Chara poisoned himself and made a plan with asriel. chara died, and asriel took his soul, KNOWING that chara wasnt 'suddenly sick' and they both had control of asriel's body

chara, controlling asriel, carried his own body to his old village, and they planned on taking the souls of 6 humans to break the barrier and free all monsters but asriel couldnt bring himself to fight, and he got himself killed.

they both lost their souls and asriel wanted to control timelines to keep frisk forever so he wouldnt lose anyone like chara again, and chara basically just wanted a soul lmao

well not entirely. his motives werent...intentionally bad, he tried to break the barrier with asriel but they failed and his methods are kinda awful

he wants to erase the world now, yeah, and he takes frisks soul, but thats because he had none and wanted to see freedom again basically

sans and papyrus may be related to gaster. Sans is probably closer to him than papyrus though because his weapons are called gasterblasters

However some people are unsure if the blasters belonged to gaster or were created to be used against gaster

I mean he was making a dangerous machine that he ended up falling into and the machine totally erased him. Who's to say he wasn't trying to erase the world and those weapons were created to stop him? After all sans DOES try to stop you from erasing everthing, not just because you killed everyone.

Also sans doesn't die when you 'kill' him in genocide apparently, your kill count doesn't go up

Gaster was 'erased' when he fell into a machine he was making and the machine is unfixable so he cannot be saved. He was supposedly the scientist before alphys and If you play around with the fun values in the game files you can unlock secret rooms where he may appear but you can't do much with him besides figure out his story

if you kill undyne and spare papyrus he'll wait in front of her house for her forever wondering why she's late. Alphys will commit suicide if you kill undyne and/or mettaton
