Easter Egg Spriting Contest 2021

It's that time of year again. The flowers are blooming, the grass is growing, and the Easter eggs are ready for hiding!

Oh, wait, no they're not - we don't have any colored yet! Could you please help us decorate some, for us to hide? Easter Bunnelby will surely appreciate the extra hands.

Our Easter egg hunt will start about a week before the holiday and ends at reset on April 4th - more details on the event will be given when the actual event post is made.

For now, here is the information on decorating some eggs:

Reward

Of course since this is a contest, there has to be a prize! Aside from getting your work featured as a temporary part of the site, the 20 winners will receive 5,000 Event Points.

Those that don't quite make it, but still participated, will receive a participation prize of 1,000 Event Points.

Sprite Requirements - Important! Please read carefully.
Quote from Requirements
Technical Requirements

• All egg sprites must be saved and uploaded in a .png file type. We are not accepting .jpeg, .gif, or any other file type.

• All entries must be digital, and they must be a sprite using pixels. No "drawn" entries.

• All entries must have a transparent background. Entries that have a black, white, or any other color of background will not qualify.

• Please download this blank template to ensure your entry will have the correct size.

(Right click -> "Save image as.." -> Save and Open/Upload to preferred program).

• When uploading, ensure that the site you choose to host your images allows for hosting for more than 30 days (1 month), allows third party viewing, and maintains your entry's transparency. [Suggested upload sites: imgur.com, sta.sh]

• Eggs from previous years may not be re-submitted.

Here are some visuals of do's and don'ts:
Show hidden content
Do's and Dont's

DO .. use pixels. DON'T draw your entry. [We're looking for sprites].
Do: Don't:

DO .. have a transparent background. DON'T have a colored background. [Transparency is important].
Do: Don't:

DO .. make a neat egg. DON'T commit art theft to do so. [That's a no-no].
Do: Don't:

DO .. have a design. DON'T submit a simply recolored egg. [Your entry won't be qualified for any prize].
Do: Don't:

If you have any questions please send them my way, thank you!

Theme Requirements

• Have fun! There are no theme requirements for this contest, be as creative as you want. However, keep in mind:
• These are Easter eggs. Please keep your work within the lines.

• Even if there's no theme, there must still be an actual design. An egg with only one color or just a couple of colors that aren't in some sort of pattern or design, won't be enough to qualify.

Yes you are allowed to change the color of the border. Encouraged to do so!

• In theory, you can submit as many entries as you'd like. But only five eggs of the ones you submit will make it to the staff's voting stage. Please let me know which five of your eggs (if you submit more than five) you would like to go on for voting.

Copyright Statement

• Aside from our provided template, your entries have to be 100% made by yourself.

Pieces of other sprites or art (including official sprites, small icon sprites, item sprites, etc.) are considered art theft and will not qualify for anything, not even the consolation prize.

When you're finished with your entries, please post them here!

Deadline

All entries must be posted here by March 20th, 23:59.
The winning entries will be chosen by us [the staff] based on quality.
The results (should) be revealed on the day the Easter event releases.

That's it! Get pixel painting and good luck. :)

Yes, definitely! They're so rare if you're not chaining them and even then you can have dry spells, I'd just like to know if one's floating around out there somewhere.~

This guide is to explain how to suggest your event ideas to the Spriters in an organized and cohesive manner.

What your suggestion should include.

Your suggestion should contain, at minimum, two pieces of information:
1. A base Pokemon. [While choosing a base Pokemon, keep in mind that we want as little repeated Pokemon as possible. Try picking a Pokemon that doesn't already have an event!]

2. A theme, a character, or some other concept that makes the Pokemon into an actual event. [We are not looking for fusions or recolors].

While not necessary, it would be beneficial to include sketches / drawings of your idea(s). This is the easiest way to get your ideas across to the team. [Note that any idea(s) submitted will most likely receive alterations to the design.]

Please do not submit already made sprites. If you'd like to submit sprites you've already made, please wait until our official Event Spriting Contest rolls around and/or, if you're really in to it, submit a spriter application here in the panel.

Publicly sharing event ideas.

It is important to keep your event ideas as secret! as possible. Please refrain from:

1. Sharing your event suggestions with friends.
2. Posting your event suggestions in the forums.
3. Posting your event suggestions in feeds.

It is also important to remember when uploading sketches/drawings of your suggestion, that all of these are uploaded and stored privately as well. No one should have access to them but yourself and the Spriter team.

Suggested upload sites are imgur.com (with privacy on), DeviantArt sta.sh, or any other site that allows private uploading and viewing.

Any event suggestion that is found to have been shared openly or posted publicly will unfortunately have to be declined.

Where to submit your event suggestions.

All of your event suggestions should be sent directly to one of the current Spriter* staff, via Pal Pad or PM.
*not artist staff (spriters and artists do different jobs on site).

Look for the blue banners that have "Spriter" in them on the Staff list to see who the current Spriters are.

Feel free to send any of your suggestions - I promise no one's going to bite!

Quote from Example (sent in a PM) Hi Furret! I'd like to suggest an event. My idea is: A Hoothoot that is an alarm clock, and a Noctowl that's a grandfather clock. The Hoothoot has a clock face with its face feathers that act like clock hands. It has a wind up key in the back like an old alarm clock. The Noctowl is really fancy, its head feathers turn into a wooden crest, and its wings are decorated with gold. It has a small clock face on its chest and in the stomach, it's a cavity containing a swinging pendulum.

This is an example of what a straightforward and clear event suggestion looks like.

The more information you give us, the better the chance of your suggestion becoming a reality. :)

That's all! Thank you for reading. 💕

@Klepto - right! and that's why the list would update "in real time" meaning; as soon as a Pokemon is added to the pool by spawning in, it would be added to the list, and vice versa: as soon as a Pokemon is caught and taken away from the pool, it will get taken off the list at the same time. ^^

Oooo okay if we went that route I feel that maybe it would just be a circle ○ next to the pokemon then :) I would get confused if there was the shiny star and it not actually being a shiny^^ but singling out the Pokemon you're chaining is a good idea!

Okay, so y'all would want something like this? :>

Box off to the side, mini sprites of each Pokemon present in the zone, would add in more if different Pokemon spawns in and would show the shiny star next to any shinies?

@C0FFee - I thought about that as well but I wasn't 100% sure on how one would go about labeling the rest of the Pokemon in the zone. I do like the idea of a "book mark" sort of deal where you can pick the Pokemon and have it save, but what would be used an icon indicator for the Vivillon and other Pokemon? ^^

Short and simple:

A list of all Pokemon currently present in your zone. Updates in real time, if and when a Pokemon is caught or is spawned in.
A Pokemon you're shiny chaining will appear with a • or some other denoting symbol next to its icon.

Please don't discontinue the helpers.

Hangman is just not a fun game in my opinion. The only reason I play is to gain game chips, but that shouldn't be a bad thing. It may currently be the most consistent way to earn them, but it's still slow. It caps at like, what, 1,500 game chips per correct word? Maybe it's 2,500, but either way.

Considering all the things you would need a lot of game chips for [shiny dog trio, shiny manaphy, all of the shiny mewton, on top of the uncertain ones like lugia's lottery and the magearna raffle, we all really need those game chips & a good, consistent way to grind for them - I don't want to spend the chips I've earned for just a hint, I want to spend those game chips on those over the top expensive Pokemon.

I wouldn't touch hangman again if those helpers were removed. :/
