Shaun woke up. He was still stressed from th occurrences the night before, but darkrai told him nothing had happened. Wait. There was something new. Shaun reached his mind out into the shadows, probing for this new presence. He felt a human, with a mew two closely linked. Maybe another guardian that none had noticed? For now, shaun didn't feel like bothering him, but instead went outside, resolving to improve his fighting skills. Maybe he could spar against this new guardian to hone his skills.

(Enough time went by with none figuring out the traitor, so *sigh* here goes)

Now, he thought as he walked through the abandoned hallways, the plan will take place!
I pulled out a small microphone like box out and said, "execute plan 66." (star wars reference, anyone?)

The next day, the new Team Stygian marched on team Comet. With no power, none would've expected it.

Sarah, suddenly pushed into the very trap she had created.

Max, crushed under the stone wall he had created.

One by one, the leaders of team comet fell. As i witnessed the destruction, "At last, after a year of planning, team Stygian has risen!"

EPILOGUE

18 years later.

He stood on top of the mountain, still the leader, still in power. "I have heard rumors of a group of pokemon "guardians," and that my son, Shaun, is among them. No matter. I will destroy them immediately!"

sorry guys, but here comes ~~a freaking long post.~~ XD ~~and some psychological relevations~~

shaun poked his head into the hut. He couldn't see Kendall or anyone else from where he was standing. He shrugged, assuming that they were all asleep.

He turned around and walked towards the nearest shadow, ready to go back to his house. As he stepped into the shadow, he felt a presence. How? You have been missing for years. Why come back now? Why?

He opened the front door to his house, and there he was. Shaun's father. THAT man. Shaun knew even without looking where the team stygian badge was on his shirt, right next to the dusknoir pin.

"Why have you come here? Why come back now, after abandoning your family for your own personal desires?"

"Oh, shaun, you don't seem to understand. Team Stygian isn't evil, it's a REVOLUTION! You seem to have lost your way since your mother died, haven't you?"

"It's not me who has lost their way, it's you. Do you know what team Stygian will do to the world? The whole world will be thrust into eternal darkness."

"isn't that what we live for? You and i, hiding in the shadows. Don't deny it."

"Maybe you are right. Maybe we do enjoy the shadows. But unlike you, i like the sunlight as well. I have come to accept it. I have realized that there is more to this world than backstabbing and lies. You are still stuck in that world, ever since killing the previous leader of Team Stygian. Soon someone will do the same to you. The leader's role is never safe."

"Oh, you seem to underestimate my power, don't you? Besides the point, I have come because… well… You seem more powerful than when i last saw you. Could it be…?"

"Yes, Father. I don't even know why i should call you that anymore. I have learned to accept darkrai within me, and he has done the same. We can defeat you now."

"I wouldn't be so arrogant, Shaun."

Shaun lashed out with the shadows around him, and felt the familiar defense patterns of his father. Shaun, however, had prepared for this. He switched up his style and aimed for where he knew was undefended. What he wasn't expecting, however, was to be ambushed by his father's dusknoir from the right. He apologized to darkrai, for he was going to have to tap into his power.

He countered dusknoir's attack, and began his assault anew. However, something seemed off. Nothing was working.

Hehehehehe… I told you not to underestimate me, Shaun. I too have practiced for this moment."

Shaun stumbled back, defeated, and watched as his father towered over him.

"Now, go. Become stronger, and return when you are a worthy opponent of me."

Shaun's father placed his hand into the shadows behind him, and like that, gone. Shaun sat there, trying to work out the puzzle in his head. 7 different battles, 7 consecutive losses. Yet every time, he was spared. Why would his father spare him, as Shaun had vital information that could save the other Guardians? Did he want Shaun to watch as everything fell into darkness, or did his convoluted mind still believe that Shaun would join him?

Shaun did not feel comfortable going to sleep, but darkrai said that he would watch over him. Shaun stumbled to his bed, vowing to become stronger so that one day, he could defeat the man that caused him so much agony.
