When the bird returned with Colust's notes, Evander felt glad that they were alright with them coming over. He started to go down the dirt path with the guide of the bird. Evander noticed Horizon's confused look and tried his best to put the image of a fox into words, though he wasn't one who can easily describe things with his tongue. Instead, he sribbled how one would look like in the notebook, the doodle looking close to a child's drawings. If anything, it looks more like a monster rather than a fox.

"Well, they're actually cuter than this. These are the normal ones. The mythical beings normally have different features such as more tails or holding special powers. I've met Kitsunes before in my village and they were really nice too," he rambled until the two reached the village gates, ivy crawling up the stone walls. "I guess we are here. Thanks birdie," he said before the little bird flew off into the trees.

He was warmly greeted and escorted to Colust's office, where he saw another two foxes of which he assumed were also the Chosen Ones.

"H-hello, sorry for the intrusion and thank you for your warm hospitality," Evander said, bowing profusely. He really didn't know how he was supposed to address Colust. He was a leader so he took an extra step and tried to show utmost respect. "We are the Chosen Ones from the Fauns and from the Sirens," he introduced, pointing at Horizon as well. "We haven't recieved clear instructions about where to go for our task. We know of the wyvern through message from my village head, but we were hoping you could give us more clarification on the matter," Evander asked. He also sneaked a small wave towards June and Sol. If they were also chosen, he felt eager to work with them. Maybe he'll get along with them as well as Horizon too.

"The gates of hell open at the sound of my laughter~"

Further away from the capital in a somewhat seperated district, a man pushed through the people hanging around in the cramped alleyways, earning curses and grunts of complaints as he bolted past them, running from what other's couldn't see. It wasn't long before he had reached a dead end in the labyrinth of building walls. Terrified, the man looked behind him, hoping he lost his chaser through the maze.

It was wishful thinking.

"You thought you could run from me in these tight walls? I grew up here, I know this place better than you do. You fell right into my trap," a deep voice teased, giggling at the man's look of fear and despair. He toyed with the blade in his hands as he closed the distance between the two. "You wouldn't have found yourself at death's door if you were a good man and keep those hands of yours to yourself," he added as he snatched the glowing purple crystal out of the man's pockets, the menacing aura itself symbolising a bad omen. "This is one of my precious treasures, and you dare put your filthy hands on it?" he said as he buried the blade into his victim. A scream rang through the area.

"Please, forgive me. I swear I'll never do it again'" the man pleaded through the pain.

"Now, that would be unfair. I've always killed my prey, why would a scumbag like you be an exception?" he tsked, digging the blade deeper, the cries he got was quite melodious to his ears. "Now sing me one last song before you go, won't ya?" he laughed as he pulled the blade out and putting it against the neck.

"What you're doing is a horrible sin. I hope Cloudian's curse falls upon you," the man spat. The killer made a fake surprised face.

"Oh? Acting all mighty before you die? Wow, what a man," he said, slicing through flesh with a quick swipe and watching the man drop to the ground. He wiped the red fluid onto his black jacket with a smile. The thrill of his kill still coursed through his body, resonating in his sick laugh. The onlookers only hid behind the crates and walls, not the least excited to cross paths with him.

Everyone knew him. The devil of the streets, Asmodeus Ichor. Though the bounty on his head was high, enough wealth to live as grand as kings in fact, the task of capturing him was double the pay. With many bounty hunters dying before him, no one dared to challange him. And so, he walked through the dull streets without much to worry about, whistling a merry tune.

"Hey, are you the fabled 'devil' going around the streets?" A voice whispered. Asmodeus turned to see who spoke to him. A man wearing a long black coat, the hood conceling their face. Asmodeus smiled.

"I see I'm quite famous. What have you heard about me?" he asked.

"A cold-hearted criminal, killing with no mercy. Is that true?"

"Why of course, did you not hear the beautiful song from my last dying prey just a few seconds ago?" Asmodeus hummed. The man let out a shiver through his crazy words.

"I havem which is why I have a task to ask of you," the man started. Asmodeus raises an eyebrow.

"Oh? And what makes you think I'd do as you say?" he questioned. The man showed Asmodeus a suitcase full of bars of shimmering gold. Asmodeus smirked.

"Is that it? But, oh well, I'm in a good mood today, I guess that will do," he whistled. "So? What's the deal?"

"I have this person I need to rid, near the capital of Snavia. Most of my hired killers have failed so you're my only hope. Bring his head to me and all this gold is yours," the man explained. Asmodeus almost jumled in excitement at the mentions of another killing spree. Oh, this will be fun.

"Deal, now who's this poor person you're hoping to see dead?" he asked. The man handed him a picture. A boy, quite bright and beautiful, with the face of angels. Asmodeus was slightly taken aback at why he wanted the boy deas, butnhe didn't question it. He nodded and dissapeared into the shadows and made his way to the center of Snavia in search of his new target.

The boy was pretty, his white hair would be dazzling in the sunlight to match with his golden eyes. Too bad, he'll have to dye it red instead.

Now, Asmodeus stood on the roofs of the buildings, seeing the commotion happening below, watching the confused child being chained and shown to the people as a curse. It was so stupid and silly Asmodeus couldn't help but let out a cackle.

"I can't believe noble people have the brains of a chicken. Blaming a child is so stupid, it would be more reasonable if you blamed me instead," he laughed from the rooftops. He didn't care about the stares of the crowd, he was having way too much fun. He scanned the flood of people in the are and caught a glipmse of snow white hair. He smiled.

There he was~

The stained glass windows spilled it's marvelous colors onto the white tiles of the library like paint decorating a canvas. The faint outlines of the angels reflected by the light bathed the boy in it's golden warm glow as he skimmed through the pages of the book, his other hand writing notes with a quill. He pushed the rim of his golden glasses up as he jotted, word by word, of the facts he needed for his current research.

"Hello, Raziel, still searching about the cursed runes I see?" a familiar voice popped up besdies him. He broke his focus with the book and saw the librarian taking the spot besides him, peering over at his notes. "You need to stop being so serious about it, take a break somtimes, ya know?" she added. Raziel smiled warmly.

"This research is really important and the capital leader is in great need of more information regarding this matter, I shouldn't let them down," he sighed as he marked his last reading spot and packed his things, preparing for yet another excursion to the Snavia borders to inspect the runes. "Well, I should get going now. See you tomorrow," he waved to the lady, lifting his satchel filled with books out of the building.

"Be careful out there!" she replied worriedly, knowing how dangerous life was for the boy. Raziel only gave her a reassuring smile before making his way out of the doors. He was met by two black suited men who took their places alongside him. The boy sighed. He hated this, hated pulling other people into his troubles, but there wasn't much to be done. He continued his way through the busy town streets.

Suddenly, the vibrant bustle of the town was shattered by the blare of the alarm horn. Surprised, Raziel stopped in his tracks and watched as people started to gather at the center. He didn't like having to postpone his excursion to the borders, but he decided he's better follow the flow and merged with the crowd.

Only to be met with a rather disaapointing sight. A human child to be blamed for such serious matter? It was wild to think about it. Since he was researching the area, he waa itching to ask what evidence they had to claim the child was at fault and he was about to question it.

Until a rather taunting voice rang out from the rooftops. He looked up to see who dared speak to the high powers like that.

He was met with scary crimson red eyes that made his blood freeze. He recognised the look too well. The glare of a predator buring with the intention to kill. The man smiled darky at him, taking out a blade from his pocket and twirling it around his fingers, the soft clank of metal hitting metal echoed too loud in his ears as the blade brushed at the chains on his hand. Everyone else seems oblivious to the looming threat and the last thing Raziel wanted was to pull the entire town into danger. He slowly backed away, the two men with him following suit.

"Threat identified," one whispered as the three retreated from the busy area. One of them readied their guns to shoot and defend the boy.

It took a matter of seconds, it only took the blink of an eye before both men dropped to the ground, not even given a chance to scream. Raziel stared in horror at the dead bodies. His breathing was suddenly cut off as the person choked him and dragged him to a quieter alleyway, out of earshot of the crowd. He coughed as the grip let him go, looking up at the man.

His red eyes glowed in the shadows as he kneeled down to see Raziel's face. A tear was starting to form on the boy's eyes. The man scoffed.

"Please, I didn't do anything and you're crying already?" he laughed. Raziel winced as the tip of the knife grazed his skin.

"You look familiar," the boy muttered, earning a rather pleased chuckle from the other person.

"It's Asmodeus. Carry that name with you and tell all the residents in hell about me while you're on the way up there will ya?" Asmodeus smirked. Raziel let out a small laugh.

"Yeah, sure, I will," he answered. Asmodeus cocked his head in confusion.

"Aren't you scared that I'm about to slit your throat?" he asked. Raziel shrugged.

"I am, I am scared of what lies for me after death. I still have much to achieve too and plenty to care for," he sighed. "I don't want to die, but I'm sick of people losing their life for me," he continued, looking at the two corpses in the distance. "Even if I didn't kill them, I feel like a murderer. I feel like I was responsible for all the deaths that happened for my sake and it's killing me," he went on, his voice starting to break a little. He looked at Asmodeus straight in the eye.

"So, I wouldn't mind if you killed me. It'd just stop this madness," he ended, smiling at Asmodeus. The killer met his gaze, staring right at his sould before he withdrew the knife with a scoff,

"Forget it, a prey who does not struggle is no fun game," Asmodeus complained, returning the blade to it's small sheath. "I think I'd rather watch you suffer for a little longer," he added as he brushed Raziel's hair to examine his eyes, the golden color reminding Asmodeus about the rewards of piles of gold bars.

"Say, what's your name? You have mine so I must know yours too," he inquired. Raziel gulped.

"Raziel Lux," he simply answered.

"Quite nice. I like it," Asmodeus comlimented, standing up. "Well, I'm going now. You better watch your back, Raziel," he hummed playfully as he dissapeared into the shadows. Raziel looked at the empty spot for a moment for putting his head in his hands.

Another two lives lost. Another two innocent humans taken because of him and there will be more to come. Raziel started feeling sick. He sat there while his voices screamed at him for all the deaths he caused.

For the millionth time, the boy wished yet again for his death to come faster.

Evander scammed through the words and wondered how living underwater must be like. There would be so many beautiful coral reefs to swim through and plenty of aquatic creatures to talk to. Evander caught himself daydreaming again.

When Horizon asked him about his home, Evander's bright face seemed to have darkened a little.

"I live in the mountains, though I wasn't born there. My childhood was spent in the beautiful meadows in between the forest and the mountains. It was just me and my parents, we weren't born into the herd. We stayed in our little cottage until..." his voice faded, uneasy in recalling the events of that terrible day. He shook his head and moved on. "Anyway, I ended up having to move to the village on top on the snow-capped mountains as I lost my parents. It wasn't all that welcoming. Both the weather and the people there were cold to me and I didn't like it there," he admitted. "It's nice to be away from that place for once, I could use some fresh air," he ended, looking to the dense trees beyond them.

"I guess the Fox Territory is somewhere nearby, maybe the leader can give use more things to work on," he said changing the topic, stepping into the forest after fighting the stinging nettles.

Evander was greeted with bird songs and the sound of tiny creatures moving through the trees and shrubs. Almsot as if the animals were awaiting for his arrival as birds, rabbits and squirrels circled around him with offerings such as nuts and berries. Evander took them all gratefully, trying his best to give undivided attention to every small creature and almost forgetting about Horizon for a moment.

"Ah, that's so much. Thank you!" Evander thanked cheerfully. He took the oppurtunity to ask one of the birds a favour. "Could you lead us to the Fox's territory, or to any Chosen Ones in the area?" he asked. The feathered being let out a chirp and flew off, guiding the pair through the maze of trees. Meanwhile, another one has departed straight to the leader's place to inform them about Evander's arrival, sitting at the windowsill of Colust's office with Evander's small note in it's beak.

Though slightly late, Evander caught up to the fact that the newcomer couldn't speak to him as most of his replies came in nods or head shakes, his face expressing worry about letting out his voice. It took him a little while, but Evander figured out his name soon enough.

"Horizon? Is that your name? It's beautiful," he complimented. "Though, I think it'll be quite difficult to talk to each other this way," he sighed. At that moment, Ramu walked up to him and bit at his satchel, hinting the boy to open it. Evander complied and scanned through the bag contents. Dry food, some clothes and other necessities filled the pack, but one item stood out from the rest, sandwhiched between the clothes.

A small leather notebook and a pen sticked out at him and a light bulb lit up in Evander's head.

"Can you write? It'll be easier to talk through this book. Here," he said, handing the book over to Horizon, the golden outlines of the papers seems to be glowing in the sunlight. Ramu also circled Horizon, showing him it is happy that he got along well with Evander.

However, the crackle of thunder brought Evander back to reality, the storm clouds getting closer to the shore and the howl of the wind getting louder with every passing second. The weird rocks seem to be shining in delight over the incoming storm. Evander sighed again, it was time to go.

"I guess we should start finding the others, or that dragon..." he said, though he silently hoped he wouldn't cross ways with the fugitive since he wasn't the best at fighting and he was just too lazy to face them. So he started his way towards the woods, towards the meeting ground, hoping to meet more of the Chosen Ones along the way.

"So, where did you come from? How is your place like?" he asked Horizon, trying to get to know his new friend better. Oh, did Evander loved the sound of the word 'friend'. It felt close to a dream for him to finally have one after years of being isolated by the herd.

Evander had seemed rather pleased with the stranger's reaction. His eyes shown bright to match his cheerful smile. No one in the village ever acknowledged his presence, let alone wave at him with such a friendly face. He found the courage to reveal himself, no longer hiding behind Ramu for protection, though many doubt that Ramu wasn't much of a shield in the first place. Not many know the tiny ram's secret power.

"I'm Evander, nice to meet you!" he greeted cheerfully, a contrast to his usual bored and sad demeanor. The idea of finally having someone to share all his worries and burdens with, maybe take walks and naps with him, overjoyed him. Though, he knew he shouldn't have such high hopes. This world easily decieves people after all.

"So, I am guessing you are also one of the chosen ones? Do you happen to have any idea on what to do?" Evander asked, hoping the newcomer brought along some information about what they were supoosed to do. Before the other had time to react, a cry rang through the air and Evander turned back to see a white owl heading straight towards him, wearing the small chains holding a ram shaped pendant, showing that it was the official messenger owl from the village. The bird landed on his shoulders and gave him the letter before looking at Ramu, it's huge yellow eyes asking for some compiments for the boy after flying such a long distance. Evander smiled at it.

"Thank you, you have done well," he nodded, stroking the feathered creature, which let out a content hoot before it took flight to return to the mountains. The boy slowly opened the letter to recieve some slightly concerning words, reading them out loud.

Chosen One,

The leaders have been informed that a fugitive dragon is on the run, bringing the shard of the dark crystal with it. Fate has appointed the task of retrieving the item from the wyvern to the Chosen Ones. However, be wary and cautious as the stone itself holds dangerous powers. Please seek aid from the other chosen cretures. The information of the agreed location is disclosed in this letter.

Signed, the Village Head

"Speak of the devil," he muttered, folding the letter away and shoving it into the satchel. "I guess we have to go get that dragon, right? Well, after finding the others," Evander said to the newcomer. "Also, could I have the pleasure of knowing your name? Can we be..." he hesitated before he blurted it out nervously.

"Can we be friends?" Evander asked hopefully.

Being stuck in the village had made Evander forget the layout of the lands beyond the border, his memories of the routes to the lands of the other creatures unclear. Unsure of where to head off to, he decided to follow the river, walking alongside it in hopes of finding some guidance. He hasn't been given specific instructions on what to do for now so he decided to take it easy.

Maybe he may find a good spot somewhere for a nice nap until fate decides to burden him with a task he never asked for. He walked alongside the rushing waters, Ramu tagging alongside him.

Eventually, the terrain slowly changed and the grassy lands slowly shifted to a sandy field. The river seems to have become smaller as he neared the bigger body of water, the strong smell of saltwater almost assaulting his nose and the crash of the waves echoing in his ears. He took his eyes off the ground to see the vast ocean beyond, the view was pretty but the dark clouds looming were dampening the beauty. Just as it had affected the mountains, it seems as though the beach has also been dulled by the dark skies, the clouds signaling that a storm may be coming. Seeing no other reason to stay there, he decided to venture off to the forest instead to hopefully find yet another chosen one to guide him throughout his tedious excursion.

However, he noticed the weird rocks littering the sandy shore. The dark purple gemstones, though captivating, let out a menacing aura with the small wisp of shadows dancing around the crystals. The crystal almost pulled him towards it, calling out for him. He took small steps closer until he was only a finger length away from the rock, his hands outstretched to feel the smooth stone.

"Stop!" two small voices echoed into his head before Ramu had shoved the boy away from the stone, the ram glaring at the purple glow, while a hermit crab scuttling nearby pinched Evander out of his daze.

"Those crystals are dangerous! Please stay away from them," the hermit crab told him, Ramu nodded in agreement to the warning. Evander nodded.

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind, thanks," he replied to the animal. The crab waved it's pinchers at him before he scuttled away, retreating to the safety of the sand. Evander got up and dusted his pants to clean himself of the sandy grains that got stuck to his clothes. As he readied himself to leave he was met with the sight of another person, who looked like they just appeared out of thin air, the water droplets clinging to his beautiful seafoam-colored hair. Evander looked at the newcomer awkwardly, knowing he might've seen him talking to a crab was embarrassing.

"H-Hi," he said, feeling the urge to hide behind Ramu and dig his head in the sand.

After long minutes of waiting, one of the leader's assistant finally arrived, bringing along a satchel packed with items. He dropped the pack, heavy might Evander add, onto his lap and nearly crushed the sleeping Ramu if Evander wasn't quick enough to lift the sheep out of the way.

"Hey! You almost hit Ramu!" Evander scolded, his sudden anger shocking the man, though it wasn't too long before the boy recieved a kick in the side. The force of the hit made Evander wince, but he still protected Ramu in his arms, even while the animal was trying to twist out of his grasp in rage over how the boy was being treated.

"Know your place, you may be the chosen one but that doesn't mean that'll change the way we see you," he spat. "Now get up, it's time for you to leave," he ordered, opening the door for Evander to walk out. The boy sighes and carried the satchel and the angry ram with him as they left the mansion and entered the village's main street.

There wasn't so much people to send him off, most went home with disinterest of the boy. Those who did come probably just joined to insult him as he made his last steps into the outskirts of the village. As much as it hurt him, he held back his sadness as he reached the towering wooden gates. The village leader awaiting him at the opening.

"Good luck on your journey, chosen one," he said. Though Evander didn't hear those words. Instead, the leader's voice sounded more like I don't care if you die while you're at it. He wasn't allowed a chance to speak before he was pushed out of the borders and heard the hasty shut of the gates bebind him. He looked back the village one last time, feeling a mix of emotions from whatever he experienced, before descending down the mountains.

Beyond the snow capped mountains waa a lush green field. The boy used to come there often before the village had set boundaries that they had to stay in. He remembered picking the flowers with his parents and singing tunes with the birds.

But the two were no longer here. They weren't here to shower him with their love anymore.

He sat by the river, holding Ramu in his lap again while watching the crystalline waters. A few colors could be seen and soon, he saw one loop around his dipped feet. Looking closely, he saw a rather colorful fish, it's tiny eyes looking up at him. Evander smiled.

"Hello! You're really pretty," he complimented. Most people would think he's crazy talking to animals, but not all people know he could understand them and vice versa. The fish leaped out of the water in happiness and Evander heard a little voice.

"Thank you!" replied the fish before it swam away, carried by the water currents.

Life has always been cruel to him.

First, his parents had abandoned him to the ruthless streets for the little boy to put up with the pain the world has to offer. Next, his friends, the only ones who helped him through the living hell were slaughtered in front of him. He ended up back to square one, standing alone against each wave of suffering.

Until he broke, until he lost himself. Lives were taken, rules were broken and he found himself on the top wanted list of criminals, a huge bounty on his head.

He was fed up with the dull life, fed up with letting it beat him down. "Two can play at this game"

History:

Like the other children living near the capital, Raziel was expected to be able to meet the high requirements of the Capital. Raised in a wealthy family, though a dream for many, wasn't such a smooth ride for the boy. Conflicts, fights and murders were to be expected over the family's pool of wealth, Raziel himself experiencing a near-death incident just for a few blocks of gold he didn't own, with the one pointing the knife being his own uncle. He never saw him again.

To run from the family problems, Raziel drowned himself in books, keeping himself away from the negativity while focusing on the wonders the world has in store. Books became he form of escapism, making him an avid reader and the Capital library's daily visitor. Books lined the walls of the boys room, he carried a few everywhere in his bag, he was literally tied to them.

He was his parent's joy, the most successful in the family lineage, getting himself into high instituitions despite the extreme competition in the Capital. This led to the burning envy from the other family members and, thus, many had plotted to kill him. It came up to the point where he cannot go anywhere, within or beyond his house, without a single bodyguard or he might end up in a coffin. The memories of the many, countless men who had died for him can almost drive the boy crazy with guilt. The number of people who had died so he could live for so long, two of which were his own brothers, only piled up. Their voices almost haunting him in his nightmares.

But they said that he should keep smiling, that at the end of the day, everything will be alright.

And so he smiled, albeit painfully, for the number of lost souls that had fallen for him.
