Blessing Description:
Absofusion
Upon Kyurem's selection of Shōhei, they inherited part of the Boundary Pokémon's ability to fuse; having more versatility, but less power. Shōhei can infuse himself with the energy of a fainted Pokémon within his sight; temporarily gaining the power to use their attacks, wield their ability, and harness their types. In addition, his appearance temporarily changes; taking on features of the Pokémon species he's drawing from.

He holds onto this power until either he faints; the Pokémon he's drawing from is healed from fainting; or he willingly ends the Absofusion. Moreover, the drawbacks to this ability are not physical, but instead psychological. Shōhei, being a person without a centralized identity, will begin to crave the feeling of power; the sensation of 'identity' the more he uses Absofusion. If he were to use it for too long; use it too often; or use it on a Pokémon of Legendary or Mythical status, he could risk entirely losing sight of himself. He could become a soulless husk, feeding off of Infinity Energy until his ultimate demise.

..That won't happen, right?

Appearance:
Shōhei is a short man, standing at only roughly 155 centimeters in height. His build is visibly muscular. He has a tan complexion with nearly no visible blemishes, save for a single scar across his nose. This scar is often covered with a bandage or makeup, however, leaving the impression that he truly is untouchable.

He has curly, red hair which is typically pulled back into a ponytail. The ends of his bangs and parts of said ponytail are dyed pink, though the color is fast-fading.

He has hooded yellow eyes and long eyelashes, with no visible pupils. He still has them, they’re just not exactly the easiest to spot.

Their ‘standard’ outfit consists of a green button-up shirt with its sleeves rolled up, a beige vest, brown pants, and brown hiking boots with black laces. They wear black gloves with the fingers being beige, and a brown belt with black loops and a golden buckle.

He is frequently seen with a camera attached to a black neck strap, although that isn’t necessary to carry around. What is necessary is the aforementioned nose bandage.

Personality:
Outwardly friendly, Shōhei portrays himself as a shoulder to lean on and as someone to listen to in times of need. He's protective when it comes to others' happiness and well-being, yet caves instantly the moment he has to offer the same to himself. He is a man who thrives around other people, and is often the life of a party. A charmer and a man of many passions, he only has the goal of seeing others smile, laugh, or have any sort of amused reaction to him and his antics.

And yet.. there seems to be something below the surface he’s not letting others in on.

His sense of identity is volatile; heavily reliant on what others believe of him. Desperate for approval, Shōhei will do nearly anything short of harming other people just so he can form an idea of who he is. He’s detached from his sense of self; willing to be reckless and not putting in much thought if it means that people will think about him. He gets anxious when people aren’t looking at him — reversing the discomfort of being watched when you’re alone with taking comfort in that sensation.

Still, you’d be hard-pressed to hear the truth about it from him. He’s never been above lying to avoid being worried about. Or to protect other people.

Whatever you want of him, he’ll do. Just say the word.

General Skillset:
Charisma
For all of his brash and reckless behavior, Shōhei knows how to move a crowd. While not exactly a leader, he has the capability to inspire hope. It's like he knows just what to say in a moment, when he actually stops to think for a moment.

Loyalty
While this may seem to clash with his later dishonest and distrustful descriptors, there’s more to him than that. When you can bring him in close, when he does trust you, he’s loyal to almost a fault. Regardless of right and wrong in a situation, he tends to favor the people who give him positive feedback.

Physical Strength
Shōhei is incredibly strong for someone of his small size. He attributes it to living a particularly active lifestyle; even for a traveling trainer. It's said that he has lifted up a Skeledirge before; although, no one can truly attest to this with visible proof. But you gotta trust him. He totally has. He's sooo cool.

Weaknesses/Flaws:
Codependence
Shōhei is utterly incapable of thriving by himself. He requires at least one person with him at all times, or else he begins to panic; stemming from a past of abandonment and consequently-developed autophobia. He will do nearly anything to avoid being abandoned, and needs to feel wanted.

Dishonesty
Shōhei has a tendency to embellish certain events in his life to seem more exciting than they actually are. Consequently, his word can’t always be taken at face value as a result. Similarly, he also tends to downplay the impact tragic events have on him.

Distrustfulness
For all of the empathy and self-sacrifice, Shōhei doesn’t actually trust the people he’s around.. or, most of the people he’s around. This ties directly into his dishonesty; believing others will abandon him if he doesn’t lie and make himself interesting. While he does trust that the people around him won’t hurt him (on purpose) sometimes, he’s terrified of the idea of them leaving him alone.

Impulsivity
For all of his niceness, Shōhei often does not think before he speaks or acts. To his credit, he has gotten a little better about it compared to his younger days. However, it’s not uncommon for him to blurt out something that could be taken the wrong way, regardless of how apologetic he gets immediately after.

Self-Sacrificial
To the degree that his own safety comes second until it becomes an instance of life or death. He’ll take the brunt of injuries for other people; accepting vile words and mistreatment, until it becomes a matter of whose survival comes first. Only then can he prioritize himself, and even that’s a toss-up.

Other Information:
Shōhei is Sinnohan (on his father's side) and Paldean-Unovan (on his mother's side).
Speaking of his family lineage, though, he doesn't use his mother's surname if he can help it.

Genuinely, a BPD diagnosis would help him so much after all of this. And lots of other things, of course, but that one's a big one.

The closest to a voice claim I could find for him is Yuma (SynthV).

Since becoming Kyurem's chosen, Shōhei's started to run a little cold. He's constantly shivering.

This is a remake of the original Final Flare. The general plot will be the same, but it will be played with a much smaller group, and will be organized far more nicely than before. Thank you for paying a visit!

Kalos is in a crisis.

Team Flare, led by Lysandre Blumiere and his team of scientists, has just set off a weapon thought to have been destroyed 3,000 years ago; powered by the legendary Pokémon of destruction, Yveltal. With a blast of radiant energy to the heavens, Team Flare has almost entirely desolated Kalos, and the rest of the world is now on a timer. It's only a matter of time before the sheer destructive energy from Yveltal leeches into the other regions and eliminates them too.

But not all hope has been lost yet.

Fearful for their potential capture, the other legendaries of the world know better than to get involved themselves. Instead, they sought the noble, the pure of heart. A group of seemingly-inconspicuous trainers, who they believe could restore the Pokémon world to the state it was meant to be in. Saved from oblivion, these trainers must race against time itself to find Xerneas or Zygarde in order to reverse the approaching end.

2. While there is not a hard maximum amount of characters you can play, you aren't recommended to take more than one. This is so the group doesn't get too large at any given point.
2a. Character death may occur during the roleplay. You are free to prepare a backup character should this occur.

4. Team Flare members will not be allowed at all for this run of Final Flare. This is to keep everyone in the same general area and group.

5a. The only exception to this rule is the manmade legendaries/mythicals. Mewtwo, Genesect, Type:Null/Silvally and Magearna will be allowed if there is precedent for the character to have them. (Such as a Team Plasma scientist having a Genesect.) This will need to be cleared with sleepynebby as well; and only one of these Pokémon will be able to be present in the group at once.

6. One-liners are heavily discouraged. Roleplayers are encouraged to type, at minimum, five sentences per post.

7. As mentioned in Rule 2a, character death may occur during Final Flare Reborn. This will not happen to any roleplayer unwilling to kill off their character. Please discuss with sleepynebby before jumping to character death.

8. While the themes of this roleplay are grim, it is asked that you keep this PG-13. No swearing, as per site rules, keep it SFW.

9. You are allowed to stylize your submission differently than the base format. As long as all information remains consistent between the template and your submission, everything is fine.

10. There is no password to join the roleplay. By signing up, it's expected that you have read all of the information provided in this forum.

Eyyy, Wishmaker, we've got two of the same faves! Colress is personally my top fav in the entire series. His Adventures iteration is hilarious to me just because of how unapologetically horrible he is, and his expressions in the panels are so goofy. Grimsley's also up there for me, he's got a darn cool design.

I also really like Iono and Koga! Iono's another one of those "really funny and charming" characters to me, and Koga going from a gym leader to elite four between the Kanto and Johto games was something we don't see too much of in-series. I think the only other similar transitions aaaare
