Ness shrugged, placing a new lollipop into her mouth. “Yeah?”

“Why don’t you say hi?”

“You’re so patronizing. You’re not my mom.”

Casey nudged her and padded off again, leaving her sighing in their wake.

“Jerk,” Ness muttered, turning and spotting Simon.

Okay, she had two options; Go over and say hi, or turn and dash off. Actually, the second one felt more appealing, considering she should probably change out of her dripping wet clothes anyway.

She settled for a small wave instead.

Casey was pouting now. “I saw a cute Pokémon!” They protested, brown eyes narrowing ever so slightly. “You can’t pin this on me!”

“I just did! Can’t believe, I blink for one second and everything goes to hell—“

“Oh look! A building!— I’m telling dad you said a bad word— Now you’ll stop yelling at me!” Casey grinned and shoved their little sister through the doors of the restaurant the others were in.

Casey held up their (probably waterlogged) dex threateningly and Ness trailed off, wringing out her hair and grumbling.

“Ah,” Roma nodded again. “Yep! Inkopolis! Capital city or whatever. It’s pretty cool, inklings from all over come to battle and meet each other!” She grinned.

“Yeah. Actually, we were always told that octolings were either nonexistent or evil.” She said hesitantly. “My teachers told me octolings were evil, but my mom always said they didn’t exist. I thought they were myths, but here you are! And you’re not evil either, so my teachers were all stupid.”

“Ah,” Roma nodded. She smiled kindly. “Inkopolis can be your home too, y’know. We’re pretty open.” She offered.

Her eyes brightened momentarily. “Yeah! Now that you mention it, you’re right! Your suction cups are on the outside of your hair! Huh. I didn’t notice!” She grinned.

“Yeah, I have a little brother.” She mused. “He was nice. And nah, don’t worry about it. It’s nice to talk to you. What about you? Do you have any siblings?”

”You literally cannot see, how do you even plan on winning?” Orpheus was asking, watchimg as Connor moved his hand back to the spinner. ”I am being serious. How?”

”Magic.” Riu’s answer was firm, even if his mouth twitched up into a smile.

”No.”

“Left foot— paw— on green.”

Orpheus was grinning wickedly, watching the Lucario flail around for a moment before slamming his left foot on green. The grin fell and he groaned, reaching back to the couch to slap two poke puffs into Dew’s outstretched flower-paw. ”Oh, screw you.” He complained.

It was Dew’s turn to grin wickedly. ”Thank youuu.~” She sang, shooting Riu a mock salute, to which he returned without hesitation.

Roma’s eyes brightened. “Oh! Okay, it’s like.. It’s a game to see who can cover the most turf with your color ink. It’s splt into two teams. I guess this time the stage is Snapper Canal. We just have to wait for eight players to join. Right now, I think there’s four.”

She nodded. “Yeah, you use your weapon. Mine is the dualies.” She held up her weapon(s). “You use them to ink the ground.”

	Lovi had long since purchased his slosher, and was tossing it from hand to hand as he sat outside and waited idly for other people to show up. He’d signed up for a team on Snapper Canal, ready to do anything to have some sort of fun today. Roma was there too, though she’d only just purchased her dualies.
