Mel blinked rapidly, fighting off the tears because why the hell was he apologizing when this whole damn mess was her fault in the first place? Hesitated, she reached out and then let her hand fall, opening and closing her mouth several times, blue eyes wide. “See?” There was Connor, holding Simon close to his chest with a bright smile. “I told you everything would be okay.” “I’ll stay.” It was Connor’s turn to blink. “What?” “I said I’ll stay. I’ll stick around. Just to make sure everyone’s okay, or whatever.” Mel scowled, turning away to hide the extra brightness in her eyes. ”I think I broke my entire chest.” Pom decided cheerfully. ”How’re you doing?” Riu snorted, standing and shaking his arm out. ”.. A-okay. Probably. I’ll feel something tomorrow.” He tilted his head to the side, shaking dirt off of his ears. ”You okay, Aite?” “You look happy.” Connor mused, looking down at Mel, who was facedown on the ground. She held up one hand in a thumbs-up sort of gesture. “Ya-huh. Feelin’ great. I think I broke my ribs.” She grunted, pushing herself to her feet. The fight was over; Now what? She could always pull a vanishing act and get out of there quickly. She had the minor skillset for it. Or she could stay, thank Tiger for not letting the grunt kill her, and then flee. Yeah. She was on her feet in a second, reaching into her backpack for anything, now that the griseous orb was discarded halfway across the battlefield. Her textbook was the first thing her hand made contact with and she swung it, ducking around a few grunts to slam her foot into their knees. — ”Actually, who the heLL decided to bring a Garchomp?—“ Pom slid back a few feet, tails up to defend against he constant blows from the dragon type. ”Keep it distracted!” “YoU CAN’T SEE DON’T—“ Pom protested loudly, swiping at the Garchomp before leaping back again, watching it flail around for a moment. ”I know what I’m doing!” And then Riu was there with Dew clinging to his shoulder, bringing a glowing red bone down on the Garchomp. It went down with a sickening thud, dragging the other two Pokémon with it. Dew groaned, Riu burst into laughter, and Pom genuinely couldn’t help but grin. [Read more] |

Dew yowled some sort of war cry and drove her left foot into a pokemon’s stomach, sending them reeling away from her. Pom burst into laughter, using swift on a nearby grunt. Somewhere behind them, Simon was on Riu’s head, forming a rather powerful night slash before leaping forward, whilst Riu grumbled a bit and used metal sound. [Read more] |

If there was one thing Dew could do, it was run. Her speed stat was a lot higher than the rest of Mel’s team (with the exception at Amatseru; where even was he?), so she could handle the quick hitting thing. Which was good for teamups, especially with Pom. Both Dew and Pom were pressed together, though the two of them had always gotten along relatively well. So they were just fine. And Riu had vanished from Mel’s line of sight (Okay, she’d admit it, that was a little concerning) but he’d been fine for the whole fight; he would be okay for a little while longer. Besides, he was pretty fast too. [Read more] |

She’d grown up trusting her family; why stop now? She wrenched the griseous orb out of her backpack and lobbed it at a grunt. It made contact and the grunt fell back hard, hitting the ground. That was it. That was her whole plan. ”DUCK!” What little self-preservation remained kicked in and she ducked down, allowing Riu to throw a bone in her direction and knock over the remaining grunts. ”Gee, that sounds familiar.” Dew snarked, crawling off of Mel’s shoulder and landing on Riu’s. A quiet exchange between the two and Riu was off again, this time forming a glowing red bone and slamming it into an enemy Pokémon’s stomach. (Dew would never admit that she cheered.) “Fine. Yes, I’m still not over what happened because it was totally my fault and they should hate me and if they didn’t I’d be genuinely concerned for their mental stability and— Excuse me?” Mel sighed. “Look, I’ll have you know that nobody can help when they have breakdowns. It’s actually— DeW STOP BEING A JERK THAT’S NOT OKAY— a very common thing for normal people— I’m rambling. Okay. Fine. Yes, I’m here because this is my world and I’m going to do everything I can to help, whether this group likes me or not. Because I don’t need their approval. Screw Sol, screw Kyogre, forget them. I’m here because whether they like it or not, I care about these idiots a lot. There. I said it. So if I can maybe help them not die, I’ll consider it a win.” She gruffed, swinging her arm to the side in a flurry of gestures. “.. I just talked a lot. Sorry, Akio.” ”But it’s soooo much fun to torture him!” Dew was protesting, wide-eyed and innocent. ”You’rE SUPPOSED TO BE MY EYES, NOT MY ARMS.” Riu argued back. ”Freckles,” “Excuse me?” “I’m your freckles.” “You’re actually ridiculous, you know that?” The Lucario was scowling heavily now, lifting both paws to launch and aura sphere off. Shut up and let me be positive!” Mel took a large step to the side, away from Connor and turned her head barely to see Akio in the corner of her eye. “Look, if you’re going to tell me Tiger still hates me, fine. So be it. But that’s the least of my concerns right now. Okay? Thanks. That’s all. What does he need? “Aura sphere!” Both Pom and Riu charged forward, though the Lucario paused halfway and threw the sphere before Pom skidded to a halt to use her own attack. “Yes!” Connor cheered, bursting out of the treeline behind the Pokémon, green eyes widening immediacy upon spotting Kyogre. “.. I changed my mind. I’d like to go home, now.” “That’s what I!— Ugh.” Mel groaned and dragged herself out after him, totally unfazed by the giant legendary whale. “Forget it. “Kyogre.” Mel’s voice was exhausted of its usual spitfire. “We gotta get up there. Like. Now.” She insisted. Connor nodded and reached back to grab her wrist, green eyes bright with some kind of childish hope. “You’re coming this time, right?” And Mel? Mel was weak when it came to family. “Yeah.” With Riu somewhat behind her and Dew on her shoulder, Mel allowed Connor to pull her along the trail. Because what else was family for? She was lucky.
