Ashburn had a wicked smile on his face, as his magic started entering Isake's mind, slowly trying to make Isake accept his proposal, when something made his hand split in half up to the elbow. He thought that either Isake or Mirage did it:

"Okay, which of you did this? If you admit it, I'm going to torture the guilty one to death. If you don't, I'm going to read your thoughts and kill the innocent one to make the guilty one realize what they've done."

He pulled the two halves of his arm back together, forcing the wound to heal itself.
