Jack looked around, taking in the surroundings. It was cold, but nothing unbearable. He completed a full circle, nodded once to himself and then set off after Sliuril.

"I wouldn't rule it out of the realm of possibility." The Lucario grinned, stepping into the mall. He looked around and gave a low whistle. "They don't mess around, huh?" He scanned around until he found the item shop.

"Yeah, give it here. I'll go get them." He said, taking the bag. He stared into the bag for a moment, glanced at the other two Pokémon sleeping and set off towards the mall. He'd eat there and bring back as much as he could for the others. He supposed he should also get them something to drink.

Hunter batted his ears and frowned at the noise Katu was making. Eventually, he sighed and opened his eyes. "Good morning." He said and then looked around at the fog. "If you'll excuse the massive lie I just uttered. Toss a berry here, then." He grunted, getting up and stretching with a sigh.

Hunter had walked around town and found nothing of note. After a while, he had decided to return to the fountain for the night. He'd settled down into a deep meditation, not entirely asleep but not quite awake, to regain his strength. Now, with the coming of morning, he switched to a lighter meditation, his ears flickering for any sound, but didn't yet open his eyes. His equivalent of "five more minutes".

"Very well." Jack nodded. He thought over the events of the previous few days. The Crawler, the attack in the Shadelight Cavern, the assault on Aurora, the trip North, the injury of the King. Beneath his mask, he allowed himself a small smile.

He was ready for another round.

"How does one kill an idea?" Jack muttered. "The Titans still exist. To live in the Void is to learn to resist their influence, to not listen to the voices in your head and ignore the shapes in the dark. The only thing that can kill a Titan is another Titan. An idea, so deeply embedded in the universe that if it were to be desteoyed it could change everything. They battle each other constantly but only rarely do they fall. There are instances, however. Relatively recently, the one representing humanity's conviction that it was the center of the universe was destroyed. And even then, it finds plenty of minds to live on in."

"It's late." Hunter observed. "If I was a human who wanted to snoop around without being seen, this is when I would choose to do so." He told Katu. "And it's not as if we're doing much besides." The Lucario shrugged. "If you want to remain here, please, feel free to do so. I think I'm going to go have a look around."

Jack thought for a moment. "The Court is an... idea. That's all that anything in the Void was once. Ideas. Feelings. Thoughts, lost in time. Some of those thoughts were stronger than others. Convictions, you could say. The very strongest of them began absorbing others. Through time, a landscape emerged in the Void, built on the shattered dreams of the other realms. Populating them were these creatures of shadow, Shades, not physical but there. And an observer may notice that whenever two of these met each other, they would stand there, locked in a battle of wills. One would disappear while the other would move away, stronger. And this cycle continues for eons, until a few of these creatures gained actual sentience. Intelligence. And then they began working together. And in this way, groups of these creatures, each one larger than comprehension, trampled across the land, absorbing and destroying all. When an idea is powerful enough, it asserts it's form in the real world. These Titans... through time, they became physical. Real, even if the majority of their powers still lay in a mental capacity." Jack paused for thought.

"The King was amongst the first to become physical. And he saw the need to secure his own power. With the massive force of sheer willpower in his possession, he broke down the barriers between realms until he found a way he might manifest properly. And so, a tiny portion of his power formed and was transferred to the First Mask. He willed a human to find it, and so a human did. That is the physical form that the King has today. Mind you, his presence in the Void is still mostly as that of the Titan. And to secure his power in the Void more firmly, he required support. So he took two pieces of his own personality and formed two Shades. He nurtured them until they were Titans and, eventually, became physical as well. Under his instruction, they formed the Second and Third Masks. These became the bearers of the Queen and the Jack. As for Death... well, I think you can make the connection. The Grim Reaper is just a concept, but a very powerful one. It earthed itself in the place where there was a high enough concentration of ideas to do so. The King saw the potential and adopted Death as well. And so the Court was formed. Eventually, others became physical. The King and the Court finished the race in first. Now came the rest of the crowd, all at once. And they all wanted power. And so, physcial form made physical war and fortifications while Titans fought in the background." He paused, thoughtful.

"I must tell you, they're absolutely terrifying. Titans, that is. Even one unleashed on this realm would spell it's destruction. The King, already being physical when he came here, had other, longer term plans."

Jack nodded. "Of course. But there is quite a lot to tell. Is there anything in particular you were curious about?" He asked, tilting his head slightly.

Hunter slowly opened his eyes and then took a few seconds to replay what had been said in his head. The Lucario shrugged. "If everyone is up to it, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing if we can do something." he said.

Jack noticed the change in tone and he could view it contextually as well as anyone else, but he decided not to pursue it. "I see." He nodded. "Thanks for the clarification." He lapsed into silence.

Jack nodded sympathetically. He was sure that there was a joke about sibling rivalry in there somewhere but wasn't entirely confident that it would be appreciated, given the circumstances. "Okay. And just to make sure that I'm entirely up to speed, explain to me the concept of these Guardians. How many are there? Are they chosen or...?" He trailed off.

Eventually, Hunter stopped humming and slipped into a form of light meditation. Waiting, he guessed. The more he thought about the situation, the more hopeless it seemed. They could wait, sure, but for how long? How long before they had to move? He didn't personally like inaction, no matter how many methods he'd come up with to make it more bearable.

"Buried her? You..." Jack said, raising an eyebrow, "have a very messed up family." After a moment, he began laughing, thinking about the Court. "Nevermind." He muttered eventually. "Tell me more about Copper." He said, sitting down.

Hunter nodded wearily. Coming up with a plan was all well and good. Carrying it out would be another matter entirely. Who knew when the humans would come back? And the constant shadows he kept seeing in the fog were driving him a bit crazy. With a sigh, he allowed himself to slip down off the rim, so now he was sitting on the floor while leaning against the fountain. He closed his eyes, frowning. After a moment, he began humming very quietly to himself to calm his nerves.

Jack breathed a sigh, both of relief and weariness, and turned to Sliuril. "Okay. You were here to help me deal with the Crawler. My turn. What's the plan?" He asked.

"The humans..." Hunter muttered. "They had to be here for a reason. They only left once..." He paused to think some more. What had caused them to leave? The fact that they'd been attacked by a bunch of Pokémon? Or the fact that they'd caught two of the ones that had attacked?

"And as for where they went..." He muttered to himself, remembering the portal. "It can't be nearby, that's for sure. So we find more humans. Take whatever they used to open the portal off them." He said idly.

Suddenly, the King stood up decisively. "We must be getting back to the Void." He told the assembled Court. Jack bowed.

"My King, I request your leave to remain in this realm." He said.

The King huffed, and walk forward to pat him on the shoulder. "You do as you please, Jack. I learnt that long enough ago. You two..." he looked at the Queen and Death and then jerked his head. They both nodded and disappeared. Then the King turned to the others in the room.

"I'll look forward to seeing all of you again." He said.

He left as well.

Hunter looked at Katu. "Thanks." He nodded, gabbing a berry. He chewed thoughtfully. "Hey, you should probably rest or... something." The Lucario added, feeling bad about letting her go and get food for them. Then he went back to thinking. He looked at Aino. "Perhaps. Perhaps." He muttered.
