Mel kicked her feet idly from where she was sitting in the waiting room, hands on her lap as she waited in bored silence. She was actually in pretty good shape, for someone who’d just come out of a life-threatening fight. Just a few scratches and bruises.

And also a gaping would on her cheek from a rock, but that didn’t count because it had been her fault. She’d tripped and sliced her cheek on a sharp rock. Whoops. But she had enough medical knowledge to know it wasn’t deep enough to require stitches, just some bandages. So she shook her head when a nurse appeared, resisting the urge to swat them away.

Listen. Mel was exhuasted. The plane ride from Kalos to Kanto was a long one, and she’d been yanked offset too the next episode was supposed to be airing within the week, but now that she was here, she didn’t think so. Maybe Rho would take over the role for her. “Connor. English, please. Or French. Either is fine.”

Both Mel and Connor were already outside the lab, bickering as usual. It was just what they did, they were siblings. What else are siblings good for?

“Red? Are you sure we aren’t talking about blue?”

“Your eyes are blue!” Connor threw his hands into the air in frustration. “This is stupid.” He huffed, dropping his hands to his sides again.

Mel scowled but didn’t say anything more, simply shoved her hands into her pockets. “Yeah, well, it’s better than being miserable.”

They were both quiet for a few heartbeats. Even Pom was abnormally quiet, though it wasn’t uncommon for Riu to be silent nowadays.

“.. Can we please change the subject?” Connor asked miserably.

“Yes, please. Oh, look at that! Lion, Snow, hi!”

Mel grinned despite herself, poking Mira playfully. “Look at that. How many of those things do you have? .. Where does he get them?” Now she was so confused. “.. Going down the mountain is probably smart.” She agreed.

Were it not for the laws of this current tentative relationship, Mel would have slammed their heads together. And also if Mira wasn’t ace.

Completely unprepared as usual, Mel didn’t hesitate in voicing her opinion on the act. Which was just a shriek and then a sudden burst of laughter. “If you’re gonna do it, at least promise me you’ll delete my search history.”

“Look, I don’t know how acceptable it is to search up ‘can too much orange juice kill me’.”

She has long brown hair that’s usually kept up in a bun with two pencils sticking out of it. She keeps her keystone attached to one of the pencils. It’s a mystery as to how they stay in place all the time. Bright sky-blue eyes and freckles. Relatively pale.
Usually wears a maroon jumpsuit with a red cropped sweatshirt and red shorts over it. The jumpsuit only goes about a quarter of the way down her thighs, so she wears black leggings underneath the shorts and black combat boots. She has a black belt that she ties around her waist and attaches

Mel grew up in a rough environment that definitely shaped her personalities. As a child she went by her birth name, Aubrey, while living with her mother. Her mother was a bad person involved in some bad stuff, and one day she just didn’t come home. So Mel grew up on her own with her neighbors.
She currently works with the KPF (Kalos Police Force) and works with a few higher-ups. She claims it’s only fun because she gets to fight people legally, but really, she’s happy to help for a change.
Other:
- Constantly feels dysphoric and has “no idea why”— She needs a lot of “off days”
~ She’s still discovering herself. She’s gender neutral but doesn’t understand it yet.
- Suffers from siderodromophobia, the fear of trains
- Cracks way too many jokes to cover up her ~crippling insecurity~
- Actually has a lot of trust issues, and is still hesitant to get to know new people, which was a staggering change from the old Mel everyone used to know.
- Trusts Zara and Connor more than anyone in the world.

History:
Connor doesn’t really remember his parents; He spent most of his childhood in the forest with his Aipom, Pom. He jumped around from forest to forest and grew to trust Pokémon more than people. Unfortunately because of that, he missed out on a lot of his childhood. So he acts a lot like a child now.
Other:
- Suffers from pediophobia— fear of dolls
- Diagnosed with synesthesia. He really likes certain voices
- He’s a culinary genius! He really likes testing out new foods and experimenting. It’s like a hobby of his.
- For someone so small, he sure has a lot of pent up rage
- Diagnosed depression; He doesn’t understand what “depression” really means and thinks it’s going to ruin his life if he admits that he has it. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.

- Sees Mel as an older sister like figure
- Same to Zara, though he trusts Zara to drive more than he trusts Mel.

Fun Canon Facts About Them;

• Mel once made her entire team watch Avengers: Civil War with her and now they won’t stop arguing over who’s side they think is right. ~~(Riu and Amat are Team Iron Man, while Aki and Dew are Team Cap. It doesn’t matter that the movie came out a year ago. They won’t give it a rest.)~~

• Connor once sat Mel, Leanne and Xavier down and taught them how to sing Bad Romance. So next time Mel starts singing it during a serious situation, deck her and then blame Connor.

• Everyone refers to Aki and Riu as the “Power Couple” purely because it ticks them off and they’re best friends

• One time Connor burned the kitchen down because he wasn’t paying attention to the toaster

• Simon has not spoken once ever. At least, not that anyone outside of Connor can tell.

• Pom used to have a crush on a Sceptile and nobody will ever let her forget that she went up to him and said “Is that a tree” while pointing at his tail.

• Mel is always the big spoon. No ifs or buts about it. She hates being coddled.

• Connor fluctuate between the big spoon and the little spoon. Not that anyone would know. (Psst, he totally prefers being the big spoon!!)

• Despite all his dramatics, Riu really does have PTSD from his experiences in Kalos and with Mia’s Zoroark
