@Lucrecia
She can be a cutie, but I don't think she's necessarily your "style", no.

She makes a nice patchwork noodle though. :'D

Ohhh, just looked at the previous offspring of my Butterfly Coatl and his current mate... Let me take you on a short trip!

The mates

When I was getting the Butterfly scroll, I was torn on which one of my dragons I should use it on... I think it was Nessy who suggested I use it on the oldest boy in my lair, my beautiful, bright Coatl, Idris. It took a little bit more investment than just 1500 gems for his secondary; I also changed his primary from Clown (which I loved on him) to Cherub (which I like less, but it's more desirable - oh well. One day he will go back to being a jester in a bright green mask - not THAT mask, we're not in the nineties anymore!)

Since none of the dragons in my lair had a fitting color range, or better yet, a secondary gene that would give a 50% chance of passing the gene on, I went to frantically browse through the Auction House in search of... well, if not perfect, then at least a passable mate. And while this dragon wasn't stunning, her primary and secondary colors were fitting, and the tertiary color, with luck, would allow for XYY offspring.

Quickly, I slapped Cherub on her, so as to get rid of the 50/50 of getting Vipera, and she was ready to go! Allow me to introduce, Rara (not to be confused with PH's Rabou).

The hatchlings

350 gems later, their 3 egg strong nest hatched, and lo and behold! Two of the babies carried over their father's wing pattern. Success!

The little butterflies sold quickly, within a short couple hours. They weren't the most handsome babies, but well, the gene was new, people were going crazy over them... and thankfully, due to the exorbitant gem prices, they have not been exalted yet!

The Firstborn

This boy. Just look at this boy. His name ended up being Royal, even though he rolled as Unnamed for the longest while. He has tiny wittle adorable adoptables, and he's been bred. Admittedly his children are all Fae, but still.

The Grandkids

And while three out of four of Royal's kids were exalted due to being Shimmer failures, this beautiful, and I mean it, boy is still around and kickin'! Meet Knight, the handsome Fae! He takes his wings after his granddad. ;v;

Apparently, he's on a nest of two with a beautiful Skydancer lady, so the Dynasty of Buttwings will continue!

@Leanna
He also looks gorgeous as a Cry/Face/Stained Spiral, but that's horribly expensive, so I didn't even want to suggest it, haha. He's got lovely colors though, nice scatter. :'D

@Skylea
I have a spare Shadow egg I could trade for your Light one?

@Leanna
That's a pretty Skydancer!
I am personally a fan of Gold poi/tox, so here's my suggestion (a little expensive though, oops):

Prophaniti:

My other notable Skydancers (I dislike Skydancers, but the FR artists INSIST on making all new genes look -the best- on them, grrr!):

@Kurumi
That's what happens when the community grows. Especially now that the registration windows seem more frequent and last longer. A lot of new people are bound to come and it's quite likely most of them are going to bring bad behavior from other sites over to FR.

Hopefully most of them will either learn or get banned. :'/

@Est
Congrats on hatching your first egg! Too bad about her tert color... buuut, with the new awfully expensive tert gene, she could make a dope diseased dragon.

P.S. Scrying workshop, y u do this to me everytime?
A reasonable Stained random scry (black/beige/beige):

Edit
Would anyone like to buy these RTT dragons at 7.5k each? I can't be bothered to train them to exalt, but I really want to be rid of them.

@Greili
A couple days ago I looked through your for sale dragons, and randomly went to scry one of the 1st gens again...

This girl:

Turned into this eye-burner monstrosity:

The colors fit each other so perfectly!

I really enjoy playing with PoiTox in the scrying workshop waaaay too much. xD

@Giltine
I see what you mean, yeah. I guess everything depends on a person's taste. I like dull colors, for example, so it doesn't bother me much. Besides, having checked the scries for her offspring with Marina, they'd still get a fair share of "edgy" Glimmers and slightly less contrast heavy but still reasonable Staineds.

Ah well, I have a long time to make my choice anyway, since I have to breed change her first before I even think of investing in the tertiary. xD;

Now, I have to say I am actually tempted to get the Stained for one of my 1st gens. She looks way better with it than with Glimmer, which she would have gotten otherwise:

Glimmer:

But that is literally the only dragon I have I'd give the gene to, and only because I'd have given her Glimmer anyway, so... same expense.

I agree with most people's opinion so far - as a gem gene it's ridiculous. As a treasure gene... uninspired, but alright, there's -some- potential there.

But generally, I have expected something entirely different from a gene named "Stained". You know, thick lines partitioning the dragon into "panels"? Each "panel" a slightly different hue, though of course mostly keeping to its color range? Sure, it wouldn't work with primary and secondary genes that already have some heavier lines (like butterfly), but at least it would be slightly more interesting than a plain hue change.

Oh well, maybe the next gene will be better.

@Mikleo
I'll stick with Okapi, since the stripes fit the purplish bits of Poi/Tox perfectly.

I just need to decide which of my dragons to exalt and level 'em to anywhere between 8-12. x.x

@Kurumi
They are cute fat dragonairs, but neither the colors or the genes really grab me much. :'<

Could you hold the Snapper girl for me for a bit?
For the last couple months I've been quietly lurking, looking for a Snappie to join my crew, and I like her (though I'd give her Poi/Tox instead of Pie/Paint), but I am clogged. D:

Ahh, got to hatch another of my 2-egg nests~

Another two boys, Imps this time, almost twins.

This one is so handsome!

His brother:

Both up for sale. First boy can be claimed for free to a non-exalt home.
Otherwise, I'm asking 8k for the first boy, 5k for the second.

So, I've managed to hatch one of the three 2-egg nests that have been waiting to hatch for about a week.

In it were these two Pearlcatcher boys:

Watercress

Unnamed (I really like this boy, actually. He's a patoot)

If anyone's interested in them, I can sell them for 4k each. If not, they'll probably be exalted when they grow up~
