly bugs and a few fruits, Lyn slid into the seat beside Frost. He was a little bit interested in the book that the other had stolen procured but minded his own business. After all, his own tome was pilfered and he didn't want to exactly broadcast that. Still, he dug into his modest meal and paid little mind to those around him. While he didn't have any electricity flowing through his muscles anymore, limbs still occasionally twitching, other dragons still stayed away from the imposing and regal aura that Lyn naturally possessed. It gave them some modicum of privacy at least

"We always ate from the earth. We were born from the earth so we take what she gives us." He admitted, wondering what grilled squid tasted like. It would be different from the plants that he and his family liked to solely graze on. He wondered what it would even look like, what it would smell like. There was a whole world that he didn't know and he ached to experience it. "Mostly it was fruits or leaves but whatever the earth gives us we take it with gratefulness. We also get bugs sometimes if we're desperate. but most of the time we ate a lot of plants. Um.. I guess I like dragon fruit. It was a plant that we didn't get often but there's a desert groove near our home that has rows and rows of cacti and if you wait for the right season you can get a lot of fruit."

It was a funny how Pitaya had been the one to find said cactus groove. Mother Earth had led him there, her gentle touch a careful and guiding as he saw the world once again through new eyes. The Pitaya groove, as his family called it. After the fruit, after the dragon.

It felt good to simply run through the halls, but Lyn still longed to stretch his flight wings. That would come later, he supposed as he barely beat Frost. Perhaps it was because he had expended a lot of electricity on the first race but it was thrilling to have such close competition. He was about to point that out when Frost quite possibly traveled faster than the speed of sound and loaded up on a mountain of bugs. Her plate looked ready to buckle under the sheer number of grasshoppers and he had to stifle a laugh at how eager she was. "Don't worry, bugs were all we ate too." He assured, wandering over a much more relaxed pace to load his own plate full of bugs.

Being primarily airborn for most of their lives, bugs was the easiest food to catch. After all, they shared the same habitat and were the easiest to hunt. Some more adventurous hatchlings caught birds but that was quickly spat out as having blood running down one's maw while learning how to safely avoid lightning was inconvenient at best. Sometimes, they also ate grass, becoming a secondary supplement in their diet due to it's bountiful nature but bugs were always the most consistent meal the flock had.

"I get you, don't even get me started on fish. Those things both look disgusting and smell even worse." He fake gagged, nodding slightly to the greenish dragon that was scarfing down on fish. "Bugs are so much better." Of course he didn't hate the dragon eating the frankly unappetizing dish but he couldn't fathom finding them appealing. They just... stared blankly into your soul and revealing all your deepest sins as you ate them. Gross

The stories were marvelous, he could almost get lost in the wonder of it all. But that was soon shattered as the bell chimed, signaling that food was available. Again, when the announcement rang Pitaya jumped and looked around almost wildly for the source of the voice. "A-ahaha yes I have heard talk of some of that." He agreed with Aether's words. Some dragons weren't very discreet with their intentions and while he had good hearing, it wasn't like the others were trying to hide it. Especially a certain dragon that carried notes of smoke, fire, and the ocean.

Gently getting up to his feet, he tapped the ground in front of him to get a good image of his surroundings. It seemed empty enough and he moved closer to Aether with a smile. "Well, let's go. What kind of food do you like usually?"

There was a black book. It was almost inky, swirling with blue and grey as the pages themselves rumbled with enticement. It was evidently a book that She had written, Her signature written all over the midnight pages. Cradling the book between his claws, Lyn almost didn't want to read it but the bell reminded him that he didn't have much time. Taking a quick look around, he made sure no one was watching before slipping the book between the folds of his torn cowl in a hidden pouch. A book like this shouldn't be on the musty shelves of a forgotten libraries and while he wouldn't steal it per say, he'd definitely return it, but he needed to have it transcribed.

With his stolen goods carefully tucked away, he smiled to Frost and nodded. "Race you there?" He teased, antenna swaying in mirth.

Soaking up the words, the adventure was described so vividly that Pitaya almost could visualize the sprawling jungle and the flaming sunset settling over the crystalline sea. It sounded like a dream come true to travel to such scenic locations, exploring the lands without a care in the world. To travel the world, to see it through the ground and take in all that Mother had to give, that just sounded splendid. Perhaps one day.

"That sounds amazing." He admitted, a look of longing crossing his face. "Did you two always like travelling? It must be nice to have a sibling who shares your interests."

Oh the moment he learned who had made her think like that, Lyn was going to do some very unspeakable things to them that may or may not involve a whole lot of electricity and maybe a little haunting. Still he nodded but not before muttering "I don't give out complements lightly. Don't waste my time doubting my words. You could have beaten me so take pride in that." With that, he made his way over to the aforementioned section, getting a head start on combing through the archives. In conjuncture, he kept an eye out for any books that would mention Her or The Storms.
