She steps back around Maddy and wheels her back outside. She also takes Maddy's hint. It was obvious that she didn't wish to hold a conversation with her. Now left alone with only her thoughts, Sage allows her mind to wander as she stops by the shoreline and gazes into the waters ahead. All her fears slowly seemed to resurface. She should feel some sort of reassurance that she wasn't going through this alone. She had Tani, Maddy, Gwen, and now Irida to help her take charge, yet she still couldn't help but feel like it couldn't be enough. It was like she was going up against an unstoppable force. She had faced one too many underhanded battles against the Cloaks. It seemed impossible that it could end one day. Breathe, one step at a time she reminds herself. She loosens her grip on Maddy's wheelchair and steps back to give Maddy space. Footsteps can be heard from behind Eric as Gwen approaches him. "How are you holding up?" She asks him. She doesn't clarify what she is talking about. Whenever it's the travel, the battle, or even Eric's near death experience, it doesn't matter, because all three could easily wear a person down. "You did a good job fighting out there" she continues once she gets an answer from him. "I am going to need you to assist in training the Telmarian army. Your skills are too good to keep private. You have the potential to become a great general one day" she praises. She clears her throat and adds: "you are a good fighter, but not good enough to have the honor of using my bow, I'll need it back" she says, but not unkindly. [Read more] |

"This is nice, isn't it?" Sage asks as she wheels Maddy into the bungalow. "I was expecting to sleep in tents, the people here are very generous to lend us these homes" she continues as she steps around Maddy to inspect some empty shelves. "This almost feels like a vacation, I have to keep reminding myself that we are once again in a war" she turns around to face Maddy. "You can say something you know? The floor is all yours." "Don't you want to rest up a bit before you examine my people?" Irida asks. Leaf doesn't even need to respond, Irida catches a determined look in her eyes that brings a smile to her face. "Nevermind, hold on a minute." She turns around to glance at one of right hand men. A boy who has some knowledge of the Telmarian language. "Williamson here will lead you to our barracks, that's where we are housing and protecting the majority of the sick and injured. You can both leave when you're ready." Williamson's brow furrows slightly as he struggles to grasp Irida's words. After a minute, he nods, finally understanding what she said. [Read more] |

As esexpected, the Kestrian people all pause from their activities to stare curiously at the newcomers. Their gazes were quite docile compared to how the Telmarian people had looked at Irida and her army when they arrived to their Telmar. It was obvious that they haven't quite faced the hardships that the Telmarian people had suffered through. Irida doesn't waste much time. She leads the caravan down what seemed to be a maze of streets. It was quite different from Telmarian's more open kingdom. They are eventually stopped by a large atretch of flat land. Bungalows scatter the area. "This will be your new temporary home" Irida explains to the caravan. "I'll leave you alone to rest and set up. I'll be close by if you have any questions." Irida adds Sage steps off her horse and nods to a younger girl nearby. The girl takes the horse away from Sage and rides it over to one of the larger bungalows. Sage stares at her new home thoughtfully. It looked pretty nice, far to nice to allow visitors to use. Then again, this kingdom was far nicer than what she was use to. She moves over to Maddy's wagon and knocks on the side of it to get Maddy's attention. "Let's get you settled in" she tells Maddy. [Read more] |

In response to Leaf's question, Irida turns her head slightly, staring at Leaf out of her peripheral vision. "We are awaiting reinforcements from our homeland" is all she says before turning her head to face towards the road again. Her grip had tightened on her reigns. A gesture that only Gwen and Winters had caught. They were smart enough to not acknowledge it. "Aperite portas, suus 'Generalis Irida!" ("Open the gates, it's general Irida!") She shouts out again once they reach the next wall. [Read more] |

"Iudices Mountain?" ("Mountain Men?") He asks. "Quis alius?" ("Who else?") Irida replies bitterly. She nods at her army, who had began to gather close by her. "Media sunt, ex vobis reprehendo in area. Quod reliquum est quaerere regna. Danger" ("Search the area. Half of you must patrol the surrounding area, the rest go to the kingdom. Be careful") she commands. Her army does as told, they all split up. Half run off to check the surrounding area while the rest rush into the kingdom. "Exspecto" ("Wait!") She calls, which makes the second half of her army pause. She rides up to the front and puts a hand on her sword, as if she were expecting a fight. "Haec est generalis Irida! Aperta!" ("It's general Irida. Open up!") She shouts. There is the sound of shuffling feet just outside the wall, followed by more indecipherable shouting. After a few seconds, the large wooden gate slowly began to open, revealing the fortress inside. Irida saw hundreds of men training with their weapons. It was necessary that her army kept their skills sharp. One soldier came running towards Irida and spoke to her "Ah! Generalis! Ego sum gauisus de reditu tuo!" ("Ah, general! So glad to see your return.) Said the soldier. Irida looked at him with puzzled eyes and replied, "Hic quod factum est?" ("What happened here?") The soldier looked at her and began to speak more casually "Damnare Mountain coepi impetum in homines ante lunibus paucis. Quibus statim. In facto, alia sectiones referre remanet nisi ad militum Mountain homines." ("The d*mn Mountain Men started attacking a few days ago, but all of a sudden they just vanished. Other sections of the wall are reporting a disappearance of enemy forces as well.") Irida looked around. Something just didn't add up. Why would they pull their forces? Irida looked back up at the soldier. "Habemus ad utilitatem illius. Horis quotidie auxilia modo mittendo quarta pars tui optima parte reparationes fieri explorate." ("We must take advantage of this then. Send out a quarter of your men to begin repairing the wall and scout thd area. We must be ready for their next assault.") The soldier nodded and began walking away, causing Irida to say one last thing. "Tribunus ne in tua vigilantia. Nos Non licet tibi amplius patitur kiosks. Quod predictus Rogerus?" ("Captain, dont let your guard diwn. We mustn't let another Kios Massacre happen, understood?") The soldiers nodded and began walking away. Irida turns around and eyes the army behind her. "Et alia media ad possidendum regnum. Accipere ceteri omnes Lorem longissima" ("Reclaim the other half and return to the kingdom. Rest up, you all had a long journey") she tells them before returning to the caravan. The second half of the army takes off into the woods, disappearing amongst the trees. "No need to worry" she lies to the citizens. "We are nearly there, it's just pass these few walls." She climbs back onto her horse and ignores Winters, who was starting at her intently, obviously waiting for an explanation. She says nothing and leads the caravan towards Kestrian. "Do you think that I don't already know that!?" Irida demands. She swiftly turns around and begins marching towards the caravan. "Alright everyone! Unfortunately we must get moving! Everyone gather their stuff!" When nobody moves she sighs and rolls her eyes. "Now people! Move!" She roars. She extends a hand towards one of her men, who was leading her horse back to her. She climbs back onto the saddle and begins to move around the camp. She shouts out similar commands, forcing the citizens to get back onto their wagons and horses so that they could continue onward. Both armies do their best to fill in the missing spots. They still ride outside of the caravan while both Irida and Gwen lead the way, this time though, Winters joins them at the front. None of them offer any form of small talk, which, they all are silently relieved by. [Read more] |

"Why do I get to live while everyone else dies?" She continues, she turns around to stare back at Maddy. Her gaze was filled with agony, she doesn't even try to hide it now. "There is nothing left of me to worry for. At the very least, if I'm going to be left alive by some sort of cruel fate, I would like to spend that time helping the ones closest to me." She sighs. "Finally helping" she clarifies. "I've been no help until now. It's about time I do my part. So tell me Maddy, what's bothering you. Anyone can see that you are not okay." "It'll all be over soon Leaf" Sage assures her. "It'll either end with the destruction of ourselves or the Cloaks." She lifts her head up and strides towards where Leaf came running from. "I intend for it to be the latter." Sage lowers her head when she spots Morgan's body. She does her best to make Morgan's grave look as nice as possible. She places flowers on it, like Leaf had done for Barry. "I'm sorry" she whispers to Morgan. "I promise I'll avenge you" she whispers. [Read more] |

Sage's eyes widen and she visibly pales. "It can't be!" She shakes her head and takes a step closer to Leaf. She places her hands on Leaf's shoulders. Her eyes were suddenly intense, the older woman had never looked so serious. "Are you certain that it's-" she hesitates. "That's it's Morgan?" [Read more] |

Gwen had noticed the outburst and had done nothing about it. At least, not immediately. She had decided to help Irida bury her fallen soldiers. Both Irida and Winters were visibly tense around Gwen, both seemingly wary of her being given a shovel. The two seemed to be sharing the same vision- Gwen suddenly turning on them and attacking them with the shovel. Gwen doesn't even try to attack them. The need to fight quickly leaves her after she helps dig a third grave and notices that there were still plenty of bodies left to bury. I can't believe we lost so many people, and the fight hasn't even truly started yet she thinks to herself as she tries to blink away a fresh stream of tears. This lead her to glance towards Maddy. Who she didn't spot until the tears were gone. Her presence reminds her that she hasn't really checked up on Maddy in months. Another jab of guilt hits her. It was another thing she failed on. She failed her kingdom, failed to save Dylan, failed to help Maddy. Now this, did she really do all she could in this fight? Could she have saved Barry? She waves away these toxic thoughts just enough for her to think clearly. She makes her way over to Maddy, pausing just slightly behind her. "Hey" she says at a near whisper. "We'll be leaving soon, don't worry." She cringes at the sound of her hoarse voice; of all times, now was the most necessary for her to be strong. "I'm sorry it's been so long since I've last checked up on you." Saying it out loud causes Gwen to feel only slightly relieved. The impact, she finds, was much smaller than she expected. What did I expect? This isn't a fairytale. My guilt won't go simply by me apologizing to those I hurt. [Read more] |

"Who are the Howlers?" Sage asks. "The Howlers are dangerous, especially to a group of this size. You are lucky to have survived this attack. The Howlers are a dangerous division in the Cloaks army. What they lack in numbers, which, are large next to ours, they make up for in their steeds strength. They don't ride horses, they ride a much more dangerous creature: Marchhounds, or as the people of Kestrian calls them- Mountain Beasts." Winters explains. "Calista is right. We need to move, now." "What's going on?" Sage asks warily. "Irida seemed to forget to mention that she befriended a Cloak" Gwen growls. "The same one who has been trying to assassinate me" she adds. "Oh don't be so dramatic princess. I've only been trying to get your old charm back- we both know that your fighting skills have worsened" Winters fires back. "Would you have given me the same energy if you didn't think that you were fighting for your life?" He asks. "He left the Cloaks" Irida explains to Gwen. "How can you trust that?" Gwen asks. "How do we know that this recent attack wasn't part of his doing?" Gwen asks. "Because that attack was partly meant for me. Megumo- I'm sure you met him, was sent to take me down" Winters explains. He raises his head up, his eyes sharpening as he steps out of the woods. He forces himself to release his guilt. He had a job to do, he couldn't do the job if he were dead. D*mn you Megumo, d*mn you Winters thinks to himself as he moves through the caravan. Nobody seems to notice the strange man moving through the crowd, their eyes were dazed. Most were either filled with shock or agony, or even a mixture of both. They were too focused on their own thoughts to him. He moves over to a lone woman standing outside of the group. She doesn't even notice his presence until he places a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry for your loss" Winters whispers to Gwen sincerely. Gwen jolts in surprise, she twists away from Winters and pulls out her sword. "What are you doing here!?" She shouts. But before she can drive her sword through Winters' chest a body suddenly slams into her. Strong arms wrap around Gwen's body, pinning her arms in place so that she can't move them. "Winters... I thought we agreed that you'd return to her when we arrived at Kestrian" Irirda growls as she fights to keep Gwen in place. "You know him!?" Gwen asks in bewilderment. She manages to shove herself off of Irida. "You!" She shouts while pointing her sword at Irirda, "Tell me what's going on!" "It's a long story" Irida replies calmly. "One that we don't have time for. I promise I'll explain everything to you later. For now... let's just say that he is an ally." How are you holding up?" Sage asks Maddy. She had noticed that Maddy was alone inside one of the wagons and had wanted to check up on her. Sage knew that Maddy had been close with Luke and Barry. "Stupid question... you don't need to answer" Sage replies quickly. She holds a hand out towards Maddy. "Would you like to say goodbye?" She asks softly. [Read more] |

"Don't be stupid" Irida tells Gwen sternly. She shoves Gwen back a bit. This time, the momentum throws her onto the ground. Gwen's hands clench and she turns her rage onto Irida. She opens her mouth to say something cutting but closes it upon seeing Irida's shocked expression. Irida curses to herself as she surveys the area around them. The devastation was enough to drain the fight out of Gwen. She slowly rises to her feet and gasps at the amount of bodies that littered the floor around them. Still, her eyes keep returning to Barry, who was still laying motionless on the floor. "Go to him" Irida urges. Her voice was hard and her face was unreadable. Gwen would be impressed by Irida's ability to hide her pain if it weren't for her own heartbreak overshadowing all her senses. "Go" Irida says again. It dawns on Gwen that she had been standing here starting at Irida. "Will you be okay?" Gwen asks. The question was stupid, but she felt like she needed to ask it. "I'll be fine" Irida snaps. "Go to him" she repeats. "I'll deal with-" a single crack seems to break through the wall that she had expertly put up, because she winces at the verbal assurance that all of this was real. "-This" she finishes. Gwen knows that she should help Irida with the bodies, help Irida reassure the group, help get the group moving again. At one point she would've been able to do that. But she was weak and gave into her emotions. She walks over to Barry, but respectfully keeps her distance away from the four. "I'm sorry" is all she says, her voice was barely audible. Who she is saying sorry to, and what for is a mystery. [Read more] |

I am pleasantly surprised to see that The Awakening had won an Oscar. It only feels like yesterday when I had gotten bored at work and had spontaneously come up with the idea for Haven of Beasts. That's all it really was at the time, a simple idea. That's how it would have ended if it weren't for RoyalGecko stepping in and coming up with a few ideas that helped save the RP. Gecko still manages to surprise me with her ideas for the Haven of Beasts trilogy. She managed to turn my simple idea into something much greater. If it weren't for her, none of this would have ever happened. Of course, Gecko can't get all the credit. We also continue to have an amazing cast that helps makes this RP great. Thank you to everyone who has been apart of this trilogy. We couldn't have done this without all of you. [Read more] |

She runs a hand through her hair, realizing too late that it has been sticky from layers of blood. She holds her palm out in front of her, blinking at it in disbelief. What happened? She wonders as she lowers her hand and glances around her. There was still a battle raging around her. But now the screams of war had been becoming more and more noticeable. She sucks in a sharp breath, wincing at a small wound on her arm. When had she gotten hit? She couldn't remember. She turns her head to Tani and Leaf, noticing them comforting a young boy. A stab of pain jabs her heart. How cruel were these Mountain Men? To kill a child? The rage seems to boil over again. She grips her sword tightly to stop her hand from trembling. Adrenaline courses through her veins, giving her dangerous strength. She was currently unhinged. She raises her bloodied sword up and continues her fight. "You-..." Gwen's voice was sharp and cold. She slowly makes her way towards Megumo, sword pointed challengingly towards him. "You know, I was just going to kill you quickly at first. But now- I may just have to take my time." She glances down at Barry pitifully once. She wants nothing more than to comfort the dying boy. But the fight wasn't over yet, she had to finish this, and now. {Royal is going to take over my characters for the time being} [Read more] |

Yet Irida didn't focus on any of this. All logic seemed to disappear as she raced into battle. She was different, compared to Gwen. She wasn't a calculated fighter, no, there was nothing to complicate. It was either kill or be killed and she refused to die, refused to have anyone in the caravan die. Her mind felt cloudy, everything around her was a blur, the only thing clear to her was the next enemy in front of her. She grabs both weapons out, her sword and dagger. She holds each one in hand and clashes with her foe. The Beast tries to tear into her horse, a mistake. It raises it's large head towards the neck of her horse, seemingly trying to sink it's dangerous teeth into it's neck. Instead of flesh and bone, it meets the blade from her dagger. The Beast releases an agonized yelp. It throws itself to the floor and rubs it's large head to the ground in the hopes of escaping the pain. This only further tears open the wound. Her enemy screams out, having not realized that the beast was about to fall. His leg was pinned to the ground, most likely broken. Any moral person would let him out of his misery. But Irida was seeing red, she no longer considered him a threat, so he no longer deserved her attention. She races off towards the next fight, leaving him behind without a second thought. There are too many Marchhounds Gwen observes as she watches both armies slowly adjust into the fight. They hold strong, trying their best to ensure that none of the Marchhounds can cut their way into the middle of the caravan. She felt like a coward for not helping in the fight, but she had to protect her two leaders at all costs. She spots Tani first, then Eric, who seemed to holding himself well. Until a Hound leapd at him. She finds herself holding her breath, but releases it when Tani saves him. A moment later, she spots Sage, who was smartly trying to make her way over to Tani. Her smile disappears when she spots a Marchhound and it's rider tear through the line and race towards her. Gwen beats the Marchhound over to Sage. She attacks the rider while Sage defends herself with the staff. She whacks the Hound everytime it gets close. Gwen wasn't sure what was more humorous to her. Sage defending herself with a staff, or the fact that it was working. Once Gwen finishes off the rider she kills the Hound, saving Sage from having to further defend herself. "Are you guys okay?" She asks breathlessly. She needed to think, needed to plan. But that was worthless, there would be no way she could command this army over the sounds of this fight. She curses to herself, realizing she'll simply just have to fight and hope for the best. [Read more] |
