December 20, 2017 AR+ is now available in Pokémon GO! Trainers, Get ready for even more realistic Pokémon encounters: AR+ is coming to Pokémon GO! AR+ leverages Apple’s ARKit framework to build on the AR work already implemented in Pokémon GO. Soon, Trainers around the world running iOS 11 on iPhone 6s and newer models can experience AR+ in Pokémon GO. Scale: With AR+, Pokémon are now fixed to a point in space, meaning you can walk up close to a Pokémon to see to how they’ll look in the real world. Imagine looking up at a massive Onix or walking around a gigantic Snorlax blocking your path! This feature brings us one step closer to truly realizing Pokémon the way they are supposed to be represented in the real world. Pokémon GO AR photos will never be the same again! Awareness: Pokémon will run away if they become aware of the Trainers getting close, so be careful. You can sneak up close to earn an Expert Handler bonus, but think twice before running right up to that Charizard! You’ll need to be extra cautious so you don’t scare it away. An awareness meter will appear next to the Pokémon, and if the meter fills up, the Pokémon will flee. If it does, you can try tapping on the tall grass nearby, which may cause the Pokémon to reappear and give you an additional chance to catch it. Expert Handler Bonus: Think you have what it takes to be an expert Pokémon handler? While in AR+ mode, you’ll finally have the chance to prove it! If you’re able to catch a Pokémon while in close proximity, you’ll have a better chance at earning Great and Excellent Throw bonuses, as well as an all-new Expert Handler bonus that awards even more XP and Stardust. This is our first step toward making AR capabilities in Pokémon GO even more awesome, opening up the framework for greater AR experiences in the future. As you explore your local neighborhoods, remember to share your AR+ photos of your encounters on social media with the hashtag #PokemonGOarplus. And be sure to always stay aware of your surroundings and make sure you’re safe while in AR+ mode. We'd love to see all of your new adventures as they unfold. —The Pokémon GO team [Read more] |

December 7, 2017 Developer Insights: Introducing Dynamic Weather Gameplay and Battle Parties Trainers, We’re just as excited as you are for the introduction of even more Pokémon originally from the Hoenn region to start appearing in the real world. Alongside the introduction of these new Pokémon, we also revealed that a new dynamic weather gameplay system will start rolling out to Trainers around the world. We wanted to share a few notes detailing some of these upcoming changes, as well as a few comments from our development team. Dynamic Weather Gameplay: -The Pokémon GO user interface will reflect each Trainer’s current local weather. -Certain Pokémon will be more likely to appear frequently in weather that suits them the most. -These Pokémon will yield bonus Stardust when caught. -These Pokémon are more likely to have greater potential in battle. -Move types that match certain weather conditions will deal extra damage in battle. ~Developer Comments: When we first started thinking about features we’d be introducing alongside the Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region, a dynamic weather system that reflects real-world weather in-game was one of the first concepts that came to mind. This feature brings us one step closer to how we’ve envisioned discovering Pokémon in the real world–further connecting the digital world to the physical world you experience around you. We want changes in weather to have an impact on your gameplay experience. When it’s raining outside, the game world will match the real-world conditions. You’ll see rain falling from the sky and Water-type Pokémon appearing much more frequently, but that’s not all. While it’s raining, the Water-type Pokémon you catch in the wild or through Raid Battles will award more Stardust and have greater potential in battle. You’ll also be able to use your local weather patterns to your advantage in Gym battles and Raid Battles, as some move types will be more effective during certain weather conditions. We’re incredibly excited for you to experience this new dynamic weather gameplay system as it starts rolling out to Trainers around the world. We also want to share two other changes coming to Pokémon GO alongside this update. - Battle Parties (Beta): Trainers will be able to create and name teams of up to six Pokémon in their Pokémon collection for quick access when participating in Gym battles and Raid Battles. ~Developer Comments: We’re thrilled to announce that we’re also rolling out the first iteration of battle parties. Battle parties are preset teams of up to six Pokémon that you are able to create and customize to fit your needs. Whether you want to create different parties for frequent Raid Battles, or have battle parties that take advantage of certain weather bonuses, this feature will make it easier than ever to quickly choose which Pokémon you bring to battle. During this beta phase, battle parties will be saved to your device, so you’ll need to reset your battle parties if you get a new device or use multiple devices to play Pokémon GO. Once the feature is fully launched, your battle parties will carry over to each device you log in with. - Pokémon Storage: Trainers will be able to increase the maximum number of Pokémon they can collect in their Pokémon Storage from 1,000 to 1,500 by purchasing Pokémon Storage Upgrades in the in-game shop. !Developer Comments: We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear. With the addition of Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region, the need for more Pokémon Storage is greater than ever. You’ll now be able to store up to 1,500 Pokémon. We’ve also increased the minimum Pokémon Storage size by 50, so all Trainers will soon be able to carry 50 additional Pokémon. —The Pokémon GO team [Read more] |

December 6, 2017 Introducing Weather and 50 Pokémon from the Hoenn Region in Pokémon GO! Trainers, Starting later this week, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and several more Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region in the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games will start appearing in Pokémon GO for the first time ever—with even more to be discovered over the next several weeks! We’ll also be introducing a new dynamic weather system in Pokémon GO that will change the way you and the millions of Trainers around the world discover, catch, and interact with Pokémon. You’ll want to start paying even closer attention to your local weather patterns, Trainers. In addition to the in-game map being updated with cool new weather visuals, weather near you will impact Pokémon in a variety of ways. For example, you’ll find your odds of discovering Mudkip splashing around will greatly improve on rainy days, as certain Pokémon types will be more commonly found during various weather conditions. Additionally, attacks of certain types will be more effective during some weather conditions, so a Charizard’s Fire Spin will perform better on sunny days, for example. Rain or shine, winter or spring, your gameplay experience will remain fresh, making your time outdoors even more exciting. There’s never been a better time to grab your umbrella or snow boots and safely venture outside with family and friends this season. As you explore your local neighborhoods, remember to share a photo of your encounters on social media with the hashtag #PokemonGO. We'd love to see all of your new adventures as they unfold. —The Pokémon GO team [Read more] |

GEN 3 HERE WE COME!! "Gastly, Drowzee, Cubone, and other spooky Pokémon are back again this Halloween, and this time, they’re bringing some special friends! Sableye, Banette, and a few other Ghost-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region will be making their first-ever appearance in Pokémon GO. The rest of the Pokémon first seen in the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games will gradually arrive starting as early as December! We hope Trainers enjoy this special Halloween treat. The Halloween celebration will start on October 20 at 12:00 P.M. PDT and run until November 2 at 1:00 P.M. PDT. A special Pikachu will be out celebrating Halloween in an all-new costume, and you can, too! Dress up your avatar for the occasion by wearing Mimikyu’s Disguise Hat. You’ll also earn extra Candy while you’re out trick-or-treating with your Buddy Pokémon: Candy rewards from catching, hatching, and transferring Pokémon will be doubled, and your buddy will find Candy twice as fast during the Halloween celebration! Last but not least, you’ll have the opportunity to stock up for your upcoming adventures with special boxes from the in-game shop, featuring items such as Raid Passes and Super Incubators. While you’re out looking for Sableye, Banette, and other spooky Pokémon, use your Pokémon GO AR camera to capture festive photos and share them on social media using #PokemonGOHalloween.
