On Saturday the 6th of February 2021, three new updates were made on site.
About 7 new rules were added and 3 rules were modified.
No more surprise adding to a palpad group; all raffles have to be approved by mods; an extended explanation about cheating; and more. Please read here for more.
Until Valentine's Day, 14th of February, Trainers can interact with Pokémon and buy plushies for others in order to collect Sweet Hearts.
If you have sent out at least 5 Valentine's Cards to 5 different users, you'll get a new Event Pokémon the next day! The more cards you have sent, the higher the chance you can receive the shiny version of the Event Pokémon.

The amount of Sweet Hearts you receive by interacting and buying plushies for others is random.

Roleplay Weekly

its been a long year the last few weeks. The main reason we haven't had a roleplay section the last 3 weeks is because Anemonia is taking a semi hiatus so the first week was her week. The second and third however were because my interview person never finished the interview I'm not pointing fingers but Hipster, we gotta finish that interview. Plus, a new roleplay started up that I've been busy with. But I'm back so…. ya


Interview with a Roleplayer


Earlier this month week, I interviewed Finhawk. Since I didn't learn from my mistakes last time, I interviewed this semi-lit roleplayer who roleplays with users such as Llorona. The reason I say I didn't learn from my mistakes however is because them being a semi lit roleplayer, their answers made YungRover's from my last interview look short. And cus I'm lazy, I'm not editing them, XD

Q: What goes into the characters you make? For example are they based off of anyone you know?

A: My characters are never based off of any real people, no. Usually I just start with a simple concept and flesh it out from there. For example, with a roleplay that has a defined setting or conditions the character must meet, I start with that. If you have a RP of a magic school where you're the students, the simple character pitch given to you is: "A child/teenager with magical abilities who attends a special magic school to learn to control their powers." You can do a more general personality or background pitch of what kind of character you'd like to play to accompany that to start. Something like "A cheerful young boy from a poor family," "Snobby rich girl who feels obligated to keep up family appearances," "Anger and magic control issues," or "Fears magic." From there, you start asking questions. Stuff about who their family was, how and where they grew up, what their magic powers are and how they ended up discovering those gifts and enrolled in the school, and how all that affected who they are as a person. How the magic school life has affected their personality so far, how their personality affects how they view their learning environment and their experiences with their peers, and how that again affects who they are as a person. Where they are in life right now and what do they want, and how they're going to get it. So I guess the point is that I think it's important to develop the character's personality together with their background. ...I'm not sure how much that makes sense or how well it answers your question though. I just think people are interesting so I like creating characters and figuring out why they are who they are and why their life is the way it is. :,]

Q: Out of all of your characters past or present, who would your favorite be and what roleplay were they in?

A: Heh, my favorite character I've created would probably be my first D&D character, a human fighter with the soldier background, so a very basic and simple concept. I ended up fleshing him out a lot with time and built a lot of backstory for him and I grew really attached to him. In terms of forum RPs, hm, perhaps a character from an off-site pirate RP similar to One Piece. An easily distracted doofus with bad memory and a treasure hunting cartographer who was in search of his homeland. A more cute and light-hearted fun character. From PH roleplays, I'd prooobably go with a character I created for RWBY RP back in... 2016. Huh, it's been a while. He was a socially awkward sneaky assassin type backstabbery kind of fellow who just really wanted to make friends even though he didn't really know how.

Q: Has there ever been a roleplayer you have enjoyed working with the most?

A: Yeah, Giltine13 is a good friend and a great roleplayer so I've really enjoyed our RP shenanigans together when we've had them. She has such fun and spicy characters that she gets really invested in and develops in-depth, which is phenomenal since characters are really the most important thing in an RP for me. My RP partner(s) also having well-developed characters tends to encourage my own desire to pick apart my characters' psyches further as well. Bouncing my characters off hers and figuring out how they work or don't work together can be such a delight. :,]

Q: What has your favorite roleplay on this site been so far?

A: I'd say that RWBY RP I mentioned earlier. It had a collection of some great people I enjoyed chatting and roleplaying with and plenty more potential than we managed to explore before it died. A fate sadly too many RPs face.

Q: What has your favorite moment from roleplaying on Pokeheroes been?

A: I don't think I can point to a single moment as my favorite. However, I'd probably have to go with the one time I ran an original RP of my own that I started way back in 2014. It wasn't the greatest RP ever and my world and plot weren't the most genius and original, but I put a lot of work into that RP. It was cool having people be interested in the world I had created myself and bring their own voice into it. It just feels great having people engage with your creative work enthusiastically.

Q: If you had to tell someone why they should roleplay, what would u tell them?

A: I'd tell them they should roleplay if they want to roleplay. :b If creating characters and stories and worldbuilding is your cup of tea, roleplaying can be a really fun hobby and use of your time with the right people. Even if it turns out not to be your jam, trying it out won't hurt at least. Most likely.

What Really Grinds My Gears
You wanna know what grinds my gears? Saying "I cant pick one" or "God, it's so hard to pick" and then half a second later picking one or saying something. It doesn't really grind my gears but its something I just find funny, especially in movies or irl where its like they dont know but then answer like they have a friggin list that they memorized

On the 8th of January Moderator CatLady announced that a new art contest has started. In this contest users can compete against each other about who drew the best background for our site, among everybody else's!
The format has to be in 1920 x 1080 px (width x height). About 877px wide it's covered with the middle part, aka the site and gameplay itself.
It ends on the 29th of the same month.
In order to submit, you need to send her a Private Message or short 'PM', send picture/s viewable for third parties, and write into the Thread "Entry/Entries Submitted".
Don't submit it into the Thread already, otherwise your submission won't be counted!


The 23rd of January brought news about Mega Slowbro sprites and a new event line! Fitting to their spring, summer and autumn variation.

Happy (late) new year of 2021! 2020 sure was one heck of a roller coaster ride, and I'm more than glad a near era has dawned upon us. If we're lucky, things will get better in time, and our world can start mending some of the issues that have come up lately. Hopefully, the PH Times columns that we put out have helped to take away some of the sting. <3

What goes into the characters you make? For example are they based off of anyone you know?
This is super embarrassing to admit, but I usually roleplay certain characters from my hyperfixations so I really don't have very much creativity when it comes to actual original characters ahaha. The few characters that are made by me kind of have a mind of their own I find, mostly because I'm neurodivergent and thus operate slightly differently from most people. I give characters a name and they usually take shape on their own. Songs that I listen to definitely help shape some of their personality and other times, if they've been with me long enough, they will become residents in my headspace and begin to tell me things about themselves. It's definitely an exhausting but exciting process

Out of all of your characters past or present, who would your favorite be and what roleplay were they in? if they were off site please include both an on site/off site one
Oh this is hard since I've done so many Roleplays ahaha but I love the chaotic and slightly twisted characters I play. Some of them would be Kardia (Supernatural HG and other various RPs), Floyd (Hotel of Mysteries), Baian Hildebrand (1964) and Hyde (The Age of Darkness). What can I say, playing wild card characters is honestly such a joy

Has there ever been a roleplayer you have enjoyed working with the most?
Tricky question because as long as someone is polite, I enjoy working with almost anyone ahaha. Everyone has their own amazing styles of writing and its such a joy to even read the responses. But our lovely Immortes is definitely one of the best people I've ever done a RP with, her writing really spurs me on to write more and write better. If you have ever been in a RP with her, you definitely know what I mean. The time and effort she puts into all her responses are jaw dropping and well worth the wait. Her enthusiasm for improvement and character building is so infectious too, she really is such a great person to rp with! But honestly, as I said everyone is so talented in their own ways, but I would be damned if I didn't mention these amazing people who've been such a pleasure to work with: Goat~Mum, Sterg, Kamini, ~Fahrenheit~, and Arwen

What has your favorite moment from roleplaying on Pokeheroes been?
Its so hard to choose! Each RP is delightful in its own unique way and there's so many good moments. But some right off the top of my head would be the 20 questions session with Laura and Floyd (Hotel of Mysteries), Leo continuing to compose even though a clocktower is collapsing on top of him (Messages of the Apocalypse), and the Jabberjay Incident (Supernatural HG)

Final question, If you had to tell someone why they should roleplay, what would you tell them?
I probably wouldn't say anything actually. Roleplay isn't for everyone and that's fine. But for some people, those precious few moments where they stop being themselves and don on the skin of someone else just to explore fictional scenarios is very enticing and intoxicating to some. To others, its the biggest turn off. I would only suggest that they try one session with someone they trust and just see what it's like. If you enjoy it, then I encourage you to go ahead and play more but if you don't then there's no harm done. I'm not the type of person to persuade others to do stuff, all I can do is push them to take it out for a trial run and if they like it, then congratulations.

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to this week's edition of….

Roleplay Weekly

Sorry that we’ve been out for a while, had some personal issues that prevented me from doing things. But I’m back now with probably the first of many to come, double interviews! Basically, I was bribed coaxed into interviewing the entire cast of a certain roleplay and to make it so my life is more difficult, I will be showing 2 interviews at once. So……. ya


Interview with a Roleplayer


A few weeks back, I interviewed [color=purple]Riordan- and Sterg. Riordan- is very new at roleplaying to PH however so far they have received much acclaim for their part in Kingdom of Aerya…. Aryaraha? I don't know how to spell it but its that roleplay. Sterg on the other hand is a veteran roleplayer how in a sense is mentoring some of the roleplay I’ve just mentioned less experienced cast members (Note, their things are color coded)[/color]

Q: What goes into the characters you make? For example are they based off of anyone you know?

A: For some of my characters I actually use my own emotions as a base. If I'm feeling intensely lonely for example, I'll make a character who experiences loneliness and maybe finds a way to overcome it. Other times I listen to songs for inspiration which is exactly what I'm doing with Ava. Music can be extremely inspirational for me and I think I have a wide enough taste to not end up with the same character, but I do doubt that sometimes. I don't think I have ever based a character off of someone I know personally, though.

A:I usually like to borrow ideas from many different characters and combine them all to one. But my most recent character was actually based off of an actual person due to my admiration for them.

Q: Out of all of your characters past or present, who would your favorite be and what roleplay were they in?

A: Okay funny story, I have actually never been in an RP before this one, unless you count dnd. If so then my username is the name of one of my dnd characters, as is my current pfp. He was a little far in in the campaign but then some complications happened with the dm and we had to retcon a lot, but hey he still has his elf boyfriend, hobgoblin dad, and dragon girl best friend. I also am very fond of all of my dnd characters, and so far, I like Ava. They seem to really bounce off of Noah and I'm looking forward to their dynamics with the rest of the cast.

A: I've been into so many different kind of roleplays that,truth be told,I've forgotten quite some characters which I'm not proud of. If I had to pick a character,I would choose Laura from Hotel of Mysteries and Joy from Kingdom of Aeraya, both of which belong on this site.

Q: Has there ever been a roleplayer you have enjoyed working with the most?

A: All of my friends have their own charm in my opinion, I wouldn't feel content just choosing one of them to be honest. Waffle is really good at improv and mystery, her dnd dm'ing is honestly one I've never had an issue with (and as far as I know the other players share this sentiment as well). Yara's (max) and Will's (faeran) characters are so intriguing and fun to interact with, I look up to their character writing a lot, I feel like Yara especially excels in original concepts and she can really make an idea flow so well. For Will I think he's great at thinking about the characters feelings and thoughts, almost every action his character makes feels both calculated and organic. Merv (Albanian) is also really great with his characters but I feel especially with his character improv, his characters can have some really Iconic moments. Popplio's writing is generally very great and I really love her descriptions and world building, even her characters are fun and interesting. She can really bring everything to life by herself and I think that's really impressive. I haven't worked with sterg a lot yet but I'm enjoying it so far!

A: Most definitely! Tsukoyomi has been an incredible roleplayer who always has just the right vocabulary and emotion combined in order to create the perfect post that he blesses us with. Another amazing bunch is Kamini, -Faeran, Popplio, Waffle, Riordan- and Corviknight. I really enjoy roleplaying with them.

Q: What has your favorite roleplay on this site been so far?

A: Reading wise? I'd say the 955 page sonic roleplay that Will made when he was like 10. It's honestly such a fun read you can go ask him about it ! And so far I'm really enjoying the one I'm in.

A: I always catch myself reading the 900 page Sonic RP we made when I was 10 (yes that's its actual name) but when it comes down to roleplays I took part in, I would have to say that Kingdom of Aeraya seems perfect. It has the perfect roleplayers for it and we even casually chat on our groupchat which helps us get along even more!

Q: What has your favorite moment from roleplaying on Pokeheroes been?

A:So far I really like the general dynamic between Thea and Rosaline, Tirik and Opal, and Noah and Ava. For a specific moment, I liked Noah hiding behind Ava because it looks so comical in my head.

A: I don't really have a favourite moment from my vast roleplaying experience,they're all equally thrilling.

Q: If you had to tell someone why they should roleplay, what would u tell them?

A: Personally I'd recommend it because of how fun it is, especially with friends (: it can also really help out with discovering your own feelings and exploring them. Like aside from the escapist aspect, you can honestly learn from the experiences that your characters go through. I live in a very sheltered household so character writing and character interactions are the closest I can get to learning how to deal with some of my emotions, as silly as it sounds. On top of that, it can really improve your writing skills which is pretty cool!

A: Roleplaying is a great way for one to immerse themselves in a completely unheard of scenario,whether the roleplay has fantasy elements,romantic ones,or just adventurous ones. Plus,it fosters interacting and meeting new people. It also broadens ones horizons and creativity,not to mention they get to create their own characters.
